Obstacle resuscitation through put rescuers throughout COVID-19 outbreak.
Standard radiographs may be sufficient, but a targeted CT scan may be of better value for a confident decision for assessment of shrapnel position near viscera and major vessels.
Shrapnel's movements in the magnetic field are not negligible during the acute phase of injury where there is no reinforcing fibroblastic reaction and invite us to reconsider the MRI safety of these metallic foreign bodies. Standard radiographs may be sufficient, but a targeted CT scan may be of better value for a confident decision for assessment of shrapnel position near viscera and major vessels.
Anaemia is a common problem in sub-Saharan Africa. While most literature has focused on children, women of childbearing age, and pregnant women, data for the elderly population are relatively scarce. Anaemia exhorts negative consequences to functional ability of elderly patients, both physically and cognitively. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of anaemia, severity, and micronutrient deficiency status in the elderly hospitalized patients in Tanzania.

A total of 156 hospitalized adults aged 60 years and above were enrolled in this study. Simufilam inhibitor A structured questionnaire was used to capture sociodemographic and clinical characteristics. Blood samples were collected, and a complete blood count, serum cobalamin, serum ferritin, and serum folate levels were measured to assess anaemia and micronutrient deficiency status in all participants who had anaemia.

The prevalence of anaemia was 79.5% (124/156) with severe anaemia in 33.9% (42/124) of participants, moderate anaemia in 42.7% (53/124) of participants, and 23.4% (29/124) of all participants had mild anaemia. Micronutrient deficiency was found in 14.5% (18/124) of all participants with anaemia. Combined deficiency (either iron and vitamin B12 deficiency or iron and folate deficiency) was the most common micronutrient deficiency anaemia with a frequency of 33.3% (6/18), followed by isolated iron and folate deficiencies at equal frequency of 27.8% (5/18) and vitamin B12 deficiency at 11.1% (2/18).

The prevalence of anaemia in the hospitalized elderly population is high warranting public health attention and mostly present in moderate and severe forms. Micro-nutrient deficiency anaemia is common in this age group and is mostly due to combined micronutrient deficiency.

Little is known about the association among skin color, sunlight exposure. and vitamin D status in Southeast Asian population.

To investigate the association between skin color measured by von Luschan chromatic scale (VLCS) and vitamin D status in Thai medical ambulatory patients.

Medical ambulatory patients were enrolled. The eligibility criteria were as follows aged >18 years, stable medical conditions, and no conditions directly affecting vitamin D status. Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels were assessed. Skin color at the outer forearm was assessed using VLCS which grades skin color from the lightest score of 1 to the darkest score of 36. Patients were systematically interviewed to estimate daily sunlight exposure time.

A total of 334 patients were enrolled. Data were expressed as mean ± SD. The mean serum 25(OH)D was 25.21 ± 10.06 ng/mL. There were 17 (5.1%), 217 (65.0%), and 100 (29.9%) patients who had light brown (VLCS score 18-20), medium brown (VLCS score 21-24), and dark brown (Vere independently associated with decreased odds of vitamin D deficiency in Thai medical ambulatory patients.A critical factor for preventing osteoporosis after menopause is attenuation of the accelerated turnover rate of bone metabolism. The present randomized controlled study was conducted to clarify the effects of a lemon beverage with calcium (Ca) supplementation that makes use of the chelating action of citric acid. Comprehensive evaluations of bone were performed by assessments of bone mineral density (BMD) and biomarkers related to bone turnover. Seventy-nine postmenopausal women were enrolled and asked to participate in an 11-month continuous intake of the test beverages. The subjects were divided into three groups those who consumed a lemon beverage containing citric acid with Ca supplementation (LECA group), those who consumed a lemon beverage containing citric acid without Ca supplementation (LE group), and those who consumed no test beverage (control group). Using a double-blind protocol, subjects in the LECA and LE groups consumed one bottle containing 290 mL of the test beverage each day. The ratio of change in BMD after 11 months was significantly higher in the LECA group as compared to the control and LE groups. The LECA group also showed significant decreases in concentrations of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b (TRACP-5b), a bone resorption marker, and bone alkaline phosphatase (BAP) as compared to the other groups, as well as a significant decrease in concentration of osteocalcin (OC), a bone formation marker, as compared to the LE group. Based on our findings, we speculated that bone resorption and bone formation in postmenopausal women might be suppressed along with an increase in Ca resorption caused by chelation of citric acid in association with continuous ingestion of a Ca-supplemented lemon beverage containing citric acid, resulting in suppression of high bone metabolic turnover. In addition, the results provide information regarding BMD maintenance in the bones of the trunk, including the lumbar spine and proximal femur.
What food people choose to eat is embraced by circumstances that are essentially influenced by the underlying motives of food choices which are important to a healthful dietary change. Therefore, this study aimed to explore food choice behaviors associated with nutritional status and FVs intake in women during lactation from central Amhara.

A multistage sampling technique was applied to select study participants. A study was conducted among 423 randomly selected lactating women using a face-to-face interview of the questionnaire. A community-based cross-sectional, quantitative study with descriptive and analytical components was done. Anthropometrics measurements such as weight, height, waist, and hip circumference were taken from all participants. Body mass index was calculated to determine the nutritional status of women. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20 computer software program. Association between dependent and independent variables was identified by logistic regression analysis, and a
-valth good fruit and vegetable intake. This can help practitioners make recommendations for health promotion strategies. Emphasis on assisting women with healthy meal eating and avoiding psychological stress is important. Nutrition education about healthy food choice is recommended for communities.

To analyze the anatomical and functional outcomes after autologous lens capsule transplantation in patients with persistent macular hole.

This is a retrospective observational study of five eyes of five patients treated with vitrectomy and autologous lens capsular flap transplantation. Complete ophthalmic examination was performed preoperatively and seven days and 1, 3, 6, 12, and 18 months after surgery.

Successful macular hole closure was achieved in all patients. The mean minimum macular hole diameter before the surgery was 666.8
m, and the mean basal diameter was 1086.4
m. The mean visual acuity before lens capsular flap transplantation was 20/200, while after surgery, it was 20/125.

Autologous lens capsular flap transplantation is a potential alternative treatment for patients with large persistent macular holes after other operative techniques have failed.

To evaluate the short-term safety and efficacy of a novel approach of utilizing the 9-0 looped polypropylene suture with double knots buried into the scleral groove and the scleral tunnel to minimize the risk of the suture erosion and suture knot exposure.

Clinical-based retrospective study.

Records of consecutive patients who had anterior vitrectomy and scleral-fixated posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) implantation between July 2018 and April 2020 with a minimum follow-up of 3 months were reviewed.

This study enrolled a total of 21 eyes from 20 patients (15 male). These patients had a mean age of 58.52 ± 8.55 years and were followed for an average of 1.08 ± 0.58 years postoperatively. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) improved from a preoperative mean of 0.43 ± 0.41 logMAR to a significantly higher mean 3-month postoperative value of 0.09 ± 0.21 logMAR (
 = -3.35,
< 0.01). There were no statistical differences between the preoperative and postoperative corneal endothelial cell density (
=0.71). The postoperative complications included transient increased intraocular pressure in 5 eyes (24%). No other complications were detected during the follow-up.

The modified technique proposed is a safe, effective, and reliable approach resulting in good visual outcomes. Our procedure might have the potential benefit to avoid suture-related complications in scleral-fixated IOL implantation.
. Retrospective case series study, not applicable.

Overweight and obese patients are at risk for diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, and microvascular complications. The rtx1
(Imagine Eyes, France) is a microscope that allows near histological visualizations of cones and retinal microcirculation.

This study analysed the cones and retinal microvascular changes in a group of 47 healthy women with different BMI values. Participants were divided into 2 groups the BMI group (28 women with BMI >/25) and the control group (19 lean women with BMI <25).

The lumen and diameter of retinal arteries were not significantly different between groups. There were significant differences in the thickness of arteriole walls. The WLR and WCSA values differed significantly between the control and BMI groups (for WLR 0.25 ± 0.03 vs. 0.29 ± 0.03,
< 0.001; for WCSA 4136.7 ± 1140.0 vs. 5217.3 ± 944.0, respectively,
< 0.001). In healthy eyes, cone density and morphology were not affected by weight.

Retinal image analysis with rtx1 offers a novel noninvasive measurement of early changes in retinal vasculature that are not detectable during routine clinical examination.
