To measure the motion of polyethylene insert and implant components of mobile-bearing total ankle replacement (TAR) by cone-beam CT scanning.

10 TAR patients with high amount of clinical motion after the CCI implant (Ceramic Coated Implant; Wright Medical Technology, Arlington, TN, USA) with average age at operation 64,3 years (range 47-84) and average clinical total range of motion 42 degrees (range 35-55) were included.

The average total range of motion between the insert and the tibial component was 0.8mm (range 0-2) in the coronal plane, and 2.9mm (range 1-6) in the sagittal plane. There was wide variation in the axial rotation measurements between the components.

We found measurable motion between the mobile-bearing insert and the tibial component in all planes. The relevance of this motion to the function and long-term survival of the TAR remains to be determined.

The key advantages of AnSFDMBRs include high flux, low propensity towards fouling, and low capital and operational costs. Although there have been several reviews on AnMBRs, very few reviews on AnSFDMBR system. Previous AnSFDMBR studies have focused on lab-scale to investigate the long-term flux, methods to improve performance and the associated mechanisms. Microbial analysis showed that the phyla namely Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes are dominant in both bulk sludge and cake biofilm, but their abundance is low in biocake. This review critically examines the fundamentals of AnSFDMBRs, operational conditions, process optimization and applications. Moreover, the current knowledge gaps (e.g., dynamic membrane module optimization, membrane surface modification and functional microbes enrichment) that should be studied in future to design an efficient AnSFDMBR system for treatment of diverse wastewaters.
Epilepsy is a condition associated with high levels of stigma. Quality of life (QoL) is reportedly diminished in people with epilepsy worldwide. The purpose of our study was to describe and compare the self-reported QoL of people with epilepsy and people imagining life with epilepsy.

In this exploratory, observational study, global quality of life perception was assessed through a single question (Q1 of the QOLIE-31), consisting of a 0-10 points- Likert scale. Answers were obtained from 94 adult epilepsy patients and 417 individuals without epilepsy 41 university students/graduates attending a summer school on epilepsy, 108 police officer trainees, and 268 police agent trainees. Descriptive statistics were applied.

Median values of 8 were found for self-perception of current QoL in all groups. Non-epilepsy participants' estimates of their QoL in case they had epilepsy were consistently decreased, with median values of 6 and 7 reported by police agent and police officer trainees respectively, and of 5 inal training with potential impact on stigma perpetuation in patients with epilepsy.Despite all the developments in medicine, infections continue to be one of the most important causes of mortality in pediatric hematology and oncology patients. The more severe the degree of neutropenia develops after intensive chemotherapy in cancer patients, and the longer the neutropenia duration, the higher the risk of infection. Granulocyte transfusion (GT) is used as supportive therapy in cases where the bone marrow needs time to recover in invasive bacterial or fungal infections along with severe neutropenia. The patients who had granulocyte transfusions in our clinic between June 2019 and June 2020 were reviewed retrospectively. A total of 15 units of granulocyte concentrate were used in 11 febrile neutropenia attacks of 9 patients. The demographic characteristics of the patients and features belonging to the period of GT were recorded. In our study, the clinical response rate after GT was 90.9 %, while the hematological response rate was 40 %. Most of the patients were treated succesfully, the mortality rate was 9%. We think that the most critical factor for success with GTs is determining the neutropenic patient in particular with a combination of high-risk malignancy and acute life-threatening infection for using GT. Also, early use of GT in those patients who do not recover despite appropriate antimicrobial and supportive treatment may contribute to improvement of the clinical conditon in a shorter period of time and reduction of repeated GTs.
The secretion of monoclonal immunoglobulins increase in chronic inflammatory disorders such as chronic infections and autoimmune diseases. This risk is further increased by the biological agents used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis. Hematological malignancies occurring in patients with psoriasis provides an opportunity to evaluate the effect of autologous or allogeneic stem cell transplantation in this immune-mediated disease.

Four patients diagnosed with psoriasis are presented, having undergone autologous bone marrow transplantation (ABMT), and eventually having remission of their psoriasis, after developing multiple myeloma during follow up. Psoriasis history of the patients was 20, 23, 2 and 2 years, respectively. All of them received peroral methotrexate or topical corticosteroid therapy. Time until myeloma diagnosis were 220, 144, 25, 18 months and follow-up after ABMT were 26, 19, 15, 22 months, respectively CONCLUSION Psoriasis can be effectively treated with stem cell trthese patients, considering the benefit-to-harm ratio. However, uncertainty continues regarding the autologous or allogeneic application of stem cell transplantation.
To investigate the use of cryopreserved arterial allografts (CAA) as a substitute for infected infrarenal aortic prostheses, and its outcomes.

A single centre retrospective study of consecutive patients receiving an abdominal aortic CAA after removal of an infected graft was conducted between January 1997 and December 2013. The primary outcome was the rate of allograft related revision surgery. Secondary outcomes were the 30 day mortality rate, survival, primary patency, limb salvage, and infection recurrence. Allograft ruptures secondary to infection and risk factors for allograft failure were also investigated.

Two hundred patients (mean age 64.2 ± 9.4 years) were included. In 56 (28%) cases, infection was related to an enteric fistula. The mean follow up duration was 4.1 years. The 30 day mortality rate was 11%. Early revision surgery was needed in 59 patients (29.5%). Among them, 15 (7.5%) were allograft related and led to the death of three patients (1.5%), corresponding to a 7.5% 30 day allograft related revision surgery rate.
