We propose a new set of standardized guidelines for peptide markers based on their position in the type I collagen sequence from the beginning of the highly conserved, helical region. Since this region has no insertions or deletions over a wide range of taxonomic groups, the proposed nomenclature system can be used reliably and consistently across all vertebrate taxa. We propose to label ZooMS peptide markers with the gene, followed by the position of the first and last amino acid of the marker from the start of the helical region. SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT We propose a standardized nomenclature system for ZooMS peptide markers that provides consistent labels across multiple, broad taxonomic groups. Glutathione peroxidase (GPX), an enzyme that acts as a peroxide scavenger in different organisms, has been identified as an important component in the signaling pathway during the developmental process and in stress responses in plants and yeast. Here, we demonstrate that the mitochondrial isoform of rice (Oryza sativa L. ssp. Japonica cv. Nipponbare) OsGPX3 is induced after treatment with the phytohormone abscisic acid (ABA) and is involved in its responses and in epigenetic modifications. Plants that have been silenced for OsGPX3 (gpx3i) present substantial changes in the accumulation of proteins related to these processes. These plants also have several altered ABA responses, such as germination, ROS accumulation, stomatal closure, and dark-induced senescence. This study is the first to demonstrate that OsGPX3 plays a role in ABA signaling and corroborate that redox homeostasis enzymes can act in different and complex pathways in plant cells. SIGNIFICANCE This work proposes the mitochondrial glutathione peroxidase (OsGPX3) as a novel ABA regulatory pathway component. Our results suggest that this antioxidant enzyme is involved in ABA-responses, highlighting the complex pathways that these proteins can participate beyond the regulation of cellular redox status.New psychoactive substances (NPS) appear on the recreational market on a monthly basis, with unclear toxicology, resulting in an increasing number of fatalities. Identification of drug targets and potencies is crucial for understanding and treating intoxications and for scheduling processes. In this study 60 NPS and metabolites belonging to opioids, cannabinoids and serotonergic hallucinogens classes were screened for in vitro activation of the μ-opioid, CB1, 5-HT1A and 5-HT2A receptors using the AequoZen cell system. Fentanyl and NBOMe analogues were chosen for full dose-response characterization of the μ-opioid and 5-HT2A receptors, respectively. Most substances activated their corresponding target receptor. The most potent μ-opioid receptor agonists were 2-fluorofentanyl (EC50 = 1.0 nM), carfentanil (EC50 = 2.7 nM) and acrylfentanyl (EC50 = 2.8 nM) and in total a >1500-fold difference was seen among the tested compounds. Moreover, furanylfentanyl, 4-methoxybutyrylfentanyl and valerylfentanyl acted as partial agonists of the μ-receptor.
