None.Today, the availability of methods for the activity-preserving and cost-efficient downstream processing of enzymes forms a major bottleneck to the use of these valuable tools in technical processes. A promising technology appears to be foam fractionation, which utilizes the adsorption of proteins at a gas-liquid interface. However, the employment of surfactants and the dependency of the applicability on individual properties of the target molecules are considerable drawbacks. Here, we demonstrate that a reversible fusion of the large, surface-active protein Ranaspumin-2 (Rsn-2) to a β-lactamase (Bla) enabled both surfactant-free formation of a stable foam and directed enrichment of the enzyme by the foaming. At the same time, Bla maintained 70% of its catalytic activity, which was in stark contrast to the enzyme without fusion to Rsn-2. Rsn-2 predominantly mediated adsorption. Comparable results were obtained after fusion to the structurally more complex penicillin G acylase (PGA) as the target enzyme. The results indicate that using a surface-active protein as a fusion tag might be the clue to the establishment of foam fractionation as a general method for enzyme downstream processing.Enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) is a histone methylated enzyme. It trimethylates histone 3 lysine 27 (H3K27) to regulate epigenetic processes. Recently, studies showed excessive expression of EZH2 in rheumatic diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and systemic sclerosis. Moreover, epigenetic modification of EZH2 regulates differentiation and proliferation of different immune cells. Therefore, in this review, we comprehensively discuss the role of EZH2 in rheumatic diseases. Collection of the evidence may provide a basis for further understanding the role of EZH2 and give potential for targeting these diseases.
Left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) is an alternative to oral anticoagulation (OAC) to decrease the risk of stroke in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF); however, certain complications remain a concern. Amplatzer Amulet and Watchman are the two most popular used devices for preventing stroke in patients with NVAF. We assessed the safety and efficacy of LAAO using the Amplatzer Amulet and Watchman.
A meta-analysis was conducted to compare the safety and efficacy outcomes associated with the use of the Amplatzer Amulet and Watchman 2.5. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale has been utilized to assess the quality of study.
The meta-analysis includes seven studies involving 2926 patients (1418 patients with an amulet and 1508 with a Watchman 2.5). Generally, adverse event rates for both systems were minimal. No significant differences between the two devices were found in safety (pericardial effusion, device embolization, and cardiac tamponade) or efficacy outcomes (death, TIA, stroke, major/minor bleeding, device leak, and thromboembolic events).
The data suggest LAAO is a safe procedure, regardless of which device was used. LAAO devices generally have low complication rates. Outcomes were comparable between the two groups with no significant differences in their safety or efficacy.

There are several cPRA websites based on large enough samples in Eurotransplant, the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), and the Canadian Transplant Registry (CTR). On the other hand, those calculators can differ based on the ethnicity to which they are applied. We developed the Iranian PRA calculator and compared it with UNOS and CTR calculators.
The allele and haplotype frequencies of the Iranian donor pool were estimated using the HLA typing of 523 deceased Iranian kidney donors. The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network formula was used to generate cPRA (cPRA frequency). We also used a computer script to compare the undesirable antigens of patients with the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) phenotype of donors (cPRA filtering). A total of 100 anti-HLA antibody profiles were determined in 100 sensitized individuals on the waiting list, and cPRA was estimated using various PRA calculators.
Variable allelic frequencies were obtained from population heterogeneity in each calculator's donor panel. However, no significant changes in cPRA were identified between the Iranian calculator, UNOS, and the Canadian online calculators. Lin's concordance correlation coefficient of .98 showed that cPRA (freq) and cPRA (filter) values had almost perfect agreement.

Despite its extensive use in restaurants and rotisserie shops all around the world, such equipment has been very poorly studied thus far. The aims of this study were to characterize the operation of a pilot-scale wood-fired pizza oven from its start-up phase to its baking operation and assess its thermal efficiency. To manage brick firing, the oven was lighted at a firewood feed rate (Qfw ) of 3 kg/h for just 1 h on the first day, 2 h on the second day, 4 h on the third day, and approximately 8 h on the fourth day. Independent of its lighting frequency, after 4-6 h, the oven vault or floor temperature approached an equilibrium value of 546 ± 53°C or 453 ± 32°C, respectively. The initial oven floor temperature gradient was linearly related to Qfw , while the maximum floor temperature tended to an asymptotic value of 629 ± 43°C at Qfw = 9 kg/h. The well-known water boiling test was adapted to assess the heat absorbed by a prefixed amount of water when the pizza oven was operating in pseudosteady-state conditions at Qfw = 3 kg/h. Endotoxins pose a serious health risk and can seriously damage the internal organs of humans and animals. 3-Hydroxycarboxylic acids can be used as environmental markers to determine endotoxin levels. At the time of preparation of this manuscript no studies on laser mass spectrometry (MS) and analysis with silver nanoparticles (NP) for 3-hydroxycarboxylic acids have been published in literature.
Six acids, 3-hydroxyoctanoic (3-OH-C80), 3-hydroxydecanoic (3-OH-C100), 3-hydroxydodecanoic (3-OH-C120), 3-hydroxytetradecanoic (3-OH-C140), 3-hydroxyhexadecanoic (3-OH-C160), and 3-hydroxyoctadecanoic (3-OH-C180) acids, were used as test compounds on the target containing silver-109 NPs for quantification using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI)-type mass spectrometer. Methods were also tested on spiked human blood serum samples to quantify 3-hydroxycarboxylic acids and verify the influence of the biological matrix on the measurement.
