Accurate identification of nodal status enables adequate neck irradiation for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). However, most conventional techniques are unable to pick up occult metastases, leading to underestimation of tumor extensions. Here we investigate the clinical significance of carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) in human NPC samples, and develop a CAIX-targeted imaging strategy to identify occult lymph node metastases (LNMs) and extranodal extension (ENE) in animal studies.
A total of 211 NPC samples are performed CAIX staining, and clinical outcomes are analyzed. The metastatic murine models are generated by foot pad injection of NPC cells, and a CAIX-targeted imaging agent (CAIX-800) is intravenously administered. We adopt fluorescence molecular tomography and ultrasonography (US)-guided spectroscopic photoacoustic (sPA) imaging to perform in vivo studies. Histological and immunohistochemical characterization are carried out via node-by-node analysis.

F]-FDG PET/CT scans have shown promising results. This study aims to investigate which lesion- and feature-selection approaches/methods resulted in the best prediction of progression after 2years.
A total of 296 patients were included. 485 radiomics features (n = 5 conventional PET, n = 22 morphology, n = 50 intensity, n = 408 texture) were extracted for all individual lesions and at patient level, where all lesions were aggregated into one VOI. 18 features quantifying dissemination were extracted at patient level. Several lesion selection approaches were tested (largest or hottest lesion, patient level [all with/without dissemination], maximum or median of all lesions) and compared to the predictive value of our previously published model. Several data reduction methods were applied (principal component analysis, recursive feature elimination (RFE), factor analysis, and univods, patient level conventional PET features and dissemination features have the highest predictive value. However, it is still unclear whether high levels of GDNF promote AG occurrence or if they are secondary to AG formation. We previously reported that high concentrations of GDNF (200 and 500 ng/mL) can inhibit DNA damage-induced rat primary astrocytes (RA) apoptosis, suggesting that high concentrations of GDNF may be involved in the malignant transformation of astrocytes to AG cells. Here we show that 200 ng/mL GDNF significantly increased the proliferation and migration ability of RA cells and human primary astrocytes (HA). This treatment also induced RA cells to highly express Pgf, Itgb2, Ibsp, Loxl2, Lif, Cxcl10, Serpine1, and other genes that enhance AG proliferation and migration. LOXL2 is an important AG occurrence and development promotion factor and was highly expressed in AG tissues and cells. High concentrations of GDNF promote LOXL2 expression and secretion in RA cells through GDNF family receptor alpha-1(GFRα1)/rearranged during transfection proto-oncogene (RET)/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)/phosphorylated cyclic AMP response element binding protein (pCREB) signaling. GDNF-induced LOXL2 significantly promotes RA and HA cell proliferation and migration, and increases the expression of Ccl2, Gbp5, MMP11, TNN, and other genes that regulate the extracellular microenvironment in RA cells. Our results demonstrate that high concentrations of GDNF activate LOXL2 expression and secretion via the GFRα1/RET/MAPK/pCREB signal axis, which leads to remodeling of the astrocyte extracellular microenvironment through molecules such as Ccl2, Gbp5, MMP11, TNN. This ultimately results in abnormal astrocyte proliferation and migration. Mediators and predictors of disengagement and attrition can be helpful tailoring variables in an API to trigger change to the intervention. To evaluate the feasibility of using CT perfusion (CTP) with increased temporal sampling interval to predict the target mismatch status in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with anterior circular large-vessel occlusion (LVO).

) was scanned in 77 AIS patients for pre-treatment evaluation. Simulated CTP data with sampling interval of 3.4s (CTP

) were reconstructed, respectively. Target mismatch was defined according to the EXTEND-IA (Extending the Time for Thrombolysis in Emergency Neurological Deficits-Intra-Arterial) and DEFUSE 3 (Endovascular Therapy Following Imaging Evaluation for Ischemic Stroke) trial criteria, respectively. Pearson correlation analysis, Mann-Whitney U test, Bland-Altman analysis, and chi-square test were used for statistical analysis as appropriate.

The identification in murine bone marrow (BM) of CD133 + /Lin-/CD45- cells, possessing several features of pluripotent stem cells, encouraged us to investigate if similar population of cells could be also isolated from the swine BM. Heart failure is the terminal stage of many cardiovascular diseases, and its key pathological basis is cardiac fibrosis (CF). Research showed that stem cell derived exosomes may play a critical role in cardiac fibrosis. The effect of exosomes (Exos) on CF has remained unclear.

In recent years, there have been increasing calls for community-based participatory research (CBPR) and patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR), as such types of research hold much potential for identifying interventions to reduce health and health care disparities. Yet, little is known about the research training, knowledge, experience, and even interest of CHWs in these types of research or in health research in general (HR). Thus, the purposes of this study include determining if there are differences between participating CHWs (N = 202) in their levels of training, knowledge, experience, and interest in relation to CBPR, PCOR and HR.
