Female ice hockey players have rates of sports-related concussion that are similar to male participants at various levels of play, despite differences in the rules that do not allow for body checking in the women's game. At the elite level, there are limited data regarding concussion rates and concussion symptom reporting. Therefore, it was hypothesized that there would be a high incidence of concussion and concussion symptom-reporting in professional women's ice hockey players.
A survey was given to 54 players in the National Women's Hockey League at the end of the 2018-2019 season. Players reported on the number of concussions diagnosed by a physician throughout their careers, the number of times they have had concussion symptoms, if they had ever continued playing after experiencing concussion symptoms, and if they had ever failed to report concussion symptoms to a medical professional or coach.
Fifty-four players completed the survey. Thirtyone (57%) respondents reported at least one concussion diageporting among female professional ice hockey players and will aid clinicians in decision making when caring for these athletes.
Previous research has demonstrated that there is a statistically significant relationship between hip arthroscopy outcomes and age. The purpose of this research was to investigate the link, if any, between hip arthroscopy outcomes and intraoperative pathology as well as with both patient age and sex.
All male patients 14 years of age or older who underwent primary hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and who had a 2-year patient-reported outcome scores were analyzed. These patients were separated into three age-based cohorts (< 30 years old, 30 to 45 years old, and > 45 years old). These cohorts were then analyzed and compared with respect to patient demographic information, intraoperative pathology, and functional outcome scores for statistical significance, set at p < 0.05.
At 2-year follow-up, there was a significant difference seen between the modified Harris Hip scores (mHHS) of the < 30 years old and > 45 years old cohorts with a mean difference of 10.2 (92.05 ± 10.3 and 81.89 ± 16.7, p = 0.044). The results of an ANOVA comparing 2-year non-arthritic hip scores (NAHS) were not statistically significant (p = 0.196). At 2-year follow up, the NAHS scores were 92.18 ± 10.3, 87.76 ± 15.6, and 84.63 ± 15.9 for the < 30 years old, 30 to 45 years old, and > 45 years old cohorts, respectively. When analyzing cohorts for rates of achieving a minimal clinically important difference (MCID) and patient acceptable symptomatic state (PASS), however, there were no statistically significant differences between groups.
The results of this study suggest that males of all ages have generally good and similar outcomes following hip arthroscopy for FAI as determined by their similar rates of achieving both MCID and PASS.

The present study aimed to assess the bio-functional analysis of camel milk viz. anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory activities using potent
(KGL4) strain through fermentation and also to release the bioactive peptides during fermentation.
The antioxidant and proteolytic activities of the fermented camel milk were studied followed by SDS-PAGE analysis and 2 D PAGE. The separations of the bioactive peptides of water-soluble extract (WSE) of 3 and 10 kDa (Permeates & Retentates) were achieved by RP-HPLC. The purified bioactive peptides were identified and characterized using RPLC/MS and the effect of WSE of camel milk fermented with KGL4 on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)/endotoxin-induced inflammation in RAW 264.7 macrophages were also studied.

In this paper we evaluate the performance of the 150 mm black globe thermometer to provide reliable Tmrt values for outdoor settings in Singapore. Accurate Tmrt values are calculated by the method of integral radiation measurements. Based on these, the mean convection coefficient of the black globe has been re-calibrated. Results show an improvement in the estimation of Tmrt with the new coefficient in comparison with the default version suggested in ISO77261998. Increasing the averaging periods of the measured variables improved the performance of the derived mean convective coefficients to estimate Tmrt. During clear skies day and for 10-min averaged data, RMSE for Tmrt reduce to 3.9 °C (7.4 °C for ISO77261998 coefficient) with an overestimation on high incoming solar radiation periods and an underestimation during the morning and evening (low solar elevation). During overcast dry conditions an underestimation of Tmrt is also expected which is higher in the rain/wet periods. The mean convective coefficient presented in this work can provide improved estimations of Tmrt relevant for outdoor thermal comfort studies in hot and humid tropical climates like Singapore.The resultant residues after thermal processes can be reused in the form of activated carbon (AC) production or used for soil amelioration. However, the economic and energy optimisation of the waste revaluation process is necessary for the prediction of technology requirements, investment boundaries and cost-benefit analysis. Mass, energy and cost estimation of the entire process were systematically executed relative to equipment sizing and type of product, as major factors in the evaluation. The economic analysis and process optimisation were quantified and evaluated with the Aspen Plus economy and an SPSS statistical tool for economic analysis. Simulation results were concomitant with economic analysis to determine the approximate annualised return on investment, profitability index and payback period, using optimised variables in the process. The four processes examined process scenario 1-4 (pyrolysis, gasification, combustion and combined) have 16, 17, 14 and 17.2% return on investment for the 8.5, 8.2, 9.8 and 8-year payback period, respectively. The results provide a technology assessment and economic guide for investors and policymakers among others. This work is also useful for researchers in achieving the goal of efficient biomass utilisation. Palm waste ash as a potential alternative to chemical fertiliser, especially for the treatment of ultisol and acidic soils, were evaluated and it was confirmed that it is a good alternative to typical inorganic fertiliser. Finally, the results indicate that using such wastes in the AC market is a viable business option, though with high initial capital investment even though palm waste ash can be produced locally.In order to add value to the beach-cast Sargassum cymosum algae, its biomass was converted by pyrolysis process at 800°C into biochar, characterized and applied in the adsorption of Acetaminophen in batch and fixed-bed processes. Characterization by pH, Point of Zero Charge (pHPZC), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermogravimetric (TG), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Surface area (BET) showed that the biochar presents properties favourable for the Acetaminophen adsorption. High surface area was obtained of 368.1 m². g-1, presenting the formation of pores, observed by SEM. The biochar showed basic characteristics (pH = 8.84 and pHPZC = 9.9), inferring an adsorption involving several different mechanisms such as dispersive interactions by π electrons, electrostatic attractions, and hydrophobic interactions. The adsorption mechanism is limited by chemisorption and governed by the formation of monolayer on the biochar surface, the Pseudo-second order kinetic and Langmuir-Freundlich isotherm model described the best behaviour of batch adsorption, with equilibrium and maximum adsorption capacity qe = 6.93 ± 0.07 mg. g-1 and qms = 12.34 ± 0.45 mg. g-1, respectively. Fixed-bed adsorption were performed varying adsorbent mass (0.3 and 0.6 g) and flow rate (2.5 and 5.0 mL. min-1), the best qy = 42.33 mg. g-1 found to adsorbent mass of 0.6 g and flow rate of 2.5 mL. min-1. Yan model described the best behaviour of the breakthrough curves data. Thus, the results provide insights into the development of adsorbents from beach-cast of Sargassum cymosum to adsorption of Acetaminophen, enhancing the use of environmental waste to obtain it.
To evaluate the prehospital obstetric population that utilizes emergency medical services (EMS) and their association with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
We conducted a retrospective evaluation of one year of all medical calls from a large, municipal, midwestern fire department. Inclusion criteria included all pregnant patients transported to a hospital by EMS. Descriptive statistics were calculated to evaluate prehospital event information (e.g., zip code, time, and duration of call), patient characteristics, and clinical management data regarding blood pressure. Census data were used to compare neighborhood information with poverty rates.
Of the 1,575 identified patients, 64.4% (1015/1575) presented with obstetric complaints, 57.4% (700/1220) were in their third trimester and 72.7% (686/944) were multiparous. The median call duration was 17 (interquartile range 12-22) minutes. In the areas where EMS usage was highest, one quarter of individuals lived below the poverty level. Of the studied populmes may consider treatment of severe hypertension. Prehospital treatment of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy could be optimized.The Action Control Scale (ACS-90) measures action-state orientation (ASO), which describes individual differences in volitional processes such as goal initiation and maintenance. In this study, we examine psychometric properties of a Turkish translation of the ACS-90 (ACS-T). Moreover, we extend past research by investigating the relationship between ASO and emotional labor measured as a trait and a state construct. We conducted four studies to address our aims. Study 1 (N = 569) shows that the revised 23-item ACS-T with three factors (preoccupation, hesitation, and volatility) provides a good fit to the data and displays acceptable reliability. Study 2 (N = 377) confirms the factor structure of the 23-item ACS-T and provides evidence for construct validity. selleck chemicals llc Study 3 (N = 159) shows that the hesitation subscale negatively predicts trait surface acting. Study 4 (N = 74, daily responses = 231) indicates that the preoccupation and hesitation subscales negatively predict state surface acting. Link the concepts of the SATISPART Stroke (SATIS-Stroke) and Participation Measurement Scale (PM-Scale) to ICF codes.
Linking was performed by two evaluators with experience in the ICF taxonomy who applied the ten standard linking rules specifically developed and updated for this purpose. The level of agreement between the evaluators was determined using the Kappa coefficient with 95% confidence intervals.
The SATIS-Stroke and PM-Scale address the nine domains of the ICF "Activities and Participation" component. Adequate agreement was found between the researchers during the linking process, mainly between the 1º and 3º evaluators. Identified 41 ICF codes were found among the SATIS-Stroke items and 24 ICF codes were found among the items of the PM-Scale.
