This longitudinal study started during the government-ordered confinement period in Switzerland in mid-April 2020 and will end in mid-2021.

The findings of this survey will provide information about the impact of confinement during the COVID-19 crisis on the physical activity, nutritional habits, and sleep behavior of students and employees of a Swiss institute.

The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected the mental health of university students.

This study examined the psychological responses toward COVID-19 among university students from 3 countries-Indonesia, Taiwan, and Thailand.

We used a web-based, cross-sectional survey to recruit 1985 university students from 5 public universities (2 in Indonesia, 1 in Thailand, and 1 in Taiwan) via popular social media platforms such as Facebook, LINE, WhatsApp, and broadcast. All students (n=938 in Indonesia, n=734 in Thailand, and n=313 in Taiwan) answered questions concerning their anxiety, suicidal thoughts (or sadness), confidence in pandemic control, risk perception of susceptibility to infection, perceived support, resources for fighting infection, and sources of information in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among the 3 student groups, Thai students had the highest levels of anxiety but the lowest levels of confidence in pandemic control and available resources for fighting COVID-19. Factors associatee results of this study indicate a negative association between support and suicidal thoughts.
Social distancing and public policy have been crucial for minimizing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in the United States. Publicly available, county-level time series data on mobility are derived from individual devices with global positioning systems, providing a variety of indices of social distancing behavior per day. Such indices allow a fine-grained approach to modeling public behavior during the pandemic. Previous studies of social distancing and policy have not accounted for the occurrence of pre-policy social distancing and other dynamics reflected in the long-term trajectories of public mobility data.

We propose a differential equation state-space model of county-level social distancing that accounts for distancing behavior leading up to the first official policies, equilibrium dynamics reflected in the long-term trajectories of mobility, and the specific impacts of four kinds of policy. The model is fit to each US county individually, producing a nationwide data set of novel estimated mobility indicesge. The model is implemented in a graphical online app for exploring county-level statistics and running counterfactual simulations. Future studies can incorporate the model-derived indices of social distancing and policy impacts as important social determinants of COVID-19 health outcomes.
Although electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) has been extensively used for depressive episodes in bipolar disorder (BDD), it has received less interest in research compared with major depressive disorder (MDD). Studies comparing the efficacy of ECT in BDD and MDD have been contradictory. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of ECT in BDD and MDD, analyzing the influence of clinical features on outcome.

The medical charts and electronic records of 107 patients (MDDn = 75 [70.1 %], BDD n = 32 [29.9 %]) receiving bi-temporal ECT were investigated retrospectively. Features of the index episode, such as the time elapsed until ECT and the effect of diagnosis on efficacy evaluated by the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D), were analyzed.

The diagnostic groups were alike concerning clinical features of the index episode, such as the presence of psychotic symptoms and suicidality. Patient age and the number of previous affective episodes were significantly different between the groups. The time elapsed until ECT in the examined episode was significantly longer in the MDD group. Compared with the MDD group, the BDD group had a significantly higher remission rate with ECT. Regression analysis revealed that BDD diagnosis, older age, and shorter time until ECT were significantly associated with remission.

The significant relationship observed between greater time elapsed until ECT and worse outcome is noteworthy in terms of clinical practice. This finding further challenges the widely accepted place of ECT as the "last resort" for the treatment of depression in bipolar and unipolar affective disorders.

This study aimed to assess the relationship between neurocognition (NC) and social cognition (SC) in patients with schizophrenia during the symptomatic phase and the phase of clinical remission.

Thirty-two patients were assessed on Color trail test (CTT), Hopkins verbal learning test (HVLT), Controlled oral word association (COWA) test, Wisconsin card sorting test (WCST), Ravens standard progressive matrices (SPM) and Social cognition rating tool in Indian setting (SOCRATIS) during symptomatic and remission phases of illness at least 3 months apart.

Compared to baseline assessment, even after controlling for PANSS scores except for social perception index all other domains of SC showed significant improvement at the time of remission. Although there was significant improvement in a few subtests of verbal learning, IQ and number of correct responses of COWA, colour trail test, no significant difference was seen in performance on WCST. Although second order theory of mind task had some association with IQ at the baseline assessment, no association was seen between SC and NC in the remission phase.

To conclude, present study suggests that impairments in all the domains of SC (except for social perception index) and NC (except for WCST) improve in the remission phase.

Previously published finite element modeling showed that both the horn and bone materials play important roles in reducing brain cavity accelerations during ramming. However, in that study the elastic modulus of bone was assumed to be similar to that of human bone since the modulus of ram bone was unknown. Therefore, the goal of this study was to quantify the mechanical properties, mineral content, porosity, and microstructural organization of horncore cortical bone from juvenile and adult rams. Mineral content and elastic modulus increased with horn size, and porosity decreased. However, modulus of toughness did not change with horn size. This latter finding raises the possibility that the horncore cortical bone has not adapted exceptional toughness despite an extreme loading environment and may function primarily as an interface material between the horn and the porous bone within the horncore. Thus, geometric properties of the horn and horncore, including the porous bone architecture, may be more important for energy absorption during ramming than the horncore cortical bone. Results from this study can be used to improve accuracy of finite element models of bighorn sheep ramming to investigate these possibilities moving forward.This paper studies the uranium content and uranium isotopic disequilibria as a tool to identify hydrogeochemical processes from 52 groundwater samples in the province of Granada (Betic Cordillera, southeastern Spain). According to the geological complexity of the zone, three groups of samples have been considered. In Group 1 (thermal waters; longest residence time), the average uranium content was 2.63 ± 0.16 μg/L, and 234U/238U activity ratios (AR) were the highest of all samples, averaging 1.92 ± 0.30. In Group 2 (mainly springs from carbonate aquifers; intermediate residence time), dissolved uranium presented an average value of 1.34 ± 0.13 μg/L, while AR average value was 1.38 ± 0.25. Group 3 comes from pumping wells in a highly anthropized alluvial aquifer. In this group, where the residence time of the groundwater is the shortest of the three, average uranium content was 5.28 ± 0.26 μg/L, and average AR is the lowest (1.17 ± 0.12). In addition, the high dissolved uranium value and the low AR brought to light the contribution of fertilizers (Group 3). In the three groups, 235U/238U activity ratios were similar to the natural value of 0.046. Therefore, 235U detected in the samples comes from natural sources. This study is completed with the determination of major ions and physicochemical parameters in the groundwater samples and the statistical analysis of the data by using the Principal Component Analysis. This calculation indicates the correlation between uranium isotopes and bicarbonate and nitrate anions.This study was carried out in the forest area of the Gomel region of Belarus contaminated by 137Cs following the Chernobyl accident of 1986. The aim of the study was to explore the effects of different types of wildfires on the biological availability of radionuclides and the distribution of algal communities in fire-affected soils. Soil samples were collected in 2017 and 2018 from sites burnt by surface and crown fires, and from two unburnt reference locations. The proportions of various 137Cs fractions, according to our findings, differ between fire-affected and unburnt forest soils, and also between the different types of wildfire. The forest soil affected by surface fire is characterized by an increased amount of easily exchangeable and mobile fractions. In the forest burnt by the crown fire, where the above ground vegetation was almost completely destroyed, the mobile fractions of 137Cs are easily washed out from the topsoil, allowing them to penetrate into deeper soil layers. Soil algae play an important ecological role in sustaining terrestrial ecosystems and are sensitive to various physicochemical properties of soil, such as pH level, nutrient content and moisture. Most of these physicochemical properties are known to stimulate the growth of algal cells, however no evidence has been found in this study regarding the relationship between 137Cs activities in soil and the algal species richness.A chelating agent in an adequate dose used to enhance phytoremediation of radionuclide-contaminated soil should not inhibit the growth of the plant. If this constraint condition is satisfied, the total bioaccumulation amount (TBA) of radionuclide by the plant can be maximized. link2 This is a constrained optimization problem to determine the adequate dose of the chelating agent for phytoremediation of radionuclide-contaminated soil. link3 In this research, an adequate dose of a chelating agent for phytoremediation of radionuclide-contaminated soil was determined by a novel approach using pot experiments. The proposed approach was applied to specify the adequate doses of citric acid (CA) and S,S-ethylenediamine disuccinic acid (EDDS) for phytoremediation of uranium contaminated soil by M. Cordata. By using this method, the adequate doses of CA and EDDS for phytoremediation of 238U, 232Th and 226Ra contaminated soils by M. cordata were measures as 10.0 and 5.0 mmol kg-1, respectively. The results showed that the approach could be used to establish the adequate dose of a chelating agent for phytoremediation of radionuclide or other toxic heavy metal contaminated soil by a plant.
