Father-Daughter Associations between Latin Teenagers Who Tried Suicide: An Exploratory Dyadic Analysis.
The aim was to explore physical activity (PA) in different daily contexts, among older adults in Northern Iceland; and by urban-rural living, age-group and sex. Moreover, to study the association between PA and depression.

The study was cross-sectional, population based and data was collected in 2017-'18 in Northern Iceland. The 175 community-dwelling participants (participation rate 59.7%) were 65-92 years old, 43% were women, and 40% lived in rural areas. The Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly (PASE) was used to obtain a total PA score and three subs-scores reflecting PA associated with leisure-time, household and work. The Geriatric Depression Scale was used to detect depressive symptoms.

Total PA was the same for urban and rural people, men were more active than women, and the 65-74 years age-group was more active than the 75-92 years age-group. People in rural areas were more likely to do work-related PA than people in urban areas, as was the 65-74 years age-group compared to the 75-92 years age-group. Men were more PA during household than women. Higher total PA and the sub-scores of PASE had significant association with fewer depressive symptoms. PA in leisure-time was the only PASE sub-score with a significant and independent association with fewer depressive symptoms.

The results improve the knowledge on PA among older community-dwelling adults, and its relationship with depressive symptoms. Although PA in different contexts has various health benefits, an emphasis on leisure-time PA may have the most beneficial effect on mental health.

The options available are removal of rods and observation, removal of rods and immediate fusion, or replacement/maintenance of rods. We present 2 cases of early-onset scoliosis patients treated with Magec rods, up to skeletal maturity. In the first case of a Lenke 3 scoliosis (14 years and 11 months) with a thoracic curve of 50° and lumbar curve of 40°, we removed the rods and kept the patient under observation. After 5 months, the patient showed curve progression, with a thoracic curve of 61° and a lumbar curve of 57°. Consequently, we performed an instrumented T4 to L4 fusion with a correction of the thoracic curve of 66% and lumbar curve of 60%. In the second case of a Lenke 1 scoliosis (15 years and 10 months) with a thoracic curve of 38°, the rods were removed and the patient was kept under observation. After 10 months, following a curve progression, presenting a thoracic curve of 72°, we performed an instrumented fusion T5 to L2 and right thoracoplasty (6th to 11th ribs) with a 40% curve correction. Observing these 2 cases at the end of the treatment with Magec rods, even in case of a good and satisfying final correction, skeletal maturity, and secondary sexual characteristics, we recommend immediate instrumented spine fusion.
The COVID-19 pandemic is likely to increase anxiety and distress in young people worldwide. learn more It is important to prioritize mental health during crisis events to mitigate the negative and often long-term effects of the crises on young people, families, and society. Mental health and well-being apps represent a scalable approach for improving psychological outcomes in young people and have potential to improve the equity of service access.

The Whitu 7 Ways in 7 Days well-being app was recently developed by our group to address the urgent need for innovative approaches to reach young New Zealanders who are struggling to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this study is twofold to evaluate the acceptability of the prototype app and to examine the effectiveness of the refined app at improving mental and emotional well-being and reducing depression, anxiety, and stress in young people in New Zealand.

A two-phase mixed methods study will be undertaken to achieve these aims. During the first phase, 20 yoropriate, scalable mental health interventions to address the psychological consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, we will develop and test an evidence-based well-being app that, if effective, can be made available to all young people in New Zealand and internationally.

PRR1-10.2196/23716.Via mobile sensing measurements, this study applies the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model to deal with the mobile fuzzy control design problem for nonlinear time-delay parabolic partial differential equation (PDE) systems. Initially, we use a T-S fuzzy model to accurately represent the nonlinear time-delay parabolic PDE system. Subsequently, under the assumption that the actuators and sensors are collocated while the spatial domain is divided by several subdomains, a control scheme containing the fuzzy controllers and the guidance of mobile actuator/sensor pairs is proposed based on the obtained T-S fuzzy model, where the projection modification guidance to be designed can guarantee that each mobile actuator/sensor pair moves within the prescribed area. Then, using the Lyapunov direct method and integral inequalities, a membership-function-dependent design of fuzzy controllers plus mobile actuator/sensor guidance laws is developed to render the resulting closed-loop time-delay system exponentially stable. Moreover, the exponential decay rate can also be increased by the proposed mobile guidance laws. Finally, numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method and the application of mobile actuator/sensor pairs contributes to accelerating the convergence speed of the closed-loop state. This article focuses on the target search problem in a curve-shape area using multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), with the demand for obtaining the maximum cumulative detection reward, as well as the constraint of maneuverability and obstacle avoidance. First, the prior target probability map of the curve-shape area, generated by Parzen windows with Gaussian kernels, is approximated by the 1-D Gaussian mixture model (GMM) in order to extract some high-value curve segments corresponding to Gaussian components. Based on the parameterized curve segments from GMM, the self-organizing map (SOM) neural network is then established to achieve the coverage search. The step of winner neuron selection in SOM will prioritize and allocate the curve segments to UAVs, with the comprehensive consideration of multiple evaluation factors and allocation balance. The following step of neuron weight update will plan the UAV paths under the constraint of maneuverability and obstacle avoidance, using the modified Dubins guidance vector field.
