A near-infrared nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon dot (N,S-CD)-based ratiometric fluorescent probe is proposed that is synthesized via hydrothermal approach using glutathione and formamide as precursor for sensing and imaging of Zn2+. The prepared N,S-CDs facilitate binding with Zn2+ owing to N and S atom doping. The ratio (I650/I680) of fluorescence intensity at 650 nm and 680 nm increased with the concentrations of Zn2+ when the excitation wavelength was 415 nm. The linearity range was 0.01 to 1.0 μM Zn2+with a detection limit of 5.0 nM Zn2+. The proposed probe was applied to label-free monitoring of Zn2+ in real samples and fluorescent imaging of Zn2+ in living cells, which confirmed its promising applications.
The overall objective of this study was to assess how metal artefacts impact image quality of 13 CBCT devices. As a secondary objective, the influence of scanning protocols and field of view on CBCT image quality with and without metal artefacts was also assessed.
CBCT images were acquired of a dry human skull phantom considering three clinical simulated conditions one without metal and two with metallic materials (metallic pin and implant). An industrial micro-CT was used as a reference to register the CBCT images. Afterwards, four observers evaluated 306 representative image slices from 13 devices, ranking them from best to worst. Furthermore, within each device, medium FOV and small FOV standard images were compared. General linear mixed models were used to assess subjective perception of examiners on overall image quality in the absence and presence of metal-related artefacts (p < 0.05).
Image quality perception significantly differed amongst CBCT devices (p < 0.05). Some devices performed significantly better, independently of scanning protocol and clinical condition. In the presence of metal artefacts, medium FOV standard scanning protocols scored significantly better, while in the absence of metal, small FOV standard yielded the highest performance.
Subjective image quality differs significantly amongst CBCT devices and scanning protocols. Metal-related artefacts may highly impact image quality, with a significant device-dependent variability and only few scanners being more robust against metal artefacts. Often, metal artefact expression may be somewhat reduced by proper protocol selection.

To evaluate the influence of the composite resin translucency used in direct anatomic fiber posts on the bond strength (BS) and microhardness (VHN) of a luting agent into flared roots.
The root canals of 70 single-rooted premolars were endodontically treated and prepared to simulate an oversized root canal. Prior to post cementation, composite resins with varying translucency (high translucent, HT; medium translucent, MT; high opacity, HO) were placed around the fiber posts to create anatomic fiber posts. The attenuation profile (%) of light passing either through the post or through the anatomic posts (n = 8) was obtained prior to the cementing procedures. A positive control group (PC) in which a prefabricated fiber post (PFP) with the diameter compatible with the root canal was cemented and a poorly adapted fiber post (negative control group, NC) were also evaluated. For both tests, the data were subjected to 2-way ANOVA and Bonferroni tests (α = 0.05).

The SPCE was successively decorated with aminated graphene (NH2-G) and gold nanobipyramids (AuNBs) for signal amplification. Then 4-mercaptophenylboric acid (4-MPBA) was covalently anchored to the surface of AuNBs for capturing anti-IgG template through boronate affinity binding. The decorated SPCE was then deposited with an imprinting layer generated by the electropolymerization of pyrrole. After removal of the anti-IgG template by the dissociation of the boronate ester in an acidic solution, three-dimensional (3D) cavities complementary to the anti-IgG template were formed in the imprinting layer of polypyrrole (PPy). The molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP)-based biosensor was used for the detection of anti-IgG, exhibiting a wide linear range from 0.05 to 100 ng mL-1 and a low limit of detection of 0.017 ng mL-1 (S/N = 3). In addition, the MIP-based anti-IgG biosensor also shows high selectivity, reproducibility and stability. Finally, the practicability of the fabricated anti-IgG biosensor was demonstrated by accurate determination of anti-IgG in serum sample.
To identify PanNEN imaging features associated with tumor grade and aggressive histopathological features.
Associations between histopathological and imaging features of resected PanNEN were retrospectively tested. Histopathologic features included WHO grade, lymphovascular invasion (LVI), growth pattern (infiltrative, circumscribed), and intratumoral fibrosis (mature, immature). The overexpression of aquaporin-1 (AQP1) is associated with poor prognosis in rectal cancer. This study aimed to explore the value of multi-parameter diffusion and perfusion MRI and radiomics models in predicting AQP1 high expression.
This prospective study was performed from July 2019 to February 2021, which included rectal cancer participants after preoperative rectal MRI, with diffusion-weighted imaging, intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM), diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI), and dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) sequences. Radiomic features were extracted from MR images, and immunohistochemical tests assessed AQP1 expression. Selected quantitative MRI and radiomic features were analyzed. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves evaluated the predictive performance. The nomogram performance was evaluated by its calibration, discrimen, and clinical utility. The intraclass correlation coefficient evaluated the interobserver agreement for the MRI features.
