Microplastics are increasingly pervasive pollutants, particularly abundant in the neuston where they drift with currents. We assessed dietary microplastic ingestion in the Mediterranean storm petrel (Hydrobates pelagicus melitensis), a small pelagic seabird that forages on plankton and inhabit the Mediterranean sea, one of the most polluted seas worldwide. We collected spontaneous regurgitates from 30 chick-rearing individuals and used GPS tracking data from 7 additional individuals to locate foraging areas. Birds foraged in pelagic areas characterized by water stirring and mixing, and regurgitates from 14 individuals (i.e. 45 %) contained microplastics. Fibers were the dominant shape (56 %), with polyester, polyethylene and nylon being the most frequent polymers. Our findings highlight the potential sensitivity of this species of conservation interest to plastic pollution and suggest that storm petrel regurgitates can be a valuable matrix to investigate microplastic ingestion in planktonic foragers, providing a characterization of spatio-temporal patterns of microplastic exposure in pelagic environments.Studies show that a driver of coastal debris is the rate between debris deposition and resuspension; however, the influence of beach zone topography on the distribution of debris remains poorly understood. Using five years of marine debris data collected by the COASST citizen science program, we explored the spatiotemporal trends in debris abundance within two regions of the United States Pacific Northwest and investigated whether higher debris loads are associated with beach zones that have a higher propensity to trap debris. We found that beaches with larger wood zones had higher debris loads, adding to the growing evidence that backshore areas of beaches act as sinks for debris. Higher debris loads were also associated with beaches that had larger wrack zones suggesting that onshore transport from the marine reservoir is a dominant source of debris. This study provides a long-term baseline of marine debris which managers could use to inform source reduction interventions.It is not just a rail driver but a "system" that drives a train and network controllers apply non-technical skills to facilitate their role as part of a team. In this review, we have hyphenated different studies regarding ERs and a thorough and detailed study of estrogen receptors is presented. This review highlights different aspects of estrogens ranging from receptor types, their isoforms, structures, signaling pathways of ERα, ERβ and GPER along with their crystal structures, pathological roles of ER, ER ligands, and therapeutic strategies to overcome the resistance.New series of thiazole and imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole derivatives were synthesized and tested for their in vitro anticancer activity. Compounds 27, 34, 39 and 42-44 showed the best anticancer activity against the tested cancer cell lines with high safety profile and selectivity indices, especially MCF-7 breast cancer, compared to sorafenib. As an attempt to reveal their mode of cytotoxicity, EGFR, HER2 kinase and DHFR inhibition assays were performed. Compounds 39 and 43 were the most potent dual EGFR/HER2 kinase inhibitors, with IC50 values of 0.153 (EGFR), 0.108 (HER2) and 0.122 (EGFR), 0.078 (HER2) μM, respectively. 39 and 42 were the best DHFR inhibitors showing IC50 0.291 and 0.123 μM, respectively. 39 and 43 induced their cytotoxicity via cell cycle arrest at G1/S and G1 phases, respectively, and apoptosis rather than necrosis in the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line. Modeling study results proved the importance of the 5-(4-substituted phenyl)-imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole moiety and the hydrazide side chain for the anticancer activity. The most potent compounds showed good drug-likeness features and could be used as prototypes for further optimization. 39 could be an example of a multi-targeting anticancer agent that acts by inhibiting EGFR/HER2 kinase, DHFR enzymes and cellular apoptosis.
The decrease of nutritional status has affected one-third hospitalized patients, while there is no widely used definition of malnutrition. Refeeding syndrome is a severe complication of refeeding in people with malnutrition, it includes a series of electrolyte disorders and clinical symptoms. Further research is warranted to determine whether refeeding syndrome prolongs the length of stay, and to verify the effect of different energy intakes during refeeding on the length of stay in people with malnutrition. Our review aimed to explore the effects of refeeding syndrome and initial calorie intake on the length of stay in patients with malnutrition. This study aids the understanding of clinical nutrition strategies to prevent and treat refeeding syndrome.

PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Knowledge, and two Chinese databases were systematically searched until October 2021. Controlled studies of patients' refeeding process with the outcome of length of stay were included. Effect sizes were expressed ag.
The average length of stay in patients with refeeding syndrome was 25.55 days with a very high heterogeneity between studies. Refeeding syndrome affects the length of stay in part of, but not all, patients. In the present review, we concluded that higher initial calorie intake may help shorten the length of stay in patients with malnutrition. More well-designed randomized controlled trials are needed to explore the effect of calorie intake during refeeding.
Maternal diet during pregnancy is a modifiable behaviour which plays an important role in maternal, neonatal and child health outcomes. Thus, knowledge of predictors of dietary quality and dietary inflammatory potential in European countries may contribute to developing maternal diet-related public health policies that target specific at-risk populations in Europe.

We used harmonised data from >26,000 pregnant women enrolled in the ALSPAC, EDEN, Generation R, Lifeways, REPRO_PL, ROLO and SWS cohorts, as part of the ALPHABET consortium. Maternal dietary quality and inflammatory potential were assessed using the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) and the energy-adjusted Dietary Inflammatory Index (E-DII). We conducted an individual participant data meta-analysis to investigate the maternal sociodemographic, health and behavioural predictors of maternal diet before and during pregnancy.

DASH and E-DII scores were moderately correlated from-0.63 (95% CI-0.66,-0.59) to-0.48 (95% CI-0.49,-0.47) across cohorts. Higher maternal age, education, household income, and physical activity during pregnancy were associated with a better dietary quality and a more anti-inflammatory diet. Conversely, multiparity and smoking during pregnancy were associated with a poorer dietary quality and a more proinflammatory diet. Women with obesity had a poorer pregnancy dietary quality than women with a normal body mass index range.

At present, there is a lack of efficient modeling methods for bionic artificial bone scaffolds, and the tissue fluid/nutrient mass transport characteristics of bone scaffolds has not been evaluated sufficiently. This study aims to explore an effective and efficient modeling method for biomimetic porous bone scaffolds for biological three-dimensional printing based on the imitation of the histomorphological characteristics of human vertebral cancellous bone. The fluid mass transport and mechanical characteristics of the porous scaffolds were evaluated and compared with those of a human cancellous bone,and the relationship between the geometric parameters (e.g., the size, number, shape of pores and porosity) and the performence of biomimetic porous bone scaffolds are revealed.

The bionic modeling design method proposed in this study considers the biological characteristics of vertebral cancellous tissue and performs imitation and design of vertebrae-like two-dimensional slices images.It then reconstructs the slices layer-by-layer to form porous scaffolds with a three-dimensional reconstruction method, similar to computed tomography image reconstruction.
