Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is a zoonotic disease caused by hantavirus infection. Patients with severe HFRS may develop multiple organ failure or even death, which makes HFRS a serious public health problem.
In this retrospective study, we included a total of 155 consecutive patients who were diagnosed with HFRS, of whom 109 patients served as a training cohort and 46 patients as an independent verification cohort. In the training set, the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression was used to screen the characteristic variables of the risk model. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to construct a nomogram containing the characteristic variables selected in the LASSO regression model.
The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of the nomogram indicated that the model had good discrimination. The calibration curve exhibited that the nomogram was in good agreement between the prediction and the actual observation. Decision curve analysis and clinical impact curve suggested that the predictive nomogram had clinical utility.
In this study, we established a simple and feasible model to predict severity in patients with HFRS, with which HFRS would be better identified and patients can be treated early.

This research mainly focused on the functions and mechanism of MALAT1 in RB. MALAT1 was upregulated in RB tissues and cells, and it served as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) and inhibited miRNA-655-3p (miR-655-3p) expression, which eventually regulated the expression of miR-655-3p downstream target ATPase Family AAA Domain Containing 2 (ATAD2). The level of ATAD2 significantly increased, while that of miR-655-3p remarkably decreased in RB tissues and cells. MALAT1 depletion inhibited cell proliferation, metastasis, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), but promoted apoptosis in vitro and blocked xenograft tumor growth in vivo. MALAT1 exerted its oncogenic functions in RB by regulating miR-655-3p/ATAD2 axis.
Cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury (CIRI) affects bodily function by causing irreversible damage to brain cells. The diverse pathophysiological course factors hinder the research work to go deeper. Long noncoding RNA taurine-upregulated gene 1 (TUG1) has been reported to be related to CIRI. This study explored the undefined regulatory pathway of TUG1 in CIRI.
Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was applied to test the expression of TUG1, microRNA (miR)-493-3p and miR-410-3p. The viability and apoptosis of oxygen and glucose deprivation/reoxygen (OGD/R) model cells were evaluated by cell counting kit-8 and flow cytometry assay, respectively. selleck The determination of inflammatory factors of interleukin-6, interleukin-1β and tumor necrosis factor-α was presented by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The oxidative stress was performed by measuring the generation of malondialdehyde, reactive oxygen species and the activity of superoxidedismutase. Cytotoxicity was presented by measuring the genera the TUG1 activated JNK and p38 MAPK pathways by sponging miR-493-3p/miR-410-3p.
TUG1 motivated the development of CIRI by sponging miR-493-3p/miR-410-3p to activate JNK and p38 pathways. The novel role of TUG1 in CIRI may contribute to the advancement of CIRI treatment.

This study was designed to compare the diagnostic efficacy of ultrasonography (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in detecting changes in the knee of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and discover the possible association between the serological index and bone erosion detected by US.
In this retrospective study, the US images and MRI findings of the knee in patients with RA from December 2017 to January 2020 were evaluated. Diagnostic outcomes were compared. The rheumatoid factor, C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody (ACPA) levels of the patients were recorded. The relation between laboratory index and US findings was analyzed by multivariable logistic regression.
US showed remarkable accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity in diagnosing synovitis, bone erosion, and soft tissue swelling. In terms of reliability, the agreement between US and MRI was moderate to almost perfect. link2 Meanwhile, a positive association between ACPA level and bone erosion was observed in patients with RA.
US may have a role as the initial imaging modality in patients with RA. Patients with higher ACPA levels may need more active treatment because they are more likely to have bone erosion detected by US.

Human adipose-derived MSCs (hASCs) have recently been widely studied due to their easy access and low immunity. Thus, we intended to figure out the effects and potential mechanism of hASCs on obesity in high-fat-diet (HFD)-induced obese mice. Following 16 weeks of being fed HFD, hASCs were intravenously injected. Two weeks later, body weight, body composition, and energy expenditure were evaluated. Additionally, the phenotypes of macrophages infiltrating adipose tissue were analyzed. The results revealed that hASCs administration significantly reduced adipose tissue weight, adipocyte size, and fat mass and exerted beneficial effects in serum lipid profile. This anti-obesity effect was mediated by the increased O2 consumption, CO2 production, and energy expenditure, which was further evidenced by the upregulation of uncoupling protein-1 (UCP-1) and metabolism-associated genes. Furthermore, hASCs infusion increased the amount of alternatively activated (M2) macrophages in adipose tissue, and the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines-related genes was reduced. Taken together, these results indicated that hASCs suppressed obesity by increasing UCP-1 expression and enhancing energy expenditure, and this effect might be due to the increased M2 macrophages. The main purpose of this research was the identification and characterization of low-molecular-weight glutenin subunit (LMW-GS) composition in common wheat and the determination of the effect of these proteins on the rheological properties of dough. The use of capillary zone electrophoresis and reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography has made it possible to identify four alleles in the Glu-A3 and Glu-D3 loci and seven alleles in the Glu-B3 locus, encoding LMW-GSs in 70 varieties and breeding lines of wheat tested. To determine the technological quality of dough, analyses were performed at the microscale using a TA.XT Plus Texture Analyzer. Wheat varieties containing the Glu-3 loci scheme (Glu-A3b, Glu-A3f at the Glu-A3 locus; Glu-B3a, Glu-B3b, Glu-B3d, Glu-B3h at the Glu-B3 locus; Glu-D3a, Glu-D3c at the Glu-D3 locus) determined the most beneficial quality parameters.Since its emergence in late 2019, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been spreading remarkably fast worldwide. Effective countermeasures require the rapid development of data and tools to monitor its spread and better understand immunogenic profile. link3 However, limited information is available about the tools and target of the immune responses to SARS-CoV-2. In this study, we excogitated a new approach for analyzing phylogenetic relationships by using the whole prototype proteome sequences. Phylogenetic analysis on the whole prototype proteome sequences showed that SARS-CoV-2 was a direct descendant of Bat-CoV and was closely related to Pangolin-CoV, Bat-SL-CoV, and SARS-CoV. The pairwise comparison of SARS-CoV-2 with Bat-CoV showed an unusual replacement of the motif consisting of seven amino acids (NNLDSKV) within the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. The replaced motif in the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 was found in 12 other species, including a conserved surface protein of a malaria-causing pathogen, Plasmodium malariae. We further identified the T and B cell epitope sequence homology of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein with conserved surface protein of P. malariae using the Immune Epitope Database and Analysis Resource (IEDB). The shared immunodominant epitopes may provide immunity against SARS-CoV-2 infection to those previously infected with P. malariae.Despite its wide distribution in the Indo-Pacific region and its popularity as an aquarium species, genetic studies on Lysmata debelius remain very limited. In this study, we obtained and characterized the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of L. debelius. Results showed that the mitogenome was 16,757 bp in length and consisted of 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes, and two ribosomal RNA genes. Fourteen genes were light-strand encoded and 23 genes were heavy-strand encoded. The A + T content of the heavy strand was 67.16%. All PCGs had ATN as the start codon. Eight PCGs terminated with a complete stop codon of TAN, and five PCGs (ND3, ND5, ND4, Cox2, and Cytb) had an incomplete stop codon. The phylogeny of 42 shrimp species showed that all three Lysmata species were clustered together. The newly described mitogenome should provide valuable data for phylogenetic analysis of Hippolytidae. The deep-sea limpet Bathyacmaea lactea, inhibited in cold seeps of the South China Sea, belongs to the most primitive gastropod groups, the Patellogastropoda (true limpets). Here, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of B. lactea, which is 18,446 bp in length and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNAs, and 22 tRNA genes. The mitochondrial genome of B. lactea enriches the molecular resources for further understanding deep-sea molluskan adaptation and Gastropoda evolution. The chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of Bruguiera gymnorrhiza was characterized. The cp genome length was 163,795 bp in length, with a GC content of 35.3%, containing a large single copy (LSC) of 90,830 bp, a small single copy (SSC) of 20,207 bp, and a pair of inverted repeats (IRs) of 26,379 bp. The genome contained 121 genes, including 84 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. A phylogenetic analysis using cp genomes of mangroves and ecologically associated species resolved B. gymnorrhiza in Bruguiera with B. sexangula var. rhynchopetala. This complete chloroplast sequence offers a promising tool for further species identification and evolutionary studies of Bruguiera, as well as for mangroves.
