To investigate the association of patients' sex with recurrence and disease progression in patients treated with intravesical bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) for T1G3/HG urinary bladder cancer (UBC).

We analyzed the data of 2635 patients treated with adjuvant intravesical BCG for T1 UBC between 1984 and 2019. We accounted for missing data using multiple imputations and adjusted for covariate imbalance between males and females using inverse probability weighting (IPW). Crude and IPW-adjusted Cox regression analyses were used to estimate the hazard ratios (HR) with their 95% confidence intervals (CI) for the association of patients' sex with HG-recurrence and disease progression.

A total of 2170 (82%) males and 465 (18%) females were available for analysis. Overall, 1090 (50%) males and 244 (52%) females experienced recurrence, and 391 (18%) males and 104 (22%) females experienced disease progression. On IPW-adjusted Cox regression analyses, female sex was associated with disease progression (HR 1.25, 95%CI 1.01-1.56, p = 0.04) but not with recurrence (HR 1.06, 95%CI 0.92-1.22, p = 0.41). A total of 1056 patients were treated with adequate BCG. In these patients, on IPW-adjusted Cox regression analyses, patients' sex was not associated with recurrence (HR 0.99, 95%CI 0.80-1.24, p = 0.96), HG-recurrence (HR 1.00, 95%CI 0.78-1.29, p = 0.99) or disease progression (HR 1.12, 95%CI 0.78-1.60, p = 0.55).

To develop and validate a computerized tomography (CT)-based nomogram for predicting the malignant potential of primary gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs).

The primary and validation cohorts consisted of 167 and 39 patients (single center, different time periods) with histologically confirmed primary gastric GISTs. Clinical data and preoperative CT images were reviewed. The association of CT characteristics with malignant potential was analyzed using univariate and stepwise logistic regression analyses. A nomogram based on significant CT findings was developed for predicting malignant potential. see more The predictive accuracy of the nomogram was determined by the concordance index (C-index) and calibration curves. External validation was performed with the validation cohort.

To compare lesion conspicuity and image quality of arterial phase images obtained from low kVp (90-kVp) and dual-energy (DE) scans for the evaluation of hypervascular hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

This retrospective study included 229 patients with HCC who underwent either 90kVp (n = 106) or DE scan (80- and 150-kVp with a tin filter) (n = 123) during the arterial phase. DE scans were reconstructed into a linearly blended image with a mixed ratio of 0.6 (60% 80kVp and 40% 150kVp) and post-processed for 40keV and 50keV images. The contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) of HCC to the liver and image noise was measured. Lesion conspicuity, liver parenchymal image quality, and overall image preference were assessed qualitatively by three independent radiologists.

DE 40keV images had the highest CNR of HCC, and DE blended images had the lowest image noise among four image sets (p = 0.01 and p < 0.001, respectively). There was no significant difference in mean volume CT dose index and dose-length product between DE and low kVp scan (ps > 0.05). For qualitative analyses, DE blended images had the highest scores for image quality and overall image preference (ps < 0.001).

To construct MRI radiomics nomogramsthat can predict short-term response after TACE in HCC patients with diameter less than 5cm.

MRI images and clinical data of 153 cases with tumor diameter less than 5cm before TACE from 3 hospitals were collected retrospectively and divided into 1 internal training set and 1 external validation set. The T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI arterial phase (DCE-MR AP) images were studied. Multivariable logistic regression was used to construct Radiomics models, Clinics models, and Nomograms based on T2WI and DCE-MR AP, respectively. The receiver characteristic curve (ROC) was used to evaluate the predictive performance of each model.

In this study, 113 eligible cases in Hospital 1 were collected as the training set, and 40 eligible cases in other hospitals were used as the verification set. 11 T2WI features and 11 DCE-MRI AP features with the most predictive value were finally screened. 3 models based on T2WI and 3 models based on DCE-MRI AP were established, respectively.
