World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to boost an item's gear score up to 700 and add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded to benefit from their unique stats (like an ideally made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, do not vary greatly post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. Additionally, many weapons have a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a unit. In some cases this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon is able to upgrade on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and current level. For example, an +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue rise until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is generally beneficial, it can have some negative consequences as well. For items that only see use in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them can render them useless unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.
Items of armor can also be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms, this will increase its defense base while gloves and belts increase their strength and dexterity. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it can sometimes change its roll to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will get when upgraded and their respective values. This means that a weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will be hit for 3 times less often, since it is an absolute statistic.
Rerolling a weapon can be possible by pressing the green button on the item menu with the arrows that circle. This will roll the item and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's levels or tie it to the account status.
Armor
A few tweaks to your armor could make a huge differences in your ability to endure. Certain sets offer massive increases in resistance to curses, poison fire, magic, and other. This can make it easier to navigate difficult areas. In general, the more defense you have for your character, the more health you'll gain from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.
To improve your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four of them and each one requires you to complete a unique side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees needed for each will vary. In general, you're looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent upgrade. The Champion Leathers, for instance, can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which allows you to stay ahead in frigid conditions with a large group of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded to +20 defense, which means you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.
It isn't possible to upgrade armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical power or the power of spells. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear to fight the final boss, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can gain some benefits to your armor. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades for the weapon that you'll use to beat the game. For example the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades to the helmets and chest armor to allow you to get around a few monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by the player, provide an immediate effect for a short period of time. There are five types of potions, each with particular effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness. In addition the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust the potions.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP, which can be earned by crafting them on a table or in the chest of the Alchemist. The price of upgrades varies based on the type of potion as well as the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI where you can choose the potions you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll give you when upgraded. Upgrading potions can be done in batches of up to five at a time and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP level.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade unless you take it out again or break the bottle within the container it is kept. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to rename it.
There were a few changes to the mechanics of potions in version 1.7.2. For example splash potions now have the duration of 0.08 seconds (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the item hover display). The potion table can now be crafted with four Wood Planks and two Glass. It can be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Additionally, using a potentio in a cauldron that is full drains the potion and replenishes the bottle.
Lastly, there are now lingering potions, which are brewed with splash and dragon breath potions. Similarly, a lingering potions can be enhanced by adding redstone. The potion table has been rearranged to appear more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added for instance, the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be described as a small and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to an object or ornament that has a purpose but is not important such as a thimble. In some traditions, trinkets are used to symbolize affection or friendship, specifically between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets like other items that can be upgraded can be traded at will without losing stats.
The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and in the capital of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades to trinkets are a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new one. You can upgrade a trinket for as little as 12 tokens. upgrade item will come with the same base ilvl as the older one, and include an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
Once the old Trinkets have become not usable, they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase their power and value with time. They can also be traded between players and are an attractive alternative to gold.
In general, players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondary items and finally, other gear items that will not be replaced soon (for example an earring or cloak). When deciding on which items to upgrade, players must also take into account the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player and they want to upgrade their helm, chest and shoulders.
When they are no longer useful trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket has an additional 1percent bonus. Re-upgrading can cause damage to the trinket unless it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, but is still cheaper than purchasing an entirely new trinket.
