[Drifts and also pernicious outcomes of the quantitative evaluation of study: any susipicious activity regarding bibliometrics].
Computed tomography angiography (CT-angiography, CTA) allows noninvasive visualization of coronary arteries (CA). This method is highly sensitive in detecting coronary atherosclerosis. However, standard CTA does not allow evaluation of the hemodynamic significance of found CA stenoses, which requires additional functional tests for detection of myocardial ischemia. This review focuses on possibilities of clinical use, limitations, technical aspects, and prospects of a combination of CT-angiography and CT myocardial perfusion imaging in diagnostics of ischemic heart disease. This cross-sectional study included early menopausal and late menopausal women aged between 40 and 60 years to evaluate the effects of menopause on semicircular canal function. A video head impulse test (vHIT) was performed for all subjects. Vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) mean gains of each semicircular canal and gain asymmetry were compared between groups. Of the 87 subjects, 37(42.5%) were reproductive age 28(32.5%) were early menopausal and 22(25.3%) were late menopausal patients. VOR gain of semicircular canals or gain asymmetry values did not differ between groups. In postmenopausal women, presence of vasomotor symptoms was associated with higher gain asymmetry of the left anterior-right posterior (LARP) plane (p = .01), and presence of balance problems was associated with lower right anterior (RA) VOR gain (p = .01). In conclusion semicircular canal function in postmenopausal women was similar to that in women of reproductive age. IMPACT STATEMENT What is already known on this subject? During menopause, women face potential risks such as dizziness, balance problems, falls and fractures. Postmenopausal patients were tested with dynamic posturography to measure balance before and after oestrogen treatment, and it was shown that balance problems significantly improved with oestrogen treatment. Healthy vestibular system is one of the components for sustaining normal balance. What do the results of this study add? In postmenopausal women the function of the semicircular canals is normal and the balance deficit in postmenopausal women may not be caused by the vestibular system. In this study changes within normal limits were observed in vestibular system of postmenopausal women. What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Reported balance deficits might have been due to central origin. Further research to differentiate origin of balance deficits are needed. Specific research on symptomatic postmenopausal patients would reveal more information. The relationship between alcohol consumption and traumatic brain injury (TBI) often focuses on alcohol consumption increasing the likelihood of incurring a TBI, rather than alcohol use outcomes after TBI. However, patients without a history of an alcohol use disorder can also show increased problem drinking after single or multiple TBIs. Alcohol and mild TBI share diffuse deleterious neurological impacts and cognitive impairments; therefore, the purpose of these studies was to determine if an interaction on brain and behavior outcomes occurs when alcohol is consumed longitudinally after TBI. To examine the impact of mild repetitive TBI (rmTBI) on voluntary alcohol consumption, mice were subjected to four mild TBI or sham procedures over a 2 week period, then offered alcohol (20% v/v) for 2 weeks using the two-bottle choice, drinking in the dark protocol. Following the drinking period, mice were evaluated for neuroinflammatory cytokine response or tested for cognitive and behavioral deficits. Results indicate no difference in alcohol consumption or preference following rmTBI as compared to sham; however, increases in the neuroinflammatory cytokine response due to alcohol consumption and some mild cognitive behavioral deficits after rmTBI and alcohol consumption were observed. These data suggest that the cytokine response to alcohol drinking and rmTBI + alcohol drinking is not necessarily aggregate, but the combination does result in an exacerbation of cognitive behavioral outcomes. The paper presents the novel method of damage identification and quantification in beams using the Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD). The presented non-parametric method is characterized by high sensitivity to a local stiffness decrease due to the presence of damage, comparable with the sensitivity of the wavelet-based approaches, however the lack of selection of the parameters of the algorithm, like wavelet type and its order, and the possibility of reduction of the boundary effect make this method advantageous with respect to the mentioned wavelet-based approaches. Moreover, the direct relation between the energy density resulting from the application of WVD to modal rotations make it possible to quantify damage in terms of its width and depth. The results obtained for the numerical modal rotations of a beam presented in this paper, simulating the results of non-destructive testing achievable with the shearography non-destructive testing method, confirm high accuracy in localization of a damage as well as quantification of its dimensions. It was shown that the WVD-based method is suitable for detection of damage represented by the stiffness decrease of 1% and can be identified and quantified with a high precision. The presented results of quantification allowed extracting information on damage width and depth. This study prognoses the remaining useful life of a turbofan engine using a deep learning model, which is essential for the health management of an engine. The proposed deep learning model affords a significantly improved accuracy by organizing networks with a one-dimensional convolutional neural network, long short-term memory, and bidirectional long short-term memory. In particular, this paper investigates two practical and crucial issues in applying the deep learning model for system prognosis. The first is the requirement of numerous sensors for different components, i.e., the curse of dimensionality. Second, the deep neural network cannot identify the problematic component of the turbofan engine due to its "black box" property. This study thus employs dimensionality reduction and Shapley additive explanation (SHAP) techniques. selleck inhibitor Dimensionality reduction in the model reduces the complexity and prevents overfitting, while maintaining high accuracy. SHAP analyzes and visualizes the black box to identify the sensors.
