What is an Upgrade Item in Genshin Impact?

Upgrade items are unique items that can help certain Pokemon evolve. They are made available by spinning Pokestop photo discs, and sometimes as rewards for events related to evolution.

They can be added to weapons, armors, trinkets and gathering tools in order to increase stats or effects. Certain upgrades also come with the appearance of a certain cosmetic when used.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor and trinkets to provide an added bonus or effect while the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, looted, earned as rewards, or crafted or dropped. Upgrade components are required to be higher leveled than the item that they are added to. They also require that the item has an upgrade slot. Upgrade components can be substituted with other upgrade components, with the exception for glyphs and inscriptions which can only be removed or added.

The most popular upgrade components are gems, infusions and enrichments. Gems are upgrade components that can be placed in any equipment, and provide smaller bonuses than other upgrade components. Infusions and enrichments are only able to be used on non-amulet equipment and some legendary equipment. You can retrieve them from the equipment that they are on using an Upgrade Extractor Device or by salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage tool.

Other upgrade items like glyphs and inscriptions are able to be removed or added to the gathering tools. They can give a range of bonuses, such as enhancing the gather speed or adding additional materials. Inscriptions can also alter the name of an item, such as changing a sword to be called "Fiery Sword" when you add a Sword Pommel of Fortitude inscription, or adding a Rune of Minor Vigor suffix to make it 'Canthan Armor of Major Vigor'.

Glyphs

Glyphs symbolize a concept or idea by using character symbols. For instance, a symbol can be an image, or a drawing of a flag or heart. Cases gg can be used to create an entire visual language. A glyph could also have a standard coding that is used by all fonts to indicate it. This code is called a Unicode.

The shape of glyphs dictates which Primary Stats and Secondary Stats can be added. Certain glyphs come with both Primary and Secondary Stats bonuses, while others have only one bonus. The glyphs with both secondary and primary stats will increase the stats of the whole unit, whereas ones with just one Primary Stat bonus will increase the stat values.

When you create an entirely new glyph set it is saved along with other InDesign preferences in an image file that can be shared. You can also choose whether the glyphs will be remembered by their fonts when you insert them into text.

Rare glyphs are crucial for your build, and you should start farming them as soon as possible. They drop frequently in World Tier 3 dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, and other content from the endgame. They are much easier to collect than the difficult shards that you can get from crafting items, and they offer a better upgrade to your gear. Moreover, the fact that they can be applied to a variety of items means that you can increase the damage and defense of your gear without investing too many shards.

Rerolling

Rerolling is a popular practice in Genshin Impact, as it allows players to increase their chances of acquiring the best characters and weapons. The process involves creating an entirely new account, and claiming pre-registration or launch rewards. This gives players another chance to get random items. This isn't without risk.

The game provides a wide variety of upgrades to improve the performance of a particular unit. Upgrades for weapons, armor and rings are available.
