As an evidence resource for the currently planned European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) clinical practice guideline "systemic treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD)," we critically appraised evidence on systemic treatments for moderate-to-severe AD.

We systematically identified randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating the safety and efficacy of systemic treatments for AD up to February 2020. Primary efficacy outcomes were clinical signs, AD symptoms and health-related quality of life. Primary safety outcomes included cumulative incidence rates for (serious) adverse events. Trial quality was assessed applying the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool 2.0. Meta-analyses were conducted where appropriate.

50 RCTs totalling 6681 patients were included. Trial evidence was identified for apremilast, azathioprine (AZA), baricitinib, ciclosporin A (CSA), corticosteroids, dupilumab, interferon-gamma, intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG), mepolizumab, methotrexate (MTX), omalizumab, upadacitinib andr AZA, baricitinib and CSA. Methodological restrictions led to limited evidence-based conclusions for all other systemic treatments. The tests exhibit high power under a wide range of multivariate alternatives, some of which existing tests have little power for. The asymptotic permutation null distributions of the proposed tests are studied and the P-values calculated through the asymptotic results work well in simulation studies, facilitating the application of the test to large data sets. The tests are illustrated in a study of the effect of smoking on blood lead levels. The proposed tests are implemented in an R package BalanceCheck.
Different tools have been developed and validated to measure unfinished nursing care. However, no systematic review of the psychometric properties has been performed describing the quality of the methods used to estimate their validity.

(a) To identify tools measuring unfinished nursing care that have undergone validation processes; (b) to evaluate critically the quality of the methods used in ascertaining their psychometric properties; and (c) to compare the estimated psychometric properties of these tools.

A systematic review of the psychometric properties also evaluating their methodological quality was performed by following the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) guideline for systematic reviews.

The databases Medline, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, PubMed, Google and Google Scholar were searched up to 30 June 2018.

A cross-sectional study involving members of the Malaysian public was carried out using the convenience sampling method. Descriptive statistics were used to summarise the socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents. Associations between knowledge items/scores and other items were assessed using Spearman's rank correlations and Cramer's V. Regression analyses were carried out to determine whether the socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents influenced knowledge and practice relating to unregistered medications.

Tripe palms (TP) is one of the rare cutaneous paraneoplastic manifestations of various intra-abdominal malignancies. TP and malignant acanthosis nigricans (MAN) occur together and may precede even years before the index cancer. Though rare, the clinical significance of TP and MAN holds significance as an indicator of internal malignancy.

Here, we describe 71-year, postmenopausal female with ovarian cancer who presented to us with a history of dyspepsia, abdominal distension, and weight loss. On detailed history and evaluation, it was found that she had TP and MAN 4 years before diagnosis.

To evaluate the diagnostic significance of the novel index combining preoperative haemoglobin, albumin levels, lymphocyte and platelet counts (HALP) in prostate cancer (PCa) patients.

Between 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2018 at the Hitit University Erol Olçok Education and Research Hospital 225 patients who had undergone transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy or prostate surgery were analysed retrospectively. A total of patients, 155 had benign prostate hyperplasia (group 1) and 70 had PCa (group 2). The preoperative serum levels of haemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte counts and platelet counts were recorded. The HALP scores and the sub-parameters of this index for each of the two groups were compared.

The total Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA), albumin and lymphocyte differences between the groups were statistically significant (P= 0.0002, P= 0.0001, P= 0.005). The median value of HALP scores in Group 1 and 2 were 49.43 and 51.2, respectively, and this was not statistically significant between groups (P=0.737). The HALP score had the least Area Under Curve (AUC) value compared with the others (0.514). The AUC of Albumin was larger than PSA for diagnostic efficacy in PCa patients (0.696-0.656). However, albumin levels were statistically significant compared with platelet count and the HALP score (P= 0.0033, P= 0.0068), except PSA and lymphocyte (P= 0.4580, P=0.1717).

Further prospective clinical studies that include more patients from multiple centres are needed to show the diagnostic role of the HALP score and its compounds on the patients with PCa.

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of once-weekly subcutaneous semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue, versus once-daily sitagliptin as add-on to metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) in a multiregional clinical trial.

In the 30-week, randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, active comparator SUSTAIN China trial, 868 adults with T2D inadequately controlled on metformin (HbA1c 7.0%-10.5%) were randomized to receive once-weekly semaglutide 0.5 mg (n = 288), semaglutide 1.0 mg (n = 290) or once-daily sitagliptin 100 mg (n = 290). link2 The primary and confirmatory secondary endpoints were change from baseline to week 30 in HbA
and body weight, respectively.

Metalloproteinases, which were first identified as collagen cleaving enzymes, have been shown to extensively degrade extracellular matrix proteins or selectively release cell surface-bound cytokines, growth factors, or their receptors, thereby impacting extracellular matrix integrity, immune cell recruitment and tissue turnover. Although tumor cells produce various metalloproteinases, the major source is thought to be stromal cells infiltrating the tumor. Different types of stromal cells express specific sets of metalloproteinases and their inhibitors, which specifically alter the milieu within the tumor. In this review, recent findings and knowledge regarding metalloproteinases derived from stromal cells during the creation of the tumor microenvironment are described and their contribution to the tumor progression and metastasis discussed.
