In this paper, the seepage properties of the natural gravel with particle sizes of 5, 20 and 60 mm were investigated under different laying conditions. The effect of the particle size, laying depth, bulk density and pressurized head on the seepage properties of the natural gravel was analyzed by using the combined methods of theoretical analysis with physical model test. The results showed that the seepage flow in the natural gravel was non-laminar flow in the test conditions described in this paper. Meanwhile, the relationship between particle size, laying depth, bulk density, pressurized heads and seepage property was established. The seepage discharge increased with the increase of the pressurized head and particle size, and decreased with the increasing of laying depth and bulk density. The critical laying depth and bulk density can be obtained when the seepage discharge becomes zero. The empirical formula of the seepage discharge of natural gravel with different particle sizes, laying depths, bulk densities and pressurized heads was obtained with the method of nonlinear regression, which can be expressed as Q=5.9546d0.3713γ-0.2974L-0.1156H0.1307-5.6614. The empirical formula was experimentally validated. The maximum relative error did not exceed 6.73%, proving that the empirical formula of the seepage discharge of natural gravel was rational. The results can provide an important reference to further studying the seepage properties of macropore media, and form a theoretical basis for applying the natural gravel in the seepage projects.
This study was designed to investigate whether the glucose lowering effects of
acts by modulating GLUT4, AKT2 and AMPK expression in the skeletal muscle and liver tissues.
Alloxan-induced diabetic mice treated with
was assessed for their blood glucose and insulin level, mRNA and protein expression using distinguished methods. Additionally, GLUT4, AKT2 and AMPK were docked with catechin, epicatechin, kaempferol, metformin, quercetin and ursolic acid reportedly present in
.
ameliorates hyperglycaemia and insulin sensitivity via activation of AKT2 and AMPK, increases the expression of GLUT4, AKT2, AMPKα1 and AMPKα2 whose levels are reduced under diabetic condition. Molecular docking revealed interacting residues and their binding affinities (-4.56 to -8.95 Kcal/mol).
These findings provide more clarity vis-avis the mechanism of action of the phytoceuticals present in
extract which function through their action on GLUT4, PKB and AMPK.

Sepsis is a serious and emergency condition that may lead to acute circulatory failure associated with infection. Serum lactate level of over 4 mmol/L is associated with sepsis mortality. However, there is limited data on using a point of care (POC) for fingertip lactate level on sepsis mortality in community hospital setting. This study aimed to evaluate roles of POC for serum lactate with combination of clinical factors on mortality prediction in sepsis patients.
This was a retrospective cohort study conducted at 7 community hospitals. The inclusion criteria were adult patients with diagnosis of sepsis who were tested for POC lactate level. Electronic chart reviews of eligible patients were performed. Predictors for mortality were computed using clinical factors and POC lactate level.
There were 1641 patients met the study criteria. The mortality rate was 8.96% (147 patients). There were 3 independent factors associated with mortality age, co-morbid diseases, and POC lactate level. The adjusted odds ratio (95% CI) of POC lactate level was 1.025 (1.002, 1.048). The cut point of serum lactate was 1.6 mmol/L gave sensitivity of 79.59% and specificity of 32.10%.
POC serum lactate level may be associated with mortality in sepsis patients at community hospitals. Lactate level of 1.6 mmol/L may be an indicator for mortality with good sensitivity. Physicians may consider more aggressive and prompt management in individuals with sepsis and POC serum lactate of 1.6 mmol/L or over.

Its etiology include defective suture techniques and infections. The clinical presentation includes allograft dysfunction, local mass effect, exsanguination, and rupture. Open surgical repair is associated with significant morbidity and allograft dysfunction. Endovascular stent-graft can be a less invasive, alternative approach. We describe a case of large pseudoaneurysm arising from the internal iliac artery in a post-renal transplant patient. It was successfully treated with the stent-graft. The externally compressed right common iliac vein was also treated with a self-expanding non-graft stent. Thus, endovascular approach can be an effective alternative to open repair for post-renal transplant iliac artery pseudoaneurysm.
LBX2 antisense RNA 1 (LBX2-AS1), a long noncoding RNA, has been identified to be closely associated with the progression of various cancers. However, the role of LBX2-AS1 in colorectal cancer (CRC) is still poorly understood. click here In this study, we aimed to investigate the expression and function of LBX2-AS1 in CRC.
Expression data from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) databases and results obtained from clinical samples/patients were used to determine the correlation between LBX2-AS1 expression and pathological stages, overall survival (OS). Furthermore, knockdown of LBX2-AS1 in CRC cells using the short interfering RNA (siRNA) technique, and observed its biological functions using western blotting, quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and flow cytometry assay in the CRC cell line.
Our study demonstrated that the expression levels of LBX2-AS1 were higher in CRC cell lines than in normal colon mucosal cell lines.
