9% and 54.9%) and nasopharyngitis (18.1% and 29.4%) in Study 1 and Study 2, respectively. Severe AEs including asthma (exacerbation) were reported in 13.8% and 13.7% of patients in Study 1 and Study 2, respectively. In Study 1, 10 patients (10.6%) reported treatment-related AEs, of which dysphonia (9 patients [9.6%]) was the most commonly reported; no treatment-related AEs were reported in Study 2. In Study 1, one death (not study drug-related) was reported after study discontinuation (92 days after last dose of study medication).
Once-daily IND/GLY/MF and IND/MF high-dose were well-tolerated in Japanese patients with inadequately controlled asthma. No unexpected safety findings were observed.

Several antioxidants are available for the treatment of male infertility. Although the benefit of myo-inositol (MYO) and D-chiro-inositol (DCI) for female infertility is recognized, their role in male infertility is a matter of debate.
The authors review the impact that treatment with MYO and/or DCI may have on conventional and bio-functional sperm parameters [mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), sperm chromatin compactness, and sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF)], seminal oxidative stress (OS), and pregnancy, miscarriage, and live birth rates, and the possible mechanisms involved. Furthermore, the authors gather evidence on the effects of MYO and/or DCI on sperm function
.
MYO can improve sperm count, motility, capacitation, acrosome reaction, and MMP. No data are currently available on the effects of DCI
. Both MYO and DCI ameliorate sperm motility and MMP
. Therefore, the use of inositols should be preferred in patients with idiopathic asthenozoospermia, especially in case of impaired sperm mitochondrial function. Due to their insulin-sensitizing action, a role for these molecules may be envisaged for the treatment of infertility caused by carbohydrate metabolism derangement.

To compare the effects of active and passive calf muscle contraction on the hemodynamics of the lower extremity vein.
30 females were selected by convenient sampling. The hemodynamic indexes of the common femoral vein were measured by Duplex ultrasound during the active ankle pump exercise, active circular exercise, passive ankle pump exercise, passive circular exercise, and massage the calf muscles.
There was no significant difference in the velocity of common femoral vein when the subjects do active ankle pump exercise, active circular exercise, and massage the calf muscles (
> .05), but the velocity of common femoral vein was faster than that of passive ankle pump exercise and passive circular exercise (
< .01).
The effects of active ankle exercise and massage on promoting venous blood return of lower extremity are better than that of passive ankle exercise.

Surgery is associated with a post-operative stress response, changes in cardiopulmonary reserve, and metabolic demand. Here recovery after abdominal aortic aneurysm repair is investigated using cardiopulmonary exercise testing and patient-reported questionnaires.
Patients undergoing open (
= 21) or endovascular (
= 21) repair undertook cardiopulmonary exercise tests, activity, and health score questionnaires pre-operatively and, 8 and 16 weeks, post-operatively. Oxygen uptake and ventilatory parameters were measured, and routine blood tests were undertaken.
Recovery was characterised by falls in anaerobic threshold, peak oxygen uptake, and oxygen pulse at 8 weeks which appeared to be associated with operative severity; the fall in peak oxygen uptake was greater following open
endovascular repair (3.5
1.6 ml
kg
min
) and anaerobic threshold showed a similar tendency (3.1
1.7 ml
kg
min
). In the smaller number of patients re-tested these changes resolved by 16 weeks. Reported health andover, the impact may be greater in endovascular vs. open repair.
The objective of this study was to compare the effects of horizontal muscle transposition and inferior oblique weakening combined with horizontal surgery performed for V-pattern exotropia (XT) and to determine the most successful approach.
In our retrospective study, 52 patients who underwent horizontal surgery due to V-pattern XT and were followed up for at least 6 months were divided into two groups. Group 1 (n = 26) consisted of patients who underwent vertical transposition of the rectus muscles combined with horizontal surgery, and group 2 (n = 26) consisted of patients who underwent inferior oblique weakening combined with horizontal surgery. The two groups were compared before and after surgery in terms of visual acuity, refractive errors, deviation angles, pattern strabismus, fusion, stereopsis, over/under correction and surgical success.
There was no difference between the two groups in terms of age, follow-up period, visual acuity, refractive errors, fusion or stereopsis. The amount of horizontal deviation was smaller in group 2 at the 1-6-month follow-ups. There was no difference between the two groups in terms of pattern collapse; however, the amount of pattern postoperatively was lower in group 2. The two groups were similar in terms of overcorrection; however, the undercorrection rate was higher in group 1. The surgical success rate was higher in group 2.
Inferior oblique weakening combined with horizontal surgery due to V-pattern XT was found to be superior to vertical transposition of the horizontal muscles in terms of surgical success and the amount of pattern postoperatively.

Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) is the most common cause of optic nerve swelling and optic neuropathy in adults over 50 years of age. It has been rarely reported during pregnancy, mostly related to systemic and ocular predisposing conditions.
We report the case of a 44 years-old healthy female with no previous remarkable clinical history. She had in vitro fertilisation treatment to get pregnant. 18 days after uneventful cesarean section she referred sudden painless vision loss in her right eye (RE), denser inferiorly, with concurrent optic disc edema and relative afferent pupillary defect. click here Steroid intravenous treatment during the acute episode showed no improvement. Our patient showed normal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), blood test, autoimmune disease biomarkers, infectious serology and inflammatory markers. She was diagnosed of RE NAION. After one year follow-up visual field defect remains stable.
As far as we know this is the first report of NAION after in vitro fertilisation, uneventful pregnancy and cesarean section showing no systemic or ocular risk factors other than a small cup to disc ratio. Hemodynamic and hormonal changes during late pregnancy and uneventful cesarean section can trigger an episode of NAION in a healthy young woman.

To explore and describe families' and professionals' perspectives about building and maintaining engagement in telepractice early intervention (EI).
Individual semi-structured reflexive interviews were conducted with Australian families of young children with communication disability receiving telepractice EI and their treating professionals. These interviews were conducted within one day of a telepractice EI session and analysed using thematic analysis.
Thematic analysis of 72 interviews resulted in five themes that emphasised collaboration as an overarching enabler of engagement. The themes were (1) the delivery of family-centred telepractice was essential for engaging children and families; (2) engagement in telepractice was variable and was affected by child, parent and professional factors; (3) engagement was an investment that required time, consistency and technology; (4) maximising communication interactions during telepractice sessions encouraged children and families to engage with professionadvantage of the home environment, communicating inside and outside appointments, and jointly planning with parents/primary carers.EI professionals and students who work with young children with communication disability via telepractice can benefit by considering the engagement-building strategies described in the present study.Numerous studies have reported that patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) experience alterations in the sense of smell. Therefore, there is an increased need for a psychophysical evaluation tool for olfactory dysfunction in patients with COVID-19 without increasing the risk of virus spread. We applied a single-use sniffing-bead system, which consisted of small beads and a disposable plastic handpiece, to patients with COVID-19 presenting with olfactory dysfunction. The bead sets contained eight concentrations of 2-phenylethyl alcohol (PEA), which has been used in olfactory function tests for many years, and the lowest concentration at which the participant detected the PEA odor was recorded as the PEA threshold. The test was easily administered at the clinic during the consultation with the doctor without increasing the risk of virus spread. Based on the test results, anosmia was objectively confirmed in a patient with subjective anosmia, and another patient with subjective hyposmia was diagnosed with normosmia. Both patients started olfactory training after diagnosis. In conclusion, we present a system to psychophysically assess olfactory dysfunction in patients with COVID-19 using a universal odorant without the risk of virus spread, and suggest that this system might enable early diagnosis and management of patients with COVID-19.ABSTRACTCommon mental disorders (CMDs) are associated with poor HIV outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. The present study implemented a psychological therapy delivered in routine HIV care and examined its effects on HIV outcomes in Mozambique. The Common Elements Treatment Approach (CETA) was integrated into routine HIV care in Sofala, Mozambique for all newly-diagnosed HIV+ patients with CMD symptoms. HIV treatment initiation and retention were compared to overall facility averages (those enrolled in CETA + those not enrolled). Of 250 patients screened, 59% (n = 148 met the criteria for CETA enrollment, and 92.6 (n = 137) enrolled in CETA. After four CETA visits, CMD symptoms decreased >50% and suicidal ideation decreased 100%. Patients enrolling in CETA had an antiretroviral therapy initiation rate of 97.1%, one-month retention of 69.2%, and three-month retention of 82.4%. Patients in the comparison group had one-month retention of 66.0% and three-month retention of 68.0%. CETA may be a promising approach to reduce symptoms of CMDs and improve HIV care cascade outcomes in areas with high HIV prevalence.
