In this work, a zinc-based zeolitic imidazolate framework that incorporates pharmaceutically acceptable precursors is prepared as a nanoreactor (NR) system for the localized synthesis of an antitumor drug. The as-prepared NRs are administered intratumorally in a tumor-bearing mouse model and then irradiated with ultrasound (US) to activate the chemical synthesis. The US promotes the penetration of the administered NRs into the tumor tissue to cover the lesion entirely, although some NRs leak into the surrounding normal tissue. Nevertheless, only the tumor tissue, where the H2O2 concentration is high, is adequately exposed to the as-synthesized antitumor drug, which markedly impedes development of the tumor. No significant chemical synthesis is detected in the surrounding normal tissue, where the local H2O2 concentration is negligible and the US irradiation is not directly applied. The as-proposed tumor-specific in situ synthesis of therapeutic molecules induces hardly any significant in vivo toxicity and, thus, is potentially a potent biocompatible approach to precision chemotherapy.Despite the importance of trust in healthcare settings, there remains a paucity of evidence on the role it plays in patient-provider relationships and healthcare outcomes among people living with hepatitis B virus (HBV). International evidence suggests that Chinese immigrants living with HBV experience inequitable access, outcomes and treatment quality in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) health care. This study explores individual trust in healthcare providers and its impact on health-seeking behaviours and health outcomes among Chinese people living with HBV in Australia. A total of 16 participants were recruited from the Chinese community in Sydney and Melbourne and participated in semi-structured interviews. The data were analysed within a conceptual model of trust that contains five dimensions fidelity, competence, honesty, confidentiality and global trust. The data shows how trust in physicians was formed and influenced by factors including patient-provider interactions, historically relevant experiences, health and illness beliefs and systemic barriers. While the research confirms prior findings on the impact of trust and mistrust, showing an association between low trust and treatment nonadherence, it also generates fresh insights by examining what leads to mistrust and the role of trust in shaping participants' healthcare outcomes. Findings suggest that by treating patients with respect and dignity, improving interpersonal skills and cultural competency, having open discussion on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) treatment and protecting private information, physicians can increase patients' trust. The findings will contribute to efforts to address HBV as a health priority and increase patients' trust in healthcare providers among Chinese immigrants living with HBV.We present the case of an acute DeBakey type I aortic dissection with malperfusion. Nursing checklists have been shown to improve communication, reduce the occurrence of adverse events, and promote safe, quality care in different care settings. However, to date, there is no validated patient care safety checklist for nurses caring for infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU).

To describe development and content validation of the "Safe Nursing Care Checklist for Infants Hospitalized in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit".

Based upon an integrative literature review, we developed a checklist focused on safe nursing care for infants in the NICU. Nursing experts participated in three rounds of a content validation process where they rated the items online. An agreement level ≥0.90 was required for inclusion in the checklist. Forty- three expert nurses with experience working in the NICU and who were certified in neonatal nursing or had a master's or doctoratal degree in child health provided content validation of the patient care checklist.

The final checklist contad decision-making. Validation in the clinical setting is needed.
Traumatic eye injury is one of the leading causes of visual impairment in the United States, but there is limited information available in the literature about ocular trauma related to sports.

To evaluate the primary ocular diagnosis, type of sport, seasonal prevalence, and injury severity following ocular sports-related trauma.

Patients with sports-related ocular injuries in the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System All Injury Program (NEISS-AIP) database from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2019.

To identify and compare the type of sport, primary diagnosis of ocular injury, and injury severity.

For 4,671 sports-related ocular injuries identified, the mean age of injury was 19.4±15.2years (median 15.0years, 79% male). The largest proportion of injuries occurred in the 12-17years of age cohort (38.6%), occurring during summer months (

For combining these two types of studies in the same analysis, a simple conversion method has been widely used to handle standardized mean differences (SMDs) and odds ratios (ORs). This conventional method uses a linear function connecting the SMD and log OR; it assumes logistic distributions for (latent) continuous measures. However, the normality assumption is more commonly used for continuous measures, and the conventional method may be inaccurate when effect sizes are large or cutoff values for dichotomizing binary events are extreme (leading to rare events). This article proposes a Bayesian hierarchical model to synthesize SMDs and ORs without using the conventional conversion method. This model assumes exact likelihoods for continuous and binary outcome measures, which account for full uncertainties in the synthesized results. We performed simulation studies to compare the performance of the conventional and Bayesian methods in various settings. The Bayesian method generally produced less biased results with smaller mean squared errors and higher coverage probabilities than the conventional method in most cases. Nevertheless, this superior performance depended on the normality assumption for continuous measures; the Bayesian method could lead to nonignorable biases for non-normal data. In addition, we used two case studies to illustrate the proposed Bayesian method in real-world settings.Objectives To assess style and themes of feedback provided by artificial intelligence (AI) mobile application and physical therapist (PT) to participants during bodyweight squat exercise. Methods Research population was age 20-35, without any pre-existing condition that precluded participation in bodyweight exercise. Qualitative methodology followed directed content analysis. Cohen's kappa coefficient verified consistency between coders. Results Both AI and PT groups had seven female and eight male participants. Three themes emerged affirmation schema, correction paradigms and physical assessments. Average kappa coefficient calculated for all codes was 0.96, a value that indicates almost perfect agreement. Conclusion Themes generated highlight the AI focus on congruent, descriptive and prescriptive feedback, while the PT demonstrated multipoint improvement capabilities. Further research should establish feedback comparisons with multiple PTs and correlate qualitative data with additional quantitative data on performance outcomes based on feedback.Lysobacter capsici VKM B-2533T and Lysobacter gummosus 10.1.1 are promising strains for use in biomedicine as sources of new antimicrobial agents. TTP activity is regulated through multiple phosphorylation sites, including an evolutionary conserved serine in its CNOT1 Interacting Motif (CIM) whose phosphorylation disrupts an interaction with CNOT1 of the CCR4-NOT deadenylase complex. Here we present evidence that the TTP CIM recruits the CCR4-NOT deadenylase complex and activates mRNA degradation cooperatively with the conserved tryptophan residues of TTP, previously identified to interact with CNOT9. Surprisingly, the TTP CIM remains unphosphorylated and capable of promoting association with the CCR4-NOT complex and mRNA decay upon activation of p38-MAPK-activated kinase MK2, a well-established regulator of TTP activity. The CIM is instead targeted by other kinases including PKCα. These observations suggest that signaling pathways regulate TTP activity in a cooperative manner and that the p38 MAPK-MK2 kinase pathway relies on the activation of additional kinase pathway(s) to fully control TTP function.
