Co-located parent coaching was found to be a feasible and worthwhile addition to pediatric primary care.
Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is an important cause of mortality and disability worldwide. The health care community hoped that, with the development of the automated external defibrillator (AED), the mortality and functional outcomes of patients with OHCAs would improve. Despite their effectiveness, their use in OHCA has not yet become common practice. Unfortunately, in 18-59% of cases, public access AEDs were deemed to be in poorly accessible areas or not available all of the time.
We present the existing literature on the implementation of drone delivery of AEDs to improve the response time of the emergency medical services.
Test flights and mathematical/geographic models have been used to assess the effectiveness of drones in delivering AEDs to patients with OHCA. The results of those studies showed promising outcomes given that drone usage led to improved delivery times of AEDs compared with emergency medical services delivery.
While drones have the potential to dramatically improve cardiac arrest patient care, further studies are needed to evaluate their effectiveness in real-life clinical scenarios.

Emergency departments (EDs) worldwide experience substantial variability in hourly patient arrivals. The month of Ramadan represents a repetitive annual occurrence, which could be associated with distinct patient arrival patterns compared with other months of the year.
This study examined hourly patient arrival patterns and patient characteristics in an ED in a tertiary care center in Beirut, Lebanon to determine whether there are significant changes in patient attendance patterns during the month of Ramadan.
Data on patients presenting to the ED during the month of Ramadan with those presenting 1month prior to and 1month after, between 2012 and 2018, were accounted for in the study. Pearson chi-squared test was used in the bivariate analysis, whereas Student's t-test was used to compare continuous variables.
Patient attendance patterns significantly varied between Ramadan and non-Ramadan periods (p<0.0001). learn more Patient flow dropped starting at 800 am, with the greatest drop between 600 pm and 900 pm, and increased in the early morning hours between 200 am and 400 am (p<0.0001). The total number of visits per day significantly decreased in Ramadan compared with non-Ramadan periods (135.6±14.74 vs. 145.5±18.90, p-value < 0.0001), whereas length of stay decreased slightly.
We found a drop in daily ED visits during Ramadan, in addition to a distinct pattern of patient arrivals. ED administrators should consider different scheduling arrangements for nurses and physicians during this period in EDs that serve communities where Ramadan is commonly observed.

Households are increasingly stockpiling and producing hand sanitizer amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which can pose an increased risk for unintentional toxicity among children. Despite guidelines for hand sanitizer production published by the World Health Organization, many turn to streaming media for instruction.
The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate hand sanitizer formulations and safety precautions discussed in popular do-it-yourself (DIY) YouTube videos, and to assess the frequency of calls to poison control centers for pediatric hand sanitizer exposure before and after the arrival of COVID-19 in the United States.
The first 100 videos on YouTube with the most views using the search term "DIY hand sanitizer" were evaluated for accuracy compared with the World Health Organization local hand sanitizer production guidelines. The incidence of pediatric hand sanitizer exposure reported to participating U.S. poison control centers from January 2018 through May 2020 was rs a significantly increased average number of daily calls in March 2020 compared with the previous 2years.
YouTube may not be an accurate source for effective hand sanitizer concoction. Health care providers and parents should be aware of the increased surge in hand sanitizer exposure among children and should take proper precautionary measures.

Kikuchi disease, also known as Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease, is a rare, benign cause of cervical lymphadenitis. It is characterized by painful cervical lymphadenopathy with fevers, leukopenia, and an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate. It is diagnosed by obtaining a biopsy specimen from a lymph node that shows characteristic histopathologic findings.
We highlight a 42-year-old Japanese man who presented with persistent fevers and cervical lymphadenopathy who was misdiagnosed at multiple urgent care facilities and emergency departments. He was eventually diagnosed with Kikuchi disease after a biopsy specimen was obtained from a lymph node 1month after his symptoms began. He was treated with hydroxychloroquine and prednisone with resolution of his symptoms. WHY SHOULD AN EMERGENCY PHYSICIAN BE AWARE OF THIS? Although Kikuchi disease has been previously described in various specialty medical journals, the published literature on Kikuchi disease in emergency medicine is relatively scarce. Given that cervicalcians to be cognizant of Kikuchi disease in the differential diagnosis of cervical lymphadenopathy to prevent misdiagnoses and unnecessary treatments.
Obesity may cause right ventricular (RV) remodeling due to volume overload. However, obesity is also associated with better prognosis compared with normal weight in patients with various cardiac diseases. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of obesity on RV remodeling and long-term prognosis in patients with significant (moderate and severe) tricuspid regurgitation (TR).
A total of 951 patients with significant TR (median age, 70years; interquartile range, 61-77years; 50% men) were divided into three groups according to body mass index (BMI) normal weight (BMI 18.5-24.9kg/m
), overweight (BMI 25-29.9kg/m
), and obese (BMI≥30kg/m
). Patients with congenital heart disease, peripheral edema, active endocarditis, and BMI < 18.5kg/m
were excluded. RV size and function for each group were measured using transthoracic echocardiography and compared with reference values of healthy study populations. The primary end point was all-cause mortality. Event rates were compared across the three BMI categories.
