Here, we employed human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)-derived neural stem cells (hiPSC-NSCs), neurons (hiPSC-Neurons), and microglia-like cells (hiPSC-MGLs) from sporadic AD (sAD) patients, age-matched cognitive normal controls (CNCs), and young subjects to observe human neural cell-type response to H2O2 stimulation. Without H2O2 exposure, reactive oxygen species (ROS) cannot be detected in hiPSC-NSCs from all three groups, but the viability of hiPSC-NSCs from AD patients was significantly lower than those of CNCs and young subjects. There were no significant differences in ROS, viabilities, neurite length, and neurite branch points in hiPSC-Neurons among three groups. No significant differences in viabilities, phagocytosis, and secretion of cytokines were observed in hiPSC-MGLs among three groups, but higher ROS levels in sAD hiPSC-MGLs. Under H2O2 exposure, the viability, neurite length, and neurite branch points of hiPSC-Neurons from AD patients reduced more significantly accompanied by more ROS release. H2O2 exposure caused hiPSC-MGLs from AD patients to release more ROS, cytokines, and stronger phagocytosis. Nevertheless, H2O2 exposure had no effect on viability of hiPSC-NSCs. Our results showed hiPSC-Neurons and hiPSC-MGLs were more sensitive to H2O2 than hiPSC-NSCs, which indicated the different response styles of hiPSC-NSCs, hiPSC-Neurons, and hiPSC-MGLs to oxidative stress. HiPSC-derived neural cells from AD patients suffered more severe injury from H2O2 than those of CNCs and young subjects, indicating that the vulnerability to oxidative stress of AD patients can be recapitulated in hiPSCs.In this study, biocompatible titanium-niobium (Ti-Nb) alloys were fabricated by using powder metallurgy methods. Physical, morphological, thermal, and mechanical analyses were performed and their in vivo compatibility was evaluated. This study shows that Ti-Nb alloys can be potentially used for orthopedic applications without any toxic effects.This study examined the release characteristics of malodorous ammonia (NH3) and hydrogen sulphide (H2S) gases in different areas of a full-capacity operational landfill in Hangzhou, China. Gas samples were collected using static boxes from exposed working areas (EWAs), temporarily covered areas (TCAs), and final closure areas (FCAs), and were analysed using spectrophotometric methods. Gas release increased in the following order TCA > EWA > FCA. The average concentrations of released NH3 in these areas were 2763, 1171, and 27 mg m-3, respectively, and those of H2S were 2481, 631, and 10 mg m-3, respectively. The concentrations of gases released from holes in the film in the temporarily covered and EWAs were significantly higher than the AEGL-3 level values specified by the Acute Exposure Guideline Levels (AEGL) Advisory Committee. EWAs were identified as key for odour control, where the highest NH3 release was recorded at approximately 1200. The diurnal variation in H2S release was insignificant (p > 0.05). Therefore, the study shows that working in EWAs should be avoided at approximately noon. Adverse impacts on human health can be reduced by standardising procedures, using higher-quality films, and improving film installation procedures. The results of this study serve as a valuable reference for odour control in operational landfills.This study aims to improve understanding of how distracting information and target task demands influence the strength of gaze and non-biological (arrow and moving line) cuing effects. Using known non-predictive central cues, we manipulated the degree of distraction from additional information presented on the other side of the target, and target task difficulty. In Experiment 1, we used the traditional unilateral cuing task, where participants state the location of an asterisk and the non-target location is empty (no distraction). Experiment 2 comprised a harder localisation task (which side contains an embedded oddball item) and presented distracting target-related information on the other side. In Experiment 3, we used a discrimination task (upright or inverted embedded T) with distracter information that was unrelated or related to the target (low vs. high distraction, respectively). We found that the magnitude of cuing scaled with the degree of combined distraction and task demands, increasing up to six-fold from Experiments 1 and 2 to the high-distraction condition in Experiment 3. Thus, depleting attentional resources in this manner appears to weaken the ability to ignore uninformative directional cues. This article describes the immediate challenges and opportunities that can launch nationwide reform in systems of care for individuals in psychiatric crisis. Five action recommendations describe clear, feasible next steps that can be taken to move these systems forward and meaningfully improve access and quality of care for people in crisis. To address this growing problem, the authors developed a mobile outreach program, called Access to Psychiatry through Intermediate Care (APIC), for young (≤26 years) patients with ASD at risk for involvement with emergency medical services or the legal system. In its initial year, the average program duration per patient was 264.5 days. Clinical and Family Distress Scale scores indicated significant improvements for participating patients and caretakers. In the first year, among 40 patients with sufficient data for comparison, 13 (33%) went to the ED, and lengths of stay decreased up to 77% from pre- to postintervention. Given a cost per APIC-enrolled patient of $1,700, the net saving for the cost of ED treatment was $2,260-$2,559 per patient. The authors found that clarification of the interpreter's role and the session structure improved provider-interpreter collaboration, with two perceived benefits improved assessment through elicitation of clinically relevant information and stronger therapeutic alliance through "emotion work." Strategies for effectively enhancing provider-interpreter collaboration are discussed.
Homelessness is associated with increased risk of suicide attempts. This study examined whether suicide attempts typically precede or occur during episodes of homelessness in a representative national sample.

Data from 36,127 adults in the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions-III were used to identify 1,992 respondents who reported a lifetime suicide attempt. Bivariate analyses compared attempt histories between adults who reported past-year homelessness, homelessness prior to the past year, and no history of homelessness. Measures included years since most recent attempt and first attempt and proportion attempting suicide in the past year. Multivariable analyses adjusted for potentially confounding effects of age and identified independent factors associated with past-year attempts along with past-year homelessness.

Among respondents who experienced homelessness in the past year, 21.0% reported a past-year suicide attempt, compared with 5.8% among those experiencing homelessn behavior began decades ago and likely preceded homelessness.
