Method This observational study analysis of environmental health risks. The sample was 100 people who have been based on the specified criteria. Data collected through environmental observation, an examination of water samples and questionnaires. Determination of phenol and arsenic using AAS methods. Results Phenol concentration in surface waters is 0.193mg/L, the average concentration of phenol in the underground water 0.1268mg/L while the concentration of arsenic in surface water and underground water is 0.01mg/L. Conclusion Risk level of non-carcinogenic effect suggests that the rate of water consumption as well as the duration of exposure is very influential on the level of public health risk. Objective This study compares mercury measurements at several community's sites for air, soil and water samples. Method This observational analytic applied accidentally random sampling for communities and environmental samples. Total mercury (THg) contaminated concentration sample derived from surround cement processes. Samples of air, water column and soil were collected in one time. Results it implied that THg concentration value in the air, water and soil range from 1.0126 to 4.1172μg/m3, 0.0750 to 2.0805μg/L-1 and 11.057 to 32.036μg/kg-1dw, respectively. In the average, the magnitude of Hg level was in the surface soils>Air>surface water, respectively. The value of ecological risks was range from 3.0-4.4, 0.16-0.22 in the air, 3.0-4.4, 0.16-0.22 in water and 3.0-4.4, 0.16-0.22 in surface soil, respectively. Conclusion Mercury Risk values are still lower than standard and ecological risks still low hazard, those value however may increase due to occurrence of accumulation on those sites. Objective This study aimed to prove the effect of Selenium during periconception to the level of Malodialdehyde in pregnancy. Methods This study was double blind, randomised, control community based trial design. The intervention group (10 periconception women) received Selenium in Multimicronutrient (MMN), while the control group (22 periconception women) given capsules containing Iron and Folic Acid. During preconceptional period, the capsules was given once a week, while in pregnant women was once a day. At the 12th and 20th weeks of pregnancy, selenium and MDA were measured. Statistical analysis using independent T-test, Paired T-Test and PLS analysis. Results At the 12th weeks of pregnancy the level of MDA in Multimicronutrient group was 121.2ng/mL and IFA group was 1436ng/mL, and at the 20th weeks in MMN group was 108.4ng/Ml and IFA group was 199.6ng/mL. There was a no significant difference between MDA in two groups (p=0.424) at 12th week, but at 20th weeks MMN group had a significantly lower MDA levels (p=0.006) than IFA group. Conclusion The administration of selenium in MMN preparations since the preconception period has a better effect in reducing MDA levels compared to the IFA group. Objective The study aimed to explore food taboos among pregnant women and children in the city of Palu. Methods It was a qualitative study with 40 people and 8 traditional leaders of Kaili tribe in the regions of Palu city were included. Questionnaires and recording tools were used as study instruments. Results The food that prohibited to be prepared for children are duck, rice, cassava, lamb, moringa leaves, purple sweet potatoes, corn, kale, cassava leaves while pregnant women are prohibited to consume brown sugar, pineapple, durian, sticky rice, mango, yellow pumpkin, banana sticks. Food prohibited for those two groups included sago, squid, shrimp, crab, fish, jackfruit, eggplant. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/ly3023414.html Food taboo in pregnant women is mostly fruit and protein for children. Conclusion The food taboo is still commonly found in the Kaili tribe in Palu City. The foods are believed to induce something negative and are mystical things if consumed in groups of people or certain circumstances. Food taboos can cause limited intake of nutrients consumed, resulting in malnutrition and impact on the quality of human resources in the future. Objective This study was conducted to assess the effect of ML supplementation in women during pregnancy and lactation on growth and morbidity of 6-11 month-old infants. Method This study was an intervention study and followed with Cohort to the infants at 6-11 month-old. The subjects were pregnant women who were divided into three groups a group who received ML powder (MLP, n=103), a group receiving ML extract (MLE, n=94), and a group consuming iron folic acid (IFA, n=111). Growth and morbidity measurement were assessed each month. The data was analyzed using ANOVA test and Chi-squares. Results The study showed that prevalence of malnutrition at 6-11 month-old infants ranged from 7.8% to 14.9% for malnutrition and 2.6-7.1% of wasting and there were not significantly different among all age groups (p>0.05). Moreover, prevalence of stunting was 26.3-40.9% and there were significant difference among groups in some age periods. The prevalence of stunting was significantly lower in IFA compared to MLP and MLE groups (p less then 0.05). Diarrhea and upper respiratory infection were found but lower across the age periods (0.65-4.55%). Conclusion The study concluded that ML supplement in pregnant and lactating women could not protect infants from stunting. Objective The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of educational game usage in increasing self-protection capabilities at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Wahyu Cibubur. Method The method of this research used Quasi Experiment research with descriptive analytic with one group pretest and posttest design. The population in this research was all the students in 1st grade amounted to 46 students, the technique used to collect the sample for this research was the total of sampling at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Wahyu Cibubur. Result From the result of Mc Nemar data processing stated that there was an effect of the educational game usage in increasing self-protection capability with a p-Value (p=0.000). Conclusion Educational game is capable in increasing self-protection capability. This media can be applied to the children in other schools and as the reference for the further research.
