Fetal abduction by maternal evisceration (FAMAE) cases are statistically rare but warrant closer scrutiny as planned homicides. This study reports lessons regarding abductor modus operandi, motivation, intent, planning, and the dynamics in the attack to inform public safety.

Words were encoded using a shallow task to create a weak memory trace that was more susceptible to test question framing effects. Participants made yes/no judgments on two, counterbalanced tests. One test focused on old items ("old?"), whereas the other test focused on new items ("new?"). The behavioral evidence suggested that the weak memory traces led to more familiarity-based recognition judgments with a concentrated effect on decision criterion. There were some small ERP changes on the FN400 or LPC consistent with the criterion changes, but the test query did not directly alter these ERP components. Instead, the test query altered a late old/new ERP difference similar to the "right frontal old/new effect" reported in source monitoring ERP studies. When the query was "new?", old items elicited more positive ERPs, whereas there was no old/new difference when the query was "old?". The results suggest that the query framing induces memory biases that occur late in the stream of processing. More generally, the results indicate that decision criterion must be accounted for when interpreting physiological correlates of recognition memory.Dimethyl fumarate is an efficient therapy used widely in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). The pathology of PD brain is characterized by inclusions of aggregated α-synuclein (α-SYN) in the cytoplasmic region of neurons. Clinical evidence suggests that stimulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines leads to neuroinflammation in the affected brain regions. Upon neuroinflammation, the Janus Kinase/Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription (JAK/STAT) signaling pathway, and other transcription factors such as nuclear factor κB (NF-κB), NOD-, LRR- and pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3), mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), and toll-like receptors (TLRs) are upregulated and induce the microglial activation, contributing to PD via dopaminergic neuron autophagy. Aberrant activation or phosphorylation of the components of JAK/STAT signaling pathway has been implicated in increased transcription of the inflammation-associated genes and many neurodegenerative disorders such as PD. Interferon gamma (IFN-γ), and interleukine (IL)-6 are two of the most potent activators of the JAK/STAT pathway, and it was shown to be elevated in PD. Stimulation of microglial cell with aggregated α-SYN results in production of nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and IL-1β in PD. Dysregulation of the JAK/STAT in PD and its involvement in various inflammatory pathways make it a promising PD therapy approach. So far, a variety of synthetic or natural small-molecule JAK inhibitors (Jakinibs) have been found promising in managing a spectrum of ailments, many of which are in preclinical research or clinical trials. Herein, we provided a perspective on the function of the JAK/STAT signaling pathway in PD progression and gathered data that describe the rationale evidence on the potential application of Jakinibs to improve neuroinflammation in PD.
The relationship between physical activity levels (PAL) and the presence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors such as anthropometric and biochemical indices and heat shock proteins 27 antibody (anti-HSP-27) concentration, and serum inflammatory markers, was investigated in the MASHAD cohort study.

The overall study population consisted of 9,684 subjects (3,858 men, 5,826 women) with a mean age of 47.73±8.08 to 48.87±9.26 years respectively. They were divided into four categories based on their PAL. Biochemical parameters were determined for all participants. Also, serum anti-HSP-27 levels were measured using an in-house enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay method. Multiple regression analysis was used to explore the association between the anti-HSP antibody titers and physical activity after adjusting for confounding factors. The level of statistical significance was set at p<0.05.

Several CVD risk factors were associated with the level of PAL including body mass index, waist hip ratio, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, serum HDL-C and TG (p<0.001) and also fasting blood glucose (0.004). Also, serum anti-HSP-27 titers were significantly higher in inactive subjects (P>0.05).

The publications on COVID-19 have tremendously increased. Thus, there is a need to summarize and curate this evidence from the literature. This study determined the characteristics and trends of published articles about COVID-19 in Southeast Asia (SEA) through a bibliometric analysis.

A systematic review of literature on COVID-19 in SEA countries was performed using the Scopus database from 2020 to August 2021. Bibliometric information was obtained from Scopus and network visualization was conducted using VOSviewer software.

A total of 706 articles were obtained in this study. The number of publications increased exponentially from 2020 up to present. Most of the research outputs were produced by authors and institutions from Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. The other countries with highest cases of COVID-19 in SEA such as Indonesia and Philippines have lower scientific output in this field. GDP, research and development expenditure, number of researchers and physicians, and international collaborations were significantly correlated to research productivity in COVID-19 in SEA.

This study showed the trends and gaps for research in SEA and the facilitators of research productivity in COVID-19. SEA countries should consider increasing the support for COVID-19 research to generate knowledge that can be used in controlling COVID-19 in the region.

Vitamin C has been used as an anti-oxidant in various diseases including viral illnesses like coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCT) investigating the role of vitamin C supplementation in COVID-19 was carried out.
