To describe the behavior and social inequalities in prioritized indicators of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (ODS-3) among subpopulations and departments of Bolivia.

An analysis of the behavior of selected ODS-3 indicators over time was conducted. In addition, a study of social inequalities in these indicators was carried out for selected equity stratifiers. Simple measures (absolute gap and relative gap) and complex measures (slope inequality index and concentration index) were obtained to explore the magnitude of social inequalities.

The ODS-3 indicators that have increased significantly at the national and departmental levels are the prevalence of four prenatal controls and the prevalence of births attended by qualified health personnel. Social inequalities in these indicators have decreased significantly over time. The prevalence of adolescent pregnancy and its social inequalities have remained unchanged, although with low inequalities. The prevalence of modern contraceptive methods use has decreased slightly, although social inequality has declined more rapidly. The maternal mortality rate has decreased nationally and in most departments, but social inequality on this indicator still needs to be addressed.

Rarely can it also effect one or more of cranial nerves IX, X, XI, and XII. We present a case of malignant otitis externa which presented with symptomatic palsy of IX and XII nerves sparing the VII cranial nerve. The patient though later on had internal jugular vein thrombosis, which we presume is due to the involvement of the parapharyngeal space that prompted us to reconsider the diagnosis, and later on, to aggravate the therapy. With proper blood sugar control and appropriate long term antibiotics, not only that the patient is disease free at one year follow up, but the cranial nerve deficits also recovered. Apart from sharing the clinical and management details of this patient, we have reviewed the relevant literature in the discussion, which has shed some light onto some of the interesting facts about this condition and its prognosis.

Pubmed, Google and the Proquest Central Database at Kırıkkale University were queried using the keywords "graft", "success" "tympanoplasty", "success rate" with the search limited to the period 1955 to 2017.

Various types of graft materials including temporalis fascia, cartilage, perichondrium, periosteum, vein, fat or skin have been used in the reconstruction of tympanic membrane (TM) perforation. Although temporalis fascia ensures good hearing is restored, there are significant concerns that its dimensional stability characteristics may lead to residual perforation, especially where large TM perforations are involved. The "palisade cartilage" and "cartilage island" techniques have been stated to increase the strength and stability of a tympanic graft, but they may result in a less functional outcome in terms of restoring hearing. Smoking habits, the size and site of a perforation, the expertise level of the opergrafts are suitable for use in revision cases.
There are several physiological changes found in pregnant women and amongst them, otological changes are quite important. The otological manifestations in pregnant women are mainly due to changes of sex hormones levels, which return to normal in the postpartum period.

To report otological manifestations among pregnant women.

Eighty-four pregnant women participated in this prospective study. A questionnaire was administered in all participants for assessing otological manifestations. The pregnant women were in the age range of 22-35 years. see more They underwent thorough otological and obstetric examinations. Pure tone audiometry (PTA) was done for assessment of hearing loss.

The mean age of the pregnant women in this study was 26.23 years. The most common otological manifestation was sensation of ear blockage. Eustachian tube dysfunction was common in the last trimester of pregnancy. Other manifestations included vertigo and tinnitus.

To compare cerumenolytic effects of docusate sodium and of 2.5% sodium bicarbonate -
study; observe characteristics of the solution, using ultraviolet-visible (UV/Vis) spectroscopy, and measurement of cholesterol levels.

Samples of human cerumen were mixed to form a relatively homogenous paste. Samples of about 500 mg were weighed and packed at the bottom of the test tubes. To each tube was added 1.5 ml of either docusate sodium or 2.5% sodium bicarbonate. Tubes were incubated at 36.4 °C in a water bath for 15, 30 or 60 min. Following incubation, the supernatant solution was pipetted into a cuvette. The cerumenolytic efficacy was defined as the absorbance (recorded at 350 nm and 400 nm) of the solutions. Results were the average of three replicates. A cholesterol level of each sample was then determined to confirm the result.

Turbidity was much greater in tubes containing 2.5% sodium bicarbonate, indicating dissolution of cerumen. Mean difference of absorbance values measured at 350 nm and 400 nm after 15, 30, 60 min digestions were 1.
