The Cots 4 Tots story began in 2010 with a fund-raising appeal for Bristol's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Michael's Hospital. Since its inception the charity has raised tens and thousands of pounds to help families with sick or premature babies in the West of England and South Wales. Its work includes providing family accommodation facilities as well as the latest equipment for the NICU.

Cots for Tots House serves as a "home away from home" for families who are in hospital. It is located next to the NICU and allows parents to stay close to their child. Since 2012, the charity has helped more than 2,100 families remain at home.
