Recently, the release of some metal ions to the environment has been observed to cause serious damages to human health and the environment. Herein, a chromium(VI)- and zinc(II)-selective adsorbent (CB18crown6/SBA-15) was successfully fabricated through the covalent attachment of 4'-carboxybenzo-18-crown-6 (CB18crown6) as a ligand on mesoporous silica support (SBA-15). The CB18crown6/SBA-15 adsorbent was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometry, X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption-desorption, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). To evaluate its ability to selectively capture Cr(VI) and Zn(II), adsorption experiments were conducted. The influences of pH, initial concentration of metal ions, and coexisting metal ions on the adsorption process were examined. The CB18crown6/SBA-15 selectively adsorbed Cr(VI) at pH 2 and Zn(II) at pH 5, respectively, from the mixed aqueous solutions of chromium, zinc, lithium, cadmium, cobalt, strontium, and cesium ions. The data for the adsorption of Cr(VI) onto the CB18crown6/SBA-15 were well explained by the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. In addition, the recycling and reuse of CB18crown6/SBA-15 was successfully achieved, and 71 and 76% reuse efficiency of Cr(VI) and Zn(II), respectively, was obtained after five cycles. This study suggests that the use of the CB18crown6/SBA-15 can be a feasible approach for the selective remediation of Cr(VI) and Zn(II) contamination.Plane strain compression tests were used to study the deformation behavior of an Inconel 625 alloy sheet at various temperatures and strain rates. The peak stress was selected to establish the constitutive equation, and the processing maps under different strains were drawn. The results show that the effective stress-strain curve of Inconel 625 has typical dynamic recrystallization (DRX) characteristics. With the increasing deformation temperature and the decreasing strain rate, the softening effect is significantly enhanced. The parameters of the constitutive equation are calculated, and the average error of the constitutive equation is 5.68%. Through the analysis of the processing map, a deformation temperature of 950-960 °C with a strain rate of 0.007-0.05 s-1 were determined as the unstable region, and obvious local plastic-rheological zones were found in the unstable region. The optimum deformation condition was found to be 1020-1060 °C/0.005-0.03 s-1. Through electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) characterization, it was found that both the increase of temperature and the decrease of strain rate significantly promote the recrystallization process. At a low strain rate, the main recrystallization mechanism is discontinuous dynamic recrystallization (DDRX). It is expected that the above results can provide references for the optimization of the rolling process and microstructure control of an Inconel 625 alloy sheet. The purpose of this study was to systematically review the existing literature to assess the clinical survival and success of PICN and ZLS indirect restorations as the clinical evidence for them remains lacking. PubMed, SCOPUS, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, LILACs, and SciElo databases were searched from 1 January 2000 to 1 February 2021. Clinical trials and cohort studies published in English were included while case studies, case series, and in vitro studies were excluded. Results were analyzed qualitatively and a meta-analysis using a random effects model was performed. A strength of recommendation taxonomy (SORT) analysis was conducted and risk of bias (RoB) was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale and Cochrane RoB tools. An electronic search through the databases yielded 2454 articles, of which 825 remained after duplicate removal. Five studies investigating PICN and four investigating ZLS indirect restorations remained after assessing for eligibility. The overall survival rate of PICN over 1 year was 99.6% and 99.2% over 2 years. The overall survival rate of ZLS over 1 year was 99%. The main mode of failure for both materials was catastrophic fracture. One study had a high RoB, four had a moderate RoB, and four had a low RoB. Both materials demonstrated moderate strength of recommendation at a level 2 evidence for all studies based on SORT analysis. PICN and ZLS show promising short-term clinical performance as full and partial coverage indirect restorations, but longer follow-up studies are required to confirm their long-term performance. The aim of the presented study was to perform a global sensitivity analysis of various design parameters affecting the lost motion of the harmonic drive. A detailed virtual model of a harmonic drive was developed, including the wave generator, the flexible ball bearing, the flexible spline and the circular spline. Finite element analyses were performed to observe which parameter from the harmonic drive geometry parameter group affects the lost motion value most. The analyses were carried out using 4% of the rated harmonic drive output torque by the locked wave generator and fixed circular spline according the requirements for the high accuracy harmonic drive units. The described approach was applied to two harmonic drive units with the same ratio, but various dimensions and rated power were used to generalize and interpret the global sensitivity analysis results properly. The most important variable was for both harmonic drives the offset from the nominal tooth shape.TiAl-based intermetallic alloys are prepared with Cu concentrations of 3-5 at.% (atomic ratio). The mechanical properties and microstructural characteristics of the alloys are investigated under static and dynamic loading conditions using a material testing system (MTS) and split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB), respectively. The electrochemical properties of the various alloys are then tested in Ringer's solution. It is shown that the level of Cu addition significantly affects both the flow stress and the ductility of the samples. For Cu contents of 3 and 4 at.%, respectively, the flow stress and strain rate sensitivity increase at higher strain rates. Furthermore, for a constant strain rate, a Cu content of 4 at.% leads to an increased fracture strain. However, for the sample with the highest Cu addition of 5 at.%, the flow stress and fracture strain both decrease. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and optical microscopy (OM) images reveal that the lower ductility is due to the formation of a greater quantity of γ phase in the binary TiAl alloy system. Among all the specimens, that with a Cu addition of 4 at.% has the best anti-corrosion performance. Overall, the results indicate that the favourable properties of the TiAlCu4 sample stem mainly from the low γ phase content of the microstructure and the high α2 phase content.
Calcium-silicate-based cements (CSC) have gained an increasing scientific and clinical relevance, enabling more conservative approaches, namely pulp preservation and regeneration therapies. This research aims to study the influence of four clinical variables on the interfaces between CSC and composite adhesive restoration, concerning shear bond strength (SBS) and ultra-morphological patterns.

SBS tests were performed in 320 specimens divided in 16 groups (n = 20) according to two CSC (NuSmile
NeoMTA, Biodentine
); two adhesive systems (Clearfil
SE Bond 2 (CSEB2), Clearfil
Universal Bond Quick (CUBQ)); optional application of an additional hydrophobic bonding layer (HBL); two restoration times (immediate, seven days). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was performed to conduct the ultra-morphology interface analysis in 32 deciduous molars prepared and randomly allocated into the 16 groups.

Globally, SBS tests showed higher bond strength of CUBQ compared to CSEB2 (
< 0.001), as with an additional HBL application (
= 0.014) and delayed restoration (
< 0.001). SEM showed the interpenetration between adhesive systems and CSC forming a hybrid layer, whose depth and thickness depended on the restoration time and adhesive strategy.

The independent clinical variables adhesive system, application of an additional HBL and restoration time affected the bond performance and ultra-morphological interface between composite adhesive restoration and CSC.

This work experimentally investigated the corrosion process involving various concentrations of NaCl-Na2SO4 leading to the coupled erosion of concrete. Exarafenib inhibitor The appearance, weight, and mechanical properties of the concrete were measured throughout the erosion process, and the Cl- and SO42- contents in concrete were determined using Cl- rapid testing and spectrophotometry, respectively. Scanning electron microscopy, energy spectrometry, X-ray diffractometry, and mercury porosimetry were also employed to analyze microstructural changes and complex mineral combinations in these samples. The results showed that with higher Na2SO4 concentration and longer exposure time, the mass, compressive strength, and relative dynamic elastic modulus gradually increased and large pores gradually transitioned to medium and small pores. When the Na2SO4 mass fraction in the salt solution was ≥10 wt%, there was a downward trend in the mechanical properties after exposure for a certain period of time. The Cl- diffusion rate was thus related to Na2SO4 concentration. When the Na2SO4 mass fraction in solution was ≤5 wt% and exposure time short, SO42- and cement hydration/corrosion products hindered Cl- migration. In a concentrated Na2SO4 environment (≥10 wt%), the Cl- diffusion rate was accelerated in the later stages of exposure. These experiments further revealed that the Cl- migration rate was higher than that of SO42-.The purpose of this study is to identify the stress levels that act in inlay and onlay restorations, according to the direction and value of the external force applied. The study was conducted using the Finite Element Method (FEM) of three types of ceramics pressed lithium disilicate and monolith, zirconia, and three different adhesive systems self-adhesive, universal, and dual-cure cements. In addition to FEM, the inlay/onlay-dental structure interface analysis was performed by means of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The geometric models were reconstructed based on computer tomography images of an undamaged molar followed by geometrical procedures of inducing the inlay and onlay reconstructions. The two functional models were then simulated for different orientations of external force and different material properties, according to the considered adhesives and ceramics. The Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was conducted on 30 extracted teeth, divided into three groups according to the adhesive cement type.
