World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades provide players with the ability to upgrade their equipment that they already have. This can be done at any item upgrader NPC.
Generally, upgrades boost an item's main stats and provide extras depending on the item type. Examples include Whistan's shield for FB Sorcs, or Goldwraps for caster builds.
Armour
Armour is one of the most important factors that keep Link protected from damage in the majority of situations. While it cannot be upgraded like weapons, it is able to be improved in different ways to improve its defence capabilities.
Armour is designed to shield animals and people from harm or injury regardless of whether it's a direct physical attack or a range of environmental or activity hazards. Historically, most armour was made of fabric or leather, but metal protections were also utilized particularly for military purposes like heavy cavalry and combat drones.
Like weapons, there are a number of ways in which armour can be upgraded, but most will require visiting one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain provides a different degree of improvement with more protection levels requiring more rupees and other materials.
The first thing you need to know about Armor Upgrades is that they are upgrades that last forever which means that once they've been applied they are not able to be replaced unless you have another piece of equipment that has the same upgrade. It is essential to only apply the highest grade of upgrades to your equipment and ensure that you have the required materials to complete the process.
In terms of acquiring the required upgrade components you'll find them in a variety of places around Hyrule including shrines, merchants as well as enemies. They are typically marked by the blue triangle or gold circle symbol and are found in huge quantities as you progress. They could appear randomly, however there is a chance that obtaining certain upgrades can trigger a quest that will reward you with more.
It's important to note that, although the level that upgrades offer may differ, it will always be greater than nothing. This is because a full set of upgraded armour will grant you a high defense boost that will protect you from all types of attacks, excluding magic and makes it a formidable tool for any class.
Weapons
You can upgrade your guns by using special upgrades to make them truly unique. These upgrades can increase the damage or alter the stats of the weapon in accordance with your particular build. They also allow new attachments such as unique enchantments, various kinds of ammunition, and aesthetic options.
To upgrade a weapon, you'll need an upgrade component in place and the item. The weapon must also be above a certain level for the upgrade to take effect and the majority of weapons can only take one upgrade at one time.
You can find weapons upgrade components scattered throughout the globe and from enemies and can be purchased from merchants. The upgrade components themselves are a mix of components that can be put into armor, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools to grant an attribute bonus or additional effect while they're in use. They require that the equipment be of a certain degree to be able to take the upgrade. They can be upgraded in the same manner as other items.
The upgrades themselves are a mix of Smithing Stones and Runes, and they can be used to enhance the stats of the base weapon and enhancing its scale with other stats. They can be obtained from enemies who drop them in the open world, bought from a few merchants, or obtained through drops during combat.
There are two NPCs that can upgrade your weapons: Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub area and the Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor hub area. Both of these NPCs will take your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a higher-level version of the weapon and an upgrade.
Prioritize upgrading your top-in-slot items first. Then, upgrade the items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. If you're playing a melee build, for example, upgrade your weapon first, then your shoulders and chest before your feet and hands. The same principle applies to Magic and Utility Items. However, depending on your playstyle, some specific items are more useful than others. Similar is the case for Armour and reforges, with some being superior to others.
Magic Items
A character can only upgrade one item of magic at one time. If an upgrade project is cancelled and the next upgrade for that item will not begin. Magic items that are upgraded will cost twice the amount of gold they normally cost to create or purchase however they may provide additional advantages.
A magical item is an item that has special properties or effects. The majority of these items are weapons, but there are some that include armor, shields, cloaks, potions, scrolls, rings and other items. Certain of these items can be made to speak.
Most magical items can be upgraded to become infused with additional abilities. This makes them more useful to players or help them to overcome a difficult situation. An infused weapon might provide bonus damage against a particular enemy type, for example. This is especially beneficial for those who have reached a level where they're likely to encounter a particular kind of monster over and over again in Dungeons.
A ring with an infusion could grant protection against piercing, bludgeoning, or slashing damage from non-magical attacks (not even silvered ones) until the next time the character is taking a long rest. This is especially useful for combatants who are melee or anyone looking to avoid purchasing a shield.
Some enchanted objects have special powers that allow the character to cast spells that aren't on their class list. This is useful for a character who has difficulty keeping their spell slots full due to multiclassing. These items that are enchanted typically require an Intelligence (Arcana) check to use them, and the spell is determined by rolling on a table determined by the number of Intelligence points used.
Other objects that are enchanted can permit the character's appearance to be altered or create a new appearance. These items are especially useful for characters who have been forced to leave their home or in a place in which they are not welcomed. A magical item may provide them with invisibility or make them invisible for everyone, except for the chosen person.
Utility Items
Utility items are those that do not fit into the categories of Armor, Clothing or Weapons, and provide various capabilities. In contrast to weapons and armor they are not a single utility item that is able to be in conflict with another. The majority of utility items have a passive effect that the player can activate when using them, however, some come with additional capabilities that are triggered when the user presses the button or activates a skill.
The most popular type of utility item is the Flashlight that illuminates the surrounding area. Other options include the Helicopter Hat and Rocket Boots, which allow players to fly in the air while moving and the Jetpack which allows the player to accelerate in any direction while on the ground. In the Engineering section, you can create instantly a variety of utility items, while others are available only through Research projects or experimental projects on the Proving Ground.
Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to the ones that are available in their normal inventory by purchasing them from the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Certain of these items can be upgraded for more effective use.
Most utility items increase an individual combat ability or give the player a kind of advantage when it comes to navigation. For example, Sharpening stones crafted by the Weaponsmith boost Ferocity and Power and Maintenance Oils made by the Huntsman increase the power of concentration and healing. Other items that are useful can be used by the player to increase Damage or Condition Damage.
All XCOM soldiers can equip a utility item at the beginning of the campaign. Eventually, an additional slot is made available by acquiring certain types of armor or completing engineering, research or experiments in the Proving Ground. In the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are added by equipping the Grenade Launcher which lets the player equip an Smoke Grenade or Bomb in an additional grenade slot while an offensive grenade is equipped in the main slot for grenades.
