A total of sixteen samples were taken, and the positive test rate for SRAS-CoV-2 was 12.5 % (2/16). All samples from surrounding (rest room and hallway) were negative, but two air samples from indoor of ICU (next to the patient bed and nursing station) were found to be positive. The results support the possibility of transmitting the SRAS-CoV-2 through the air at a greater distance than what is known as a safe physical distance. Therefore, in addition to maintaining a safe physical distance, other precautions including wearing a face mask, preventing air recirculation, and maximizing the use of natural ventilation should be considered, especially in crowded and enclosed environments.α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles were synthesized via a straightforward method. XRD, FTIR, SEM, ESR, and DRS techniques investigated the influence of various calcination temperatures on the crystal structure, optical, and photocatalytic properties of the samples. The obtained results demonstrated that the average crystallite size increased with the increase in the calcination temperature. Measured and computed optical properties were in accordance and the bandgap energy decreased with the increase in the calcination temperature. The highest photocatalytic degradation efficiency for diclofenac (DCF) was obtained with the sample calcinated at 300 °C (96%). The photocatalytic process occurs because of the presence of OH• radicals. The addition of H2O2 led to the inhibition of OH• radicals that H2O2 scavenged. The European Union (EU) Emissions Trading System is the most important means for the EU to achieve carbon neutrality, but it has been severely affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 in Europe, and carbon price have fluctuated sharply. Research on the driving factors of carbon price during this period will help maintain the stability of the carbon emissions trading market and promote the realization of carbon neutrality. This study selected the EU carbon allowance futures price as the research object and applied the Bai-Perron structural break test to analyze the factors that influences carbon price fluctuations using the Johansen cointegration technique and the Newey-West regression estimation. Studies have shown that the outbreak of COVID-19 and the "€750 billion green recovery plan" both had a significant impact on EU carbon price. Carbon price has also undergone significant structural changes. Under the influence of these two factors, the relationship between the level of economic development and carbon price displayed a short-term negative correlation. At the same time, oil price and interbank dismantling rates were also important factors affecting carbon price, while the impact of the clean development mechanism on carbon price was not significant. The study confirmed the effectiveness of the EU's "green recovery plan" in stabilizing the carbon market during the COVID-19 pandemic and will provide a reference for the formulation of economic recovery policies of countries around the world.Transboundary pollution control usually requires the cooperation of neighboring countries due to the externality of pollution. However, countries at different levels of development, which are called asymmetric countries in this paper, may have different attitudes toward this cooperation. The developing countries would like to take a free ride and they can benefit from the cooperation with developed countries, but the developed countries may not be willing to afford this cooperation cost. This paper discusses the cooperation between two asymmetric countries that developed country may provide assistant investments to help the developing country reduce pollution stock. We consider a dynamic differential game to model the transboundary pollution control between two asymmetric regions and derive the optimal equilibrium of both regions using the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation. To explore the impact of assistant investments, numerical illustrations and sensitivity analysis are implemented to compare the equilibrium strategies under two scenarios that with or without assistant investments. We conclude that the common pollution stock will be reduced when the developed country is willing to provide assistant investments to the developing country. Besides, the equilibrium emission strategies of both countries increase with assistant investments, which means more economic benefits for both sides.Sulfide-modified nanoscale zero-valent iron (S-nZVI) has been considered an efficient material to remove heavy metals and organic contaminants. The experiments of bisphenol S (BPS) degradation by persulfate (PS) activated with S-nZVI (S-nZVI/PS) or nZVI (nZVI/PS) were carried out in this paper. The results show that, compared to the bare nZVI/PS system, the S-nZVI/PS system shows higher activity in BPS degradation, especially at high BPS concentration. The reaction rate constant kobs of BPS removal by the S-nZVI/PS system (0.142 min-1) was much higher than that in nZVI/PS system (0.089 min-1) because more oxidation species were generated in the S-nZVI/PS system. The results of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and radical quenching tests show that both hydroxyl radical (·OH) and sulfate radical (SO4·-) were involved in the degradation of BPS and had a great contribution to BPS removal. Moreover, the effects of S/Fe molar ratio, S-nZVI dosage, initial pH, and initial concentration of PS or BPS on S-nZVI/PS were also studied. The results show that the S/Fe molar ratio has significant influence on the BPS degradation; over 97.7% of the removal efficiency was achieved at 0.035 of S/Fe molar ratio. And the removal efficiency of BPS degradation increased with the increase of the dosage of S-nZVI, PS concentration. Furthermore, BPS could be efficiently removed in solutions with a wide range of initial pH (3.13-9.35). The observed results show that it is promising in the removal of micro-pollutants from water by persulfate activated with S-nZVI.Biogeochemical release of soil-bound arsenic (As) governs mobilization of the toxic metalloid into the groundwater. The present study has examined AsV-reduction ability of bacteria from anoxic aquatic sediments that might contribute to arsenic mobilization in the Bengal Delta. Arsenic-reducing bacteria from deep layers of pond sediment were enriched and isolated in anaerobic environments and AsV reduction was assessed in culture medium. The pond sediment enrichments harboured AsV-reducing bacteria belonging to the phyla Firmicutes and Proteobacteria with dominance of Paraclostridium benzoelyticum and P. bifermentans. Among total 17 isolates, the respiratory reductase genes were not detected by the most common primers and only 3 strains had arsenic reductase ArsC gene suggesting involvement of resistance and some unknown mechanisms in AsV reduction. Presence of high levels of organic matter, As, and As-reducing bacteria might make deep aquatic sediments a hot spot of As mobilization and aquifer contamination.Coliform mastitis is a worldwide serious disease of the mammary gland. Curcumin is a pleiotropic polyphenol obtained from turmeric, but it is hydrophobic and rapidly eliminated from the body. However, nanoformulation of curcumin significantly improves its pharmacological activity by enhancing its hydrophobicity and oral bioavailability. Our study aimed to investigate the possible antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of nanocurcumin as a prophylactic against LPS-induced coliform mastitis in rat model, where LPS was extracted from a field strain of Escherichia coli (bovine mastitis isolate). The study was conducted on twenty lactating Wistar female rats divided into four equal groups, and the mastitis model was initiated by injection of LPS through the duct of the mammary gland. The results showed that nanocurcumin significantly attenuated the lipid peroxidation (MDA), oxidized glutathione, the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IL-1β), and the gene expression of TLR4, NF-κB p65, and HMGB1. Meanwhile, it improved the reduced glutathione level and Nrf2 activity and preserved the normal alveolar architecture. These findings suggested that nanocurcumin supplementation can be a promising potential protective approach for coliform mastitis. The exposure of humic substances to solar radiation can alter their concentration and composition and subsequently influences their bioavailability in aquatic food webs. With eutrophication increasingly prominent in lakes, nutrients, such as inorganic N and P, are a prerequisite for heterotrophic bacteria that use organic matter. Here photodegradation of terrestrial humic acids and nutrient addition were performed to investigate the response of bacterial abundance and community structure to photodegraded humic acids and increased nutrient concentrations in a eutrophic lake. Results showed that the decreasing level of absorption coefficient at 460 nm in the treatment irradiated with 40 W UV lamps was more remarkable than that of the treatment irradiated with 20 W UV lamps and the control. This reduced coefficient corresponds to the greatest decrease in humic acid concentration in the 40 W group. read more Bacteria showed high abundance after incubation with humic acids which underwent strong irradiation intensity. An increased nutrient concentration significantly affected bacterial abundance. The dominant bacteria were Aquabacterium for the irradiated group, Aquabacterium and Limnobacter for the 20 W group and Flavobacterium and Limnobacter for the 40 W group. Armatimonadetes-gp4 and Sediminibacterium showed evident response to high nutrient concentration. Our results showed that the exposure of terrestrial humic acids to UV light and the increasing concentration of nutrients have obviously changed bacterial community. While climate change is having serious impacts on agriculture and may require ongoing adaptation, short-run threats to global food security are also crucial for developing countries. We use dynamic and asymmetric panel autoregressive distributed lag estimators to investigate how the effects of climate change on agricultural productivity vary depending upon the short run and long run in Asia over the period of 1980-2016. The results confirmed that there is a long-run relationship between agricultural productivity and climate change variables; however, only CO2 emissions could be linked to agricultural productivity in the short run. Moreover, while the direction of this effect is positive for the short run, it turns into negative in the long run confirming that carbon fertilization in the atmosphere can to some extent have a positive effect on agricultural productivity.Uniformly dispersed Pd nanoparticles on certain supports exhibit exceptional catalytic performance toward various environmental applications. In this work, ultrafine Pd nanoparticles anchored on CeO2 nanorods were synthesized via an absorption-in situ reduction method. The activity of the CeO2/Pd nanocomposites was systematically investigated toward reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) and organic dyes including methyl blue, rhodamine B, methyl orange, and Congo red. The results indicated that the CeO2/Pd nanocomposites with different weight ratios of Pd nanoparticles (10.23 wt%, 11.01 wt%, and 14.27 wt%) can almost completely reduce 4-NP with a rate constant of 3.31×10-1, 3.22×10-1, and 2.23×10-1 min-1. Besides, the 10.23 wt% CeO2/Pd nanocomposites exhibit remarkable enhanced catalytic activity toward reduction of organic dyes. The catalysts display ideal stability after being used for three times for the reduction of 4-NP. We believe that our strategy demonstrated here offers insights into the design and fabrication of novel Pd-based nanocomposites for various heterogeneous catalysis applications.
