An efficient protocol for kinetic resolution of tertiary alcohols has been developed through an unprecedented asymmetric enamide-imine tautomerism process enabled by chiral phosphoric acid catalysis. A broad range of racemic 2-arylsulfonamido tertiary allyl alcohols could be kinetically resolved with excellent kinetic resolution performances (with s-factor up to >200). This method is particularly effective for a series of 1,1-dialkyl substituted allyl alcohols, which produced chiral tertiary alcohols that would be difficult to access via other asymmetric methods. Facile and versatile transformations of the chiral α-hydroxy imine and enamide products, especially the efficient stereodivergent synthesis of all four stereoisomers of β-amino tertiary alcohols using one enantiomer of the catalyst, demonstrated the value of this kinetic resolution method.
Alternaria longipes is a causal agent of brown spot of tobacco, which remains a serious threat to tobacco production. Herein, we established a detection method for A. longipes in tobacco samples based on the principle of time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay, in order to fulfil the requirement of rapid, sensitive and accurate detection in situ.
A monoclonal antibody against A. click here longipes was generated, and its purity and titration were assessed using western blot and ELISA. The size of europium (III) nanospheres was measured to confirm successful antibody conjugation. The method described here can detect A. longipes protein lysates as low as 0.78ngml
, with recovery rates ranging from 85.96% to 99.67% in spiked tobacco. The specificity was also confirmed using a panel of microorganisms.
The fluorescent strips allow rapid and sensitive onsite detection of A. longipes in tobacco samples, with high accuracy, specificity, and repeatability.
This novel detection method provides convenience of using crude samples without complex procedures, and therefore allows rapid onsite detection by end users and quick responses towards A. longipes, which is critical for disease control and elimination of phytopathogens.

However, it is not well known whether administration of DAAs had favourable effect on HCC patients with multiple courses of recurrence. We retrospectively extracted 146 HCV-related HCC (C-HCC) patients who received curative treatment using radiofrequency ablation (RFA) followed by eradication treatment with DAA between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2017. We also extracted 184 C-HCC patients who were curatively treated using RFA without HCV eradication treatment between 1 January 2009 and 31 July 2014 as controls. We used propensity score matching method and adjusted following factors between the 2 groups age, sex, liver function, number of recurrence times, tumour diameter and tumour numbers. We finally enrolled 47 C-HCC patients with eradication of HCV, and 47 C-HCC patients withondependent factors contributed to time to curative treatment failure. The cumulative overall survival rates of patients who received DAAs were 93.6% and 72.6% at 1 and 3 years, respectively; those of controls were 72.8% and 37.4% (p less then .01). Multivariate analysis indicated that eradication with DAAs (HR 0.32, 95% CI; 0.17-0.60, p less then .01) and frequency of recurrence times (HR 1.20 per 1 time, 95% CI; 1.01-1.42, p = .038) as independent factors related to overall survival. Eradication of HCV using DAAs prolonged not only time to curative treatment failure but also overall survival even in C-HCC patients with multiple courses of recurrence.
Definitions of dichotomous outcome terms, such as "response," "remission," and "recovery" are central to the design, interpretation, and clinical application of randomized controlled trials of adolescent depression interventions. Accordingly, this scoping review was conducted to document how these terms have been defined and justified in clinical trials.
Bibliographic databases MEDLINE, Embase, APA PsycInfo, and CINAHL were searched from inception to February 2020 for randomized controlled trials evaluating treatments for adolescent depression. Ninety-eight trials were included for data extraction and analysis.
Assessment of outcome measurement instruments, metric strategies, methods of aggregation, and measurement timing, yielded 53 unique outcome definitions of "response" across 45 trials that assessed response, 47 unique definitions of "remission" in 29 trials that assessed remission, and 19 unique definitions of "recovery" across 11 trials that assessed recovery. A minority of trials (N = 35) providroaches to establishing outcome definitions are needed to enhance the impact of trials examining adolescent depression treatment.(+)-Mannolide C is a complex hexacyclic C20 cephalotane-type diterpenoid featuring a highly strained 7/6/6/5 tetracyclic core containing eight consecutive stereocenters and two bridging lactones. The first asymmetric total synthesis of (+)-mannolide C has been accomplished by lipase-mediated resolution, Ru-complex-catalyzed double ring-closing metathesis (RCM) reactions, NiII -catalyzed diastereoselective Michael addition, and MnIII -catalyzed allylic oxidation as the key transformations.HP1 proteins are best known as markers of heterochromatin and gene silencing. Yet, they are also RNA-binding proteins and the HP1γ/CBX3 family member is present on transcribed genes together with RNA polymerase II, where it regulates co-transcriptional processes such as alternative splicing. To gain insight in the role of the RNA-binding activity of HP1γ in transcriptionally active chromatin, we have captured and analysed RNAs associated with this protein. We find that HP1γ is specifically targeted to hexameric RNA motifs and coincidentally transposable elements of the SINE family. As these elements are abundant in introns, while essentially absent from exons, the HP1γ RNA association tethers unspliced pre-mRNA to chromatin via the intronic regions and limits the usage of intronic cryptic splice sites. Thus, our data unveil novel determinants in the relationship between chromatin and co-transcriptional splicing. In this contribution, we install an azobenzene functionality in olefin polymerization catalysts and use light to modulate their properties via photoinduced trans-cis isomerization of the azobenzene moiety. The initially targeted azobenzene-functionalized α-diimine palladium and nickel catalysts are not photoresponsive. To address this issue, an imine-amine system bearing interrupted conjugation with the metal center, and a sandwich-type α-diimine system bearing an azobenzene unit at a position covalently far from the metal center were prepared and studied. We demonstrate that light can be used to tune their properties in ethylene polymerization and copolymerization with polar comonomers, enabling light-induced control of the polymerization processes, polymer microstructures and polymer properties. More interestingly, the light-mediated property changes were attributed to ligand electronic effects in one system and ligand steric effects in the other.
This paper presents a description of the development and psychometric properties of a self-report instrument for the assessment of sexual behaviour and concerns of people with mild intellectual disabilities (SEBECOMID-S).
The study included 281 people with mild intellectual disabilities. The psychometric properties were examined through exploratory factorial analysis, descriptive statistics, and reliability indices.
The exploratory factor analyses offered a structure with three factors concern about the appropriateness of their sexual behaviour, sexual practices performed, and safe sex practices. The model presents an excellent fit (χ
/df=1.10, RMSEA=0.019, CFI=0.997, TLI=0.995, and SRMR=0.065). General test reliability was good (α=0.77, Ω=0.76).
SEBECOMID-S is a valid and reliable tool to obtain objective information about the sexual behaviour and concerns of people with mild intellectual disabilities. The use of this instrument will make it possible to adjust their training to their real experiences, making it more effective.

The extent to which functional coupling between the salience network and the rest of the brain undergoes changes due to development and aging is at present largely unexplored. Here, we examine dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) of the salience network in a large life span sample (n = 601; 6-85 years old). A sliding-window analysis and k-means clustering revealed five states of dFC formed with the salience network, characterized by either widespread asynchrony or different patterns of synchrony between the salience network and other brain regions. We determined the frequency, dwell time, total transitions, and specific state-to-state transitions for each state and subject, regressing the metrics with subjects' age to identify life span trends. A dynamic state characterized by low connectivity between the salience network and the rest of the brain had a strong positive quadratic relationship between age and both frequency and dwell time. Additional frequency, dwell time, total transitions, and state-to-state transition trends were observed with other salience network states. Our results highlight the metastable dynamics of the salience network and its role in the maturation of brain regions critical for cognition.
To determine the impact of an acute, pulse disturbance of nutrients from manure on freshwater sediment microbiomes in an experimental system.
A controlled freshwater mesocosm experiment was designed to compare the effect of disturbance from nutrients derived from sterile manure (SM), disturbance from equivalent concentrations of laboratory-derived nutrients, and a nondisturbed control on freshwater sediment microbial community composition and function using 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing. Sediment microbiomes impacted by nutrients from SM showed no sign of compositional recovery after 28days but those impacted by laboratory-derived chemicals lead to a new steady-state (p<0.05). Carbon and nitrate sources within disturbed mesocosms were the primary drivers of altered microbial community composition. Additionally, multiple potential pathogens (based on exact sequence matching at the species level) were enriched in mesocosms treated with SM.
Nutrient disturbance from SM, in the absence of the manure microbial community, alters the microbiome of sediments without recovery after 28days and enriches potential pathogens.
