Saskatchewan has a high prevalence of diabetes. It is the largest, rurally populated, predominantly agricultural province in Canada. This research aims to determine the risk factors associated with the incidence and longitudinal changes in the prevalence of diabetes among Saskatchewan's adult rural farm and non-farm residents.

The Saskatchewan Rural Health Study
SRHS) is a prospective cohort study conducted in two phases a baseline survey (2010, 8261 participants) and a follow-up survey (2014, 4867 participants). Generalized estimation equations and survival analysis techniques were used to determine diabetes prevalence and incidence risk factors, respectively.

Incidence of diabetes among rural residents was 2.75%. Positive family history, high BMI, sleep apnea and an abnormal Epworth Sleepiness Score (ESS) were significant predictors for diabetes incidence. A substantial increase (1.98%) of diabetes prevalence was observed after four years of follow-up. Risk factors of diabetes prevalence were increato identify a causal linkage. Increased diabetes risk among rural male insecticide users indicates an adverse consequence of unprotected chemical exposures in the agricultural field. Urgent population-based preventive measures should initiate to slow the increasing trend of diabetes prevalence among rural residents.
The aim of this semi-experimental study was the determination of collaborative care model training on diabetic foot ulcer patients' quality of life.

Demographic characteristics and life's quality questionnaires were used, and to implement the collaborative model that included (including four steps of motivation, preparation, engagement, and evaluation), 60 patients divided into two "experiment" and "control" groups. For the experimental group, the program was done by face to face education and pamphlet through one hour in seven sessions. Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistical methods. SPSS 24 was used for data analysis.

Findings showed the differences of the scores of life's quality dimensions (except the economic situation), which was significant between both groups after the implementation of the collaborative care model (
 < 0.001).

The implementation of collaborative care model can be effective to improve diabetic foot ulcer patients' quality of life.

To explorenurses' experiences of providing education on self- care management to patients with diabetes.

A qualitative phenomenological study using semi-structured interview on all nine certified diabetic nurse educators in the main hospital and health centres in Brunei. Prolonged engagement with participants and data, and member checking were employed to ensure thematic analysis was trustworthy.

Three main themes emerged; 1) Factors of effective teaching strategies that emphasizes on assessing patients' knowledge and education level to provide individualised instructional plan, which need to follow latest ministerial guidelines and effective pedagogy; 2) Barriers to provide effective education including psychological, financial, and lack of familial support, 3) Overcoming barriers through parallel health education and counselling, referring to medical social worker and non-governmental organizations, and inclusion of family members and carers in plan of care.

Diabetic nurse educator plays a crucial rimprove quality of life. More research are still needed to explore experiences and innovation solutions from nurses in different parts of the world to better inform policymakers and improve organisational and national guidelines for management of patients with diabetes.
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterised by chronic hyperglycemia. The present research work aimed to evaluate the hypoglycaemic, hypolipidemic and antioxidant effects of leafy stems of
Gilg & Brandt in insulin resistant rats.

The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) was performed in normal rats. Hyperglycemia was induced for 8days by a daily subcutaneous injection of dexamethasone (1mg/kg) one hour after pretreatment of animals with metformin (40mg/kg) and
extract (111, 222 and 444mg/kg). Body weight, blood glucose, insulin level, lipid profile, insulin biomarkers, cardiovascular indices and oxidative stress biomarkers were evaluated.

For OGTT, the extract (444mg/kg) produced a significant drop in blood sugar at the 60th (
 < 0.01), 90th (p < 0.01) and 120th min (
< 0.05). Morever, the extract at doses of 222 and 111mg/kg significantly reduced blood sugar at the 60th (
 < 0.01) and 90th min (
 < 0.05) respectively. Otherwise,
(444 and 222mg/kg) significantly (
< 0.001) increased body weight and decreased blood sugar on the 4th and 8th days of treatment in insulin resistant rats. The extract also significantly decreased (
< 0.001) serum insulin level, hyperlipidemia, insulin resistance index and cardiovascular indices, and increased gluthathione level, and superoxide dismutase and catalase activity.

The aqueous extract of
leafy stems (AECPLS) possess hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic and antioxidant activities that could justify its use in traditional medicine for the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus and its complications.

The effectiveness of diabetes self-management interventions has been more generally demonstrated in adults, but there is little evidence of diabetes self-management specific to older adults situated in Iran. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Persian Diabetes Self-Management Education on self-efficacy, quality of life, self-care activity, depression and loneliness in older adults with type 2 diabetes.

In pilot randomized controlled trial, a total of 34 participants ≥60years with type 2 diabetes were randomly assigned into intervention (
= 17) and control (n = 17) group in an outpatient diabetes clinic in Tehran. find more To assess the primary outcome of participant experiences, the Diabetes Management Self-efficacy Scale (DMSES) was the method of measurement. The Diabetes Quality of Life-Basic Clinical Inventory (DQoL-BCI), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Diabetes Self-Management Education Scale (DSMES), and adult Social-Emotional Loneliness Scale Short form (SELSA-S) were usepealing to begin further testing within a larger sample population.
The study depicts a promising impact on older adults, imparted by the pertinent program. The finding showed PDSME has a positive effect on quality of life and medical control domain of self-efficacy. This pilot study showed that the program is feasible and duly beneficial if delivered to older adults. This pilot proves appealing to begin further testing within a larger sample population.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is the known cause of morbidity and mortality among diabetes mellitus (DM) patients. Targeted screening of renal impairment based on estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) among DM patients has potential benefits in early identification and treatment of CKD. Hence, this study was aimed to estimate the magnitude of renal impairment using eGFR among type 2 DM patients.

An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted from February-1 to April 30/2020 among 422 type 2 DM patients in Northeast Ethiopia. link2 Data were collected by the semi-structured questioner and serum creatinine measurement. The collected data were edited into Epi-data manager version 4.4.1.0, and the analysis was performed by SPSS-25. The Simplified Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD), Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology (CKD-EPI), and Cockcroft-Gault (C-G) equations were used to calculate eGFR.

Of all study participants, 82(19.4%), 92(21.8%), and 103(24.4%) had eGFR < 60ml/min/1.73m
, ac age, female sex, duration, hypertension, poor glycemic control, and BMI were significantly associated with renal impairment.
The aim of this study was to explore the frequency and distribution of depression in Barbadian adults with type 2 diabetes.

Adults aged 20-80years with type 2 diabetes, completed a cross-sectional survey comprised of, a profile section, and the standardized questionnaire; the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). Additionally, biological (HbA1c and blood pressure) measurements were collected.

For the 509 participants, 65.4%, 1.4%, 22% and 8% showed minimal, moderately severe to severe; mild and moderate depression respectively. Female participants ranked higher in depression than males. Persons who reported having never been married were identified as having the greatest prevalence of mild and severe depression. There was a small positive correlation between glycemic control and depression.

The results suggest that the presence of this affective disorder may be under-recognized in Barbadian patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Management protocol could incorporate the screening for depression.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the main cause of deaths among non-communicable diseases. Arguments about the best prevention strategy to control CVDs' risk factors continue. We evaluated the population attributable fraction (PAF) of CVDs in different levels of plasma cholesterol.

Patients' data were obtained from Iran STEPs 2016 study. In phase 0 we estimated PAF regardless of cholesterol levels and clinical factors. In phase 1 we calculated PAF based on three levels of cholesterol (<200, 200-240, ≥240mg/dl). In phase 2 we estimated PAF in 3 groups considering lipid-lowering drugs. In phase 3 all treated participants and not treated hypercholesterolemic people were included, to evaluate the impact of treatment. Estimations were done for Ischemic heart disease (IHD) and ischemic stroke (IS), and for two sex.

In phase 0, the highest PAF for IHD and IS were 0.35 (95% confidence interval 0.29-0.41) and 0.22 (0.18-0.27) for females and 0.27 (0.22-0.32) and 0.18 (0.14-0.22) for males. link3 In phase 1, the highest PAF belonged to population with cholesterol ≥240mg/dl and IHD, as 0.
