The 10 Most Dismal Item Upgrader Fails Of All Time Could Have Been Prevented
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item can help players compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a good indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it's capable of causing. The level of the item can be used to compare items when examining the inventory of a vendor.

On your PC, you can check the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the full item description, including its value. It can also be located by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems found in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzards actual item level.

It's not the only factor that affects the value of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also alter its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times with higher prices.

Another method of altering the stats of an item is through affixes. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could be used to give the item extra damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an exclusive name to the item.

Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.

Players can choose to upgrade an item by specific stats, or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the range, unless it is an item that is unique or a God roll from a boss of a raid.

This is another aspect that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. As with the base equipment, this will have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is more beneficial in the early game, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. These can also be enhanced by using anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant a further +40 Luck or to boost the existing Luck of the item up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any skill that deals damage by 5%. These items are available in the shop or created using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their items if it is not successful.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an average success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This can block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
