This highlighted the need for new screening diagnostic tools that are clinically effective, but require minimal technical and time commitments, to stratify populations and identify who is more at risk for OP and related complications. This paper provides an overview of the potential use of blood-related factors, such as platelet (PLT)- and monocyte-related factors, as biomarkers able to quickly screen, detect, and monitor OP in both sexes. Such biomarkers might be of key importance not only during the COVID-19 pandemic but also, even more importantly, during periods of better global health stability.The objective of this study was to investigate the reliability of distal hamstring tendon morphology using freehand 3-D ultrasound (US). Freehand 3-D US scans were acquired for 16 young males and females, in two sessions, spaced a week apart. The length, volume, cross-sectional area (CSA) and echo intensity (EI) of the semitendinosus (ST), biceps femoris long and short head and semimembranosus (SM) tendons were acquired. Measurements of the CSA and EI were obtained from three sites along each tendon. The intra-class correlation coefficients ranged from 0.88-0.99 of the examined variables, indicating high test-retest reliability. In addition, the minimal detectable change (MDC) ranged from 0.255-3.766 mm (MDC% of the mean 0.406%-12.558%) for hamstring tendon length, from 0.036-0.077 mL (MDC% 1.548%-3.178%) for tendon volume, from 0.512-1.948 mm2 (MDC% 0.702%-3.586%) for CSA and from 0.898-2.586 au (MDC% 1.145%-3.325%) for EI. Of the four hamstring tendons, ST had the greatest length (141.587 ± 10.701 mm) and EI (94.637 ± 5.536 au), while SM had the greatest volume (3.056 ± 0.421 mL) and CSA (115.277 ± 16.442 mm2) relative to other tendons. Freehand 3-D US appears to be a reliable tool for the evaluation of hamstring distal tendon morphology; hence, its use for in vivo evaluation of tendon properties is promising.
Few studies have investigated the relationship between land expropriation and health and subjective well-being (SWB) in China. This study examines the impacts of land expropriation on health and SWB among Chinese farmers aged 16-85 years and explores whether these impacts vary with socioeconomic conditions.

We utilized longitudinal data from the China Family Panel Studies, a nationally representative survey. The analytic samples included over 10,000 individuals and over 30,000 person-year observations. Individual fixed-effects models were employed to eliminate the omitted-variable bias derived from time-constant unobserved confounders.

Land expropriation was harmful to health and SWB. First-time land expropriation increased the risks of physical discomfort, chronic diseases, hospitalization, and perceived health decline; raised the frequency of feeling depressed; and decreased self-rated health, life satisfaction, subjective social status, and confidence about the future. Repeated land expropriation and past land expropriation increased the risks of chronic diseases, raised depressive symptom severity, and lowered self-rated health and life satisfaction. Repeated land expropriation also elevated the risk of perceived health decline. In addition, preexisting household income per capita and baseline county-level GDP per capita buffered the adverse impacts of first-time land expropriation.

This study reveals the adverse impacts of land expropriation on health and SWB and highlights the importance of providing support to land-taken farmers to alleviate such detrimental effects.

Restricted hip range of motion (ROM) has been proposed as a useful diagnostic tool for osteoarthritis. The relations between the intraoperative hip ROM under anesthesia in total hip arthroplasty (THA) and recovery of clinical mobility outcomes were unclear. This study evaluated the association between the intraoperative hip ROM under anesthesia in THA and the postoperative recovery of clinical mobility, including cutting toenails and putting on socks after THA.

The study was performed as a prospective cohort study and included 93 hips in 85 patients who underwent primary anterior-based muscle-sparing THA in the supine position. The hip ROM was evaluated under anesthesia before skin incision and intraoperative stability test. The Japanese Orthopaedic Association Hip-Disease Evaluation Questionnaire (JHEQ) was evaluated. A questionnaire on whether and how patients could cut toenails and putting on socks was assessed. The relationship between hip ROM at intraoperative stability tests and JHEQ moving score, csting, especially the external rotation angle can predict postoperative outcomes and patient satisfaction for cutting toenails and putting on socks. We suggested that the capsule or capsular ligament release around the hip was increased to provide sufficient ROM without compromising stability.Three studies in Iranian and African families identified three different variants in the peptidyl-tRNA hydrolase domain containing 1 gene (PTRHD1) in patients affected by parkinsonism with intellectual impairment. In the current study, our objective was to investigate whether PTRHD1 variants are associated with Parkinson's disease (PD) risk and age at onset (AAO). To evaluate the association between PTRHD1 and PD risk, we analyzed whole genome sequencing data of 1647 PD cases and 1050 healthy controls, as well as genome-wide imputed genotyping data on 14,671 PD cases and 17,667 controls, all of European ancestry. Furthermore, we examined the association of PTRHD1 with PD risk and AAO using summary statistics data from the most recent PD genome-wide association study meta-analyses. Our results show no association between PTRHD1 and PD risk or AAO. We conclude that PTRHD1 does not play a major role in PD in the European population. Further large-scale studies including subjects with different ancestry and family trios are required.
Self-rated health has been extensively studied, but the utility of a similarly structured question to rate diet quality is not well characterized. This study aims to assess the relative validity of self-rated diet quality, compared with that of a validated diet quality measure (Healthy Eating Index-2015) and to examine the associations with cardiometabolic risk factors.

Analyses were conducted in 2020-2021 using cross-sectional data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2011-2018. Nonpregnant adults who responded to the question How healthy is your overall diet? and provided 2 dietary recalls were eligible (n=16,913). Associations between self-rated diet quality (modeled as a 5-point continuous variable, poor=1 to excellent=5) and Healthy Eating Index-2015 scores and cardiometabolic risk factors were assessed by linear regression, accounting for the complex survey design and adjusting for demographic and lifestyle characteristics.

The score of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) less than 26 was defined as cognitive impairment at hospital discharge and short-term post-ICU cognitive impairment was diagnosed in 185 of 409 assessed patients (45.2%). According to univariate analysis, age, years of education, occupation, past medical history, main ICU diagnosis, Acute Physiology and Chronic Evaluation Scoring System (APACHE II) score, Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score, Charlson comorbidity index, ICU length-of-stay (LOS), total hospital LOS, sedation, vasoactive agents, muscle relaxants, mechanical ventilation and duration of mechanical ventilation, constraints, early active mobilisation, hypoxemia, frequency and severity of delirium, blood pressure, rescue experience, and infection were significant predictors of post-ICU cognitive impairment. Multivariate analysis results showed that the frequency and severity of delirium, and advanced age were risk factors of post-ICU cognitive impairment; high years of education and early active mobilisation were protective factors.

This study was conducted to address the importance of identifying nursing errors in critical care units and the lack of appropriate tools for measuring them. This study aimed to develop and psychometrically evaluate a nursing error tool in critical care units.

This was a psychometric validity study.

The study involved eight critical care units affiliated with Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences.

The research was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, data were gathered via interviews with nurses, and analyzed with conventional content analysis. The primary codes and subcategories were identified as tool items. In the second phase, the psychometric properties of the instrument, including face validity, content validity, construct validity, internal consistency, and reliability were investigated.

In the first phase, 142 items were extracted; this number was reduced to 40 items after assessing qualitative content validity. Exploratory factor analysis identified five factors medication error, task description error, executive error, procedural error, and safety error, which made up 88% of the total variance.
