We de novo assembled and annotated chloroplast genomes of four genera representing three subfamilies of Araceae Lasia spinosa (Lasioideae), Stylochaeton bogneri, Zamioculcas zamiifolia (Zamioculcadoideae), and Orontium aquaticum (Orontioideae), and performed comparative genomics using these chloroplast genomes. The sizes of the chloroplast genomes ranged from 163,770 bp to 169,982 bp. These genomes comprise 113 unique genes, including 79 protein-coding, 4 rRNA, and 30 tRNA genes. Among these genes, 17-18 genes are duplicated in the inverted repeat (IR) regions, comprising 6-7 protein-coding (including trans-splicing gene rps12), 4 rRNA, and 7 tRNA genes. The total number of genes ranged between 130 and 131. The infA gene was found to be a pseudogene in all four genomes reported here. link3 These genomes exhibited high similarities in codon usage, amino acid frequency, RNA editing sites, and microsatellites. The experiments were carried out on hydroponically grown Solanumtuberosum L. tubers that were infected before storage with Fusarium oxysporum and coated with B.subtilis 10-4, 26D with and without exogenous SA, and then stored for six months. It has been shownthat 10-4, 26D, 10-4 + SA, and 26D + SA reduced in different levels (up to 30-50%) the incidence ofF. oxysporum-caused dry rot (with the highest effect for 10-4 + SA). SA notably enhanced the positiveeffect of 10-4, while for 26D, such an effect was not observed. In 2015, we identified Daxx as an antiretroviral factor that interfered with HIV-1 replication by inhibiting the reverse transcription step. In the present study, we sought to unravel the molecular mechanism of Daxx-mediated restriction and, in particular, to identify the protein(s) that Daxx targets in order to achieve its antiviral activity. First, we show that the SUMO-interacting motif (SIM) located at the C-terminus of the protein is strictly required for Daxx to inhibit HIV-1 reverse transcription. By performing a quantitative proteomic screen combined with classical biochemical analyses, we found that Daxx associated with incoming HIV-1 cores through a SIM-dependent interaction with cyclophilin A (CypA) and capsid (CA). Daxx was found to reside within a multiprotein complex associated with viral capsids, also containing TNPO3, TRIM5α, and TRIM34. Given the well-known influence of these cellular factors on the stability of HIV-1 cores, we investigated the effect of Daxx on the cytoplasmic fate of incoming cores and found that Daxx prevented HIV-1 uncoating in a SIM-dependent manner. Altogether, our findings suggest that, by recruiting TNPO3, TRIM5α, and TRIM34 and possibly other proteins onto incoming HIV-1 cores through a SIM-dependent interaction with CA-bound CypA, Daxx increases their stability, thus preventing uncoating and reverse transcription. Our study uncovers a previously unknown function of Daxx in the early steps of HIV-1 infection and further illustrates how reverse transcription and uncoating are two tightly interdependent processes.Several cell populations derived from bone marrow (BM) have been shown to possess cardiac regenerative potential. The production process in cork industries commonly includes a washing procedure based on water and temperature cycles in order to reduce off-flavors and decrease the amount of trichloroanisole (TCA) in cork samples. The treatment has been demonstrated to be effective for the designed purpose, but chemical changes in the volatile fraction of the cork sample are produced, which need to be further investigated through the chemometric examination of data obtained from the headspace. Ordinary principal component analysis (PCA) based on the numerical description provided by the chromatographic area of several target compounds was inconclusive. This led us to consider a new tool, which is presented here for the first time for an application in the chromatographic field. The superposing significant interaction rules (SSIR) method is a variable selector which directly analyses the raw internal data coming from the spectrophotometer software and, combined with PCA and discriminant analysis, has been able to separate a group of 56 cork samples into two groups treated and non-treated. This procedure revealed the presence of two compounds, furfural and 5-methylfurfural, which are increased in the case of treated samples. These compounds explain the sweet notes found in the sensory evaluation of the treated corks. The model that is obtained is robust; the overall sensitivity and specificity are 96% and 100%, respectively. Furthermore, a leave-one-out cross-validation calculation revealed that all of the samples can be correctly classified one at a time if three or more PCA descriptors are considered.Recently, natural fiber-reinforced polymers (NFRPs) have become important materials in many engineering applications; thus, to employ these materials some final industrial processes are needed, such as cutting, trimming, and drilling. Because of the heterogeneous nature of NFRPs, which differs from homogeneous materials such as metals and polymers, several defects have emerged when processing the NFRPs through traditional cutting methods such as high surface roughness and material damage at cutting zone. In order to overcome these challenges, unconventional cutting methods were considered. Unconventional cutting methods did not take into account the effects of cutting forces, which are the main cause of cutting defects in traditional cutting processes. The most prominent unconventional cutting processes are abrasive waterjet (AWJM) and laser beam (LBM) cutting technologies, which are actually applied for cutting various NFRPs. In this study, previously significant studies on cutting NFRPs by AWJM and LBM are discussed.
