Choosing a Double Umbrella Stroller
When shopping for a double umbrella stroller it is important to consider your family's needs and preferences. This will simplify your choices and allow you to concentrate on the aspects that matter most.
The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is an excellent, upscale double umbrella stroller that's manufactured well and folds up compactly. It has large canopies as well as a huge storage bin and is very simple to move.
Lightweight
The top double umbrella strollers are compact and lightweight, yet provide plenty of. They're not as heavy as a typical jogger or stroller and tend to be smaller when folded. They lack the bells and whistles that are found on full-size strollers, but they often provide large canopies with ample storage space, and reclined seats.
A compact double umbrella stroller is a popular choice for families who travel together. double pram buggy to fold and can be tucked away in most carry-on bags or trunks for planes. It's an excellent option for narrow entrances and crowded streets. It's also less expensive than a "travel stroller" with more features that can be used on a daily basis.
Some of the top double strollers, such as the UPPAbaby G-Link 2 have features you won't find on cheaper models. The double umbrella stroller comes with hanging storage pockets, tray for snacks and toys in each seat and two cup holders for parents. The streamlined design makes this double umbrella stroller among the most compact on the market. It also has an extra wide canopy to protect both seats.
Some other options that are light like the Joovy Kooper X2, have more of the bells and whistles that you would expect from a double umbrella stroller, including a more comfortable ride for both children because of the padded seating and a more comfortable recline in each seat. It's important to note, though, that the more features you pick the more the stroller will weigh. Additionally, due to the way that strollers can be closed and opened, you'll want to be cautious not to let little fingers touch frames or hinges, especially if your child is sitting in a seat.
Compact
When folded, the small double umbrella strollers are easy to maneuver and can fit into tight spaces. These strollers are a great choice for parents who will frequent the streets, shopping malls, or to get around tourist destinations like the zoo or aquarium. These compact, lightweight strollers are great for commuting, or as a backup to a heavier stroller with more features when traveling.
There are two kinds of umbrellas that are lightweight with very little features and those that offer many options for comfort and convenience in addition to their compact size. Some of the best examples include large pop-out umbrellas with SPF 50, windows that peek out and padded seats. They also come with 5-point safety harnesses that are on both sides, as well as adjustable leg rests, and reclining seats. Other crucial aspects to take into consideration are whether or not you want a tray for your child or car seat attachment and the amount of storage space each seat comes with.
The Delta Children LX Double Umbrella is a great example of the bare-bones, no-frills option that is incredibly light and incredibly affordable. The stroller weighs only 18 pounds and comes with a handy carrying strap to carry it around. It fits easily into the trunk of your car or in a front hall closet when it is not in use. The front wheels feature precision technology and swivel, ensuring a smooth ride and easier steering. Another highly recommended option is the brand new Kinderwagon Hop, a super narrow tandem umbrella stroller that's also light and easy to maneuver through doors. The model was out of production for a few decades but is returning and worth looking into. It also comes with a bigger three-panel canopy for improved sun protection over the smaller, basic models in this review.
Easy to Fold
The simplest umbrella strollers fold like an umbrella and weigh less than other kinds of strollers. They are easy to lift, carry and store when you don't want or need to bring your larger stroller due to a reason (traveling on an airplane, traveling in an unfamiliar city, or visiting grandma). They usually have fewer features than a full-featured stroller, but they should have the basic features you require like storage and a sun canopy.
The latest version of the UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is lighter and narrower than its predecessor, with an improved front wheel that increases mobility and pushability. It's a great option for a stroller to travel with that can hold two children. It's also Disney approved!
A double tri-fold stroller, like the Joovy Kooper X2, offers all the convenience of a stroller that has an umbrella design, but in a body that's comparable in size to a full-size stroller. This class of stroller is rapidly replacing the standard double umbrella model, and it might be the best choice if you need a versatile lightweight stroller for travel.
The majority of double umbrella strollers we recommend are side by side models. The exception is the Kinderwagon Hop, a tandem umbrella stroller that's extremely lightweight and easy to fold (though it's also quite narrow). If you're looking for a cheap simple, basic, no-frills double umbrella stroller that you can throw in your back pack or trunk for short trips, we recommend this one. It even comes with two hanging storage bags on the backs of each seat as well as cup holders for the parents. It's so basic that it's unlikely to help your children get through an airport without causing them to be cranky, but it can make the journey more enjoyable.
Comfortable Seats
The majority of umbrella strollers don't come with a variety of bells and whistles, because they're designed with one purpose: to get two children from A to B. That's why they generally have seats that are comfortable and spacious but do not have recline options or wheels that are all-terrain.
The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is the one exception. It's an incredibly lightweight and compact double umbrella stroller with two seats that weigh just 18 lbs each, making it an ideal choice for travelers (it meets Disney size requirements). It has a large canopy with three panels to protect children from sun. Both seats come with a good amount of storage however, not as much as some of our top picks. It also has the crucial 5-point safety harnesses that are in both seats, as well as peek-a-boo windows in their canopies.
The only downside to the G-Link is that it lacks the belly bar and snack tray that we love to see in our top picks, but they aren't the most important features to have on an umbrella stroller, anyway. And, like any umbrella stroller, it needs to be handled with care so fingers, whether your own or children's get trapped in the hinges that fold up the frame and mechanisms.
The seats in double umbrella strollers are typically side by side however there are some models that are inline (one seat behind the other). Inline models are more easy to navigate through doorways than side by side models however their seating arrangements can cause your children to fight over the best seat. This issue was pretty equally split among our previous test subjects and it is the individual preference.
Safety
The safety of your children must be the top consideration when selecting a stroller and the design of a double umbrella stroller can determine the quality of its operation. Although it's difficult to find a lightweight double stroller that provides the same level of safety as larger strollers, some models do come close. These strollers usually have 5-point harnesses, feet and calf rests for kids, as well being able to extend UPF 50and sunvisor. They tend to be smaller and lighter compared to other double umbrella strollers. This makes them easier to maneuver through tight spaces like airports or on city streets.
Some models, such as the Kinderwagon Hop, are side-by-sides and are particularly easy to push through small spaces. This stroller is a great option for parents who are traveling with young children and need a quick and convenient method of getting around. It's also compact enough to easily fit into a trunk or storage space.
The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is another model that is worth a look. It is among the most light double strollers that we have tested. It is surprisingly sturdy design for an umbrella style product. It also features a large, easily accessible storage basket with reclining seats, as well as the window that peeks out. The seat is also able to hold 35 lbs and meets Disney stroller dimensions.
Other models, like the Jeep PowerGlide Double Stroller, may be more basic in design and not have as many features. However they are extremely light and can be utilized as a backup for occasional travel purposes. They are also much cheaper than renting a stroller for an entire trip or vacation. They are also easy to carry, lift and fold.
