In this paper, a deterministic model characterizing the within-host infection of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) in intrahepatic and extrahepatic tissues is presented. Three equilibria, namely, infection-free, CTL immune response-free and infected equilibrium with CTL immune response are discussed in terms of these two thresholds. Thirdly, the stability of these three equilibria is investigated theoretically as well as numerically. The results show that when R 01 1 , both of the virus and the CTL immune response persist within the host. Finally, a brief discussion will be given.

We refer specifically to the 'Mandato 14' and the Higher Education Law (LOES, Spanish acronym) launched in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Objective To assess the impact of these P&I (Mandato 14/LOES) on the production of health sciences-related articles (HSRA), and the relationship of these HSRA with the country's health priorities. In an attempt to advance the theory and science of accident causation, researchers have recently formalised a set of '15 systems thinking tenets' that cover the conditions and characteristics of work systems that are believed to contribute to the cause of accidents. The purpose of this study was to attempt to identify the systems thinking tenets across a range of different systems and accidents using the Accident Mapping (AcciMap) method. The findings suggest that the tenets can be attributed to play a role in accident causation, however as a result of this process, the capability of AcciMap has been brought into question. Implications and directions for future research are described. Practitioner Summary This study is an extension of previous work that suggested there was a need to test for the 'systems thinking tenets of accident causation' in a multi-incident dataset. We used AcciMap to evaluate whether it has the capability to support ongoing accident analysis activities in ergonomics research.Bullying has become one of the most significant problem behaviors that school-aged adolescents face. The current study examines the strain-delinquency relationship by employing General Strain Theory as a guiding framework. "Strain" was operationalized as bullying victimization and family dysfunction, "delinquency" was operationalized as bullying perpetration, and "negative affect" was operationalized as anxiety and depression. Analyses were carried out based on a group of 2,139 Macanese schoolchildren. Using a structural equation modeling technique, the results revealed that exposure to family dysfunction and bullying victimization was associated with adolescents' negative affect, such as anxiety and depression. Contrary to our expectations, the indirect effect of victimization on bullying through negative affect was negative, though the mediation effect was relatively small and only significant in boys. In addition, gender analyses of invariance showed that male adolescents who experienced more family conflict and parental control were less likely to engage in bullying. This study could lead to further anti-bullying interventions and practical efforts designed to improve positive parenting and adolescents' interpersonal skills.
Quantitative features from pre-treatment positron emission tomography (PET) have been used to predict treatment outcomes for patients with cervical carcinoma. link2 The purpose of this study is to use quantitative PET imaging features and clinical parameters to construct a multi-objective machine learning predictive model.

Seventy-five patients with stage IB2-IVA disease treated at our institution from 2009-2012 were analyzed. Models predicting locoregional and distant failure were generated using clinical parameters (age, race, stage, histology, tumor size, nodal status) and imaging features (12 textural, 9 intensity, 8 geometric features, 2 additional imaging features) from pre-treatment PET. Model features were selected based on a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm to maximize specificity given a fixed moderately high sensitivity using support vector machine learning methods. Model 1 used clinical parameters only (C), Model 2 used imaging features only (I), and Model 3 used clinical and imaging features (C+I). Sensitivity, specificity, area under a receiver-operating characteristic curve (AUC), and p-values were compared to assess ability to predict locoregional and distant failure.

C+I had the highest performance for both locoregional failure (AUC 0.84, p < 0.01; specificity 0.86; sensitivity 0.79) and distant failure (AUC 0.75, p < 0.01; specificity 0.75; sensitivity 0.75).

Based on a moderately high fixed sensitivity and optimized for specificity, the model using both clinical parameters and imaging features (C+I) had the best performance in predicting both locoregional failure and distant failure.

In this paper, the insider's perspective takes central stage by seeking to explore what it means to be labelled a "vulnerable person", and through this to further our insight into the meaning of the concept of vulnerability. Method Thirty-three in-depth interviews were conducted with 16 allegedly vulnerable people. The data were subjected to thematic content analysis. Results Our analysis revealed three main dimensions and eight sub-dimensions of perceived vulnerability, outlining an insider's concept of vulnerability. This concept includes manifestations of vulnerability, feelings coexisting with vulnerability, and the image of vulnerable people. Conclusion The perception of vulnerability changes when interacting with others in society, especially with social policy implementers. In this interaction, the perceived vulnerability increases and becomes societal vulnerability. It concerns a dependency situation in which one's strength and self-determination are not recognized, and the help needed is not provided. By acknowledging the insider's perspective, social policy can fulfil a more empowering role towards "vulnerable people" and contribute to people's well-being.One of the long recognized challenges in Adult Protective Services and other human service works is the implementation of empirically validated tools into regular practice. One area where this is evident is the assessment of financial decision-making abilities in cases investigated for financial exploitation.
