In the MASSIVE study, the average MI of all slices increased for both eddy current and field inhomogeneity distortion correction. The average absolute differences of all slices between corrected images with opposing gradients were also on average decreased. This work indicates that the log-demons DIR algorithm is feasible to reduce eddy current and field inhomogeneity distortions while preserving quantitative diffusion information. The immunochromatographic strip test (ICST) is a powerful on-site detection technology due to its unique advantages of simplicity, rapidity, and readability by the naked eye. Here we illustrate the potential of α-Fe2O3 polyhedrons as a novel visual label, which exhibit advantages of high stability and economy, for the detection of Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) as a model foodborne pathogen. A low-cost and simple one-step solvothermal approach was developed for the synthesis of α-Fe2O3 polyhedrons; the average diameter of the α-Fe2O3 polyhedrons is about 200 nm. The crystal structure and morphology of α-Fe2O3 polyhedrons were characterized by x-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope. α-Fe2O3 polyhedrons were immunized with anti-L. monocytogenes antibody to prepare an antibody-colloidal α-Fe2O3 polyhedron ICST. Visual detection can be obtained directly by the naked eye within 10 min. The detection limit of L. monocytogenes by α-Fe2O3 polyhedron ICST assay was 3.8 × 106 and 5.6 × 106 CFU/ml of pure culture and artificially spiked orange juice drink sample, respectively. Results indicated that the antibody-colloidal α-Fe2O3 polyhedron ICST is a rapid, simple, and low-cost assay. This approach showed great potential in the application of foodborne pathogen detection concerning food safety.
Phase angle (PA), a bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) parameter, has proven to be a proxy of body cell mass in athletes, but very few data are available on its segmental evaluation (upper and lower limbs). Therefore, we aimed to assess whether whole-body and segmental PA varied among elite male athletes of different sports and compared these to control groups. Additionally, we investigated its relationship with anthropometric and body composition parameters.
Elite athletes practicing cycling, water polo and ballet dance aged 18-40 years underwent anthropometric and BIA measurements. PA (whole-body and upper and lower limbs) was considered as raw BIA variable. Data were also compared with healthy subjects with similar characteristics who served as control groups.
Participants included three groups of male athletes 18 cyclists (age 28.6 ± 3.4 years; weight 70.6 ± 5.4 kg; BMI 21.5 ± 1.4 kg m
), 20 water polo players (age 23.9 ± 4 years; weight 89.0 ± 5.2 kg; BMI 25.9 ± 1.9 kg m
) and 18 ballet danceseful for assessing and monitoring the differences among athletes and changes due to training.One-dimensional ZnO nanostructures have shown great potential in electronics, optoelectronics and electromechanical devices owing to their unique physical and chemical properties. Most of these nanostructures were grown by equilibrium processes where the defects density is controlled by thermodynamic equilibrium. In this work, flash sintering, a non-equilibrium field-assisted processing method, has been used to synthesize ZnO nanostructures. By applying a high electric field and limiting a low current flow, ZnO nanorods grew uniformly by a vapor-liquid-solid mechanism due to the extreme temperatures achieved near the hot spot. High density basal stacking faults in the nanorods along with ultraviolet excitonic emission and a red emission under room temperature demonstrate the potential of defect engineering in nanostructures via the field-assisted growth method.Domain walls in Cu-Cl boracite develop as a consequence of an improper ferroelastic, improper ferroelectric transition, and have attracted close interest because some are conductive and all can be mechanically written and repositioned by application of an electric field. The phase transition and its associated dynamical properties have been analysed here from the perspective of strain and elasticity. Determination of spontaneous strains from published lattice parameter data has allowed the equilibrium long-range order parameter for F [Formula see text]3c → Pca21 to be modelled simply as being close to the order-disorder limit. High acoustic loss in the cubic phase, revealed by resonant ultrasound spectroscopy, is consistent with the presence of dynamical microdomains of the orthorhombic structure with relaxation times in the vicinity of ∼10-5-10-6 s. Low acoustic loss in the stability field of the orthorhombic structure signifies, on the other hand, that ferroelastic twin walls which develop as a consequence of the order-disorder process are immobile on this time scale. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/pt2977.html A Debye loss peak accompanied by ∼1% elastic stiffening at ∼40 K is indicative of some freezing of defects which couple with strain or of some more intrinsic freezing process. The activation energy of ⩾∼0.01-0.02 eV implies a mechanism which could involve strain relaxation clouds around local ferroelectric dipoles or freezing of polarons that determine the conductivity of twin walls.
The Subthalamic Nucleus (STN) is the most selected target for the placement of the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) electrode to treat Parkinson's disease. Its identification is a delicate and challenging task which is based on the interpretation of the STN functional activity acquired through microelectrode recordings (MER). Aim of this work is to explore the potentiality of a set of twenty-five features to build a classification model for the discrimination of MER signals belonging to the STN.
We explored the use of different sets of spike-dependent and spike-independent features in combination with an Ensemble Trees classification (ET) algorithm on a dataset composed of thirteen patients receiving bilateral DBS. We compared results from six subsets of features and two dataset conditions (with and without standardization) using performance metrics on a leave-one-patient-out validation schema.
We obtained statistically better results (i.e., higher accuracy p-value = 0.003) on the raw dataset than on the standardized one, where the selection of seven features using a minimum redundancy maximum relevance (MRMR) algorithm provided a mean accuracy of 94.
