How to Repair a Dead Car Key

Broken Key Loop

One of my MK5 keysfobs broke off the small key ring at the top, which is where it joins the keyfob. It's made of soft metal or plastic. I've made a hole in it, and wet-sanded it to make it stronger however, I'm assuming that the issue isn't solved by this.

I've also tried wrapping the broken part of the ring using clear tape, but it didn't work as good. It's a shame because I use the little split rings to keep my keys in the right place.
