Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic gear due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be used on weapons and armor items. They boost the stats of whatever item they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged using an expert or higher salvage kits to retrieve upgrades from the items.

The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon can absorb depends on the extent of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to its highest upgrade level will boost its damage absorption. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be heavier.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. Some upgrades give armor an additional number of health points, while others make it lighter and more powerful. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade that an item will be given, as illustrated below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which is identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require charges in order to be used. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either constantly updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small chests. Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Some weapons have special upgrades that enhance their inherent characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.


Most weapon upgrades require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade for applying. They can be obtained by finishing side quests, taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price of a set number of Bars. Jewels

Jewels can be used to improve a stat or provide secondary effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, where you combine gemstones with specific reagents on a table. The quality of a jewel can be improved upon by the Jeweler, with stages that range from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the level the jewel is at when it's slotted into weapons, jewelry, or gear.

The Jeweler can create all kinds of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones that you must be at an appropriate level to obtain. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels are able to be swapped with another identical jewel without destroying it. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in an equipment piece once.

Utilizing more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth and is usually performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Apart from improving performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.

In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that provide many small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They are available in the starting area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available through vendors and after doing road interaction. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket players can unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but beneficial boost in movement speed and the ability to escape. After that, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in the same fashion to how the player acquires armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be put into any type of equipment, while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that remain active whenever the hero is not fighting. This allows the hero to be more efficient while inactive. It also helps compensate for the absence of excellent slot in the talent tree or team which would normally be filled by the hero's optimal stats.

In general, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace in the near future. Then, you should consider any items with desirable stats that are less significant than the iLevel for the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you want to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It is best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
