Sport-related concussion is a public concern with between 1.6 and 3.8 million sport- and recreation-related injuries occurring annually. An estimated 65% to 90% of concussed athletes show oculomotor disruption such as difficulty with saccades, accommodation, smooth pursuit, and fixation. A rapid number-naming saccade test, the King-Devick (K-D) test, has shown promising results as part of a multifaceted concussion assessment tool.
The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the two versions of the K-D in collegiate aged (18-24) athletes to determine the agreement between versions. A secondary purpose was to investigate the association of K-D scores with sport, sex, use of glasses or contacts, and age of the athlete.
Descriptive laboratory study.
Division 1 NCAA collegiate athletes across ten sports were recruited to participate in baseline concussion assessments at the beginning of their respective athletic season. Correlations and multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to investigais study supports the use of either version of the K-D test as a potential part of a multifaceted concussion assessment. The age of the athlete influences scores and therefore a K-D baseline should be repeated annually for collegiate athletes. Clinicians should not substitute K-D versions (computer vs. paper) in comparing baseline to a post-concussion K-D score as the scores are quite different.

Low back pain is believed to be a common complaint among dancers; however, a comparison across recent research is needed to support or disprove this assertion across genres.
To determine the prevalence of low back pain and low back injury in ballet, modern, and hip-hop dancers through a systematic literature review. A secondary goal was to identify trends amongst dance genres, level of mastery, gender, and age, if possible.
Systematic Review of the Literature.
PRISMA search strategy of terms relating to dance and low back pain was conducted within the Pubmed, MEDLINE, SPORTDiscus, Web of Science, and the archives of the Journal of Dance Medicine and Science databases between November 2017 and March 2018. Inclusion criteria were published articles that addressed low back pain or injury in ballet, modern, or hip-hop dance population. Exclusion criteria included studies relating to specific pathologies or studies that did not report specific dance genre. All included articles were assessed for quality ussions about modern dancers or hip-hop dancers and their risk for low back pain/injury currently. Future higher-level studies are needed with reduced risk of bias.

Reviews on superior labral anterior to posterior (SLAP) injuries have been reported in the literature. However, current reviews have not focused on the success of athletes return to their previous level of sport or athletic performance.
Systematically review return to sport (RTS) and return to sport at previous level (RTSP) proportions after SLAP injury while reporting any additional performance metrics and outcome measures.
Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis.
A computer assisted literature search of MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase and SportDiscus databases utilizing keywords related to RTS post-surgery for SLAP tear was implemented. The
guidelines were utilized for study methodology. Quality assessment utilized the MINORS scale.
Twenty-two studies (617 athletes) qualified for analysis. Based on limited evidence from level 3b to 4 studies, athletes RTS post intervention for SLAP injury occurred at a rate of 93% (95% CI87 to 98%) and overall RTSP rate was 72% (95% CI60 to 83%). The mean time to RTS post intervention was reported in 59% of studies at 6.9 ± 2.9 months. Patient reported outcome measures (PROM's) were reported in 86% of studies. There was limited reporting of performance statistics, rehabilitation guidelines, return to sport criteria, and information regarding SLAP diagnosis in the available studies. None of the included studies reported post-surgical athletic performance or career longevity.
Limited evidence suggests that less than three in four athletes return to their previous level of sport participation after SLAP injury intervention. Treatment success for an athlete with SLAP injury remains relatively unknown as only 59% of included studies clearly delineate RTS from RTSP and neither athletic performance nor career longevity were reported in any included studies. Future studies of higher quality are required for this determination.

Adolescent athletes are experiencing an increased number of concussions. There is currently a debate within the medical community regarding the most effective and safe treatment approach for this population, post-concussion. Interventions currently range from cognitive and physical rest to various types of physical activity, including aerobic exercise. While there are systematic reviews that focus on rest as the main intervention, there are no other systematic reviews that focus on the effects of aerobic exercise on concussion recovery in adolescent athletes.
The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the effectiveness of aerobic exercise on concussion recovery for adolescent athletes compared to an alternate intervention.
Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
A computer-based search (

non-aerobic interventions,
symptom severity and recovery time) was performed. Databases including PubMed, CINAHL, SPORTdiscusnd recovery time.
The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis indicate that there is currently moderately significant evidence in support of implementing an aerobic exercise program for adolescent athletes with both acute and prolonged recovery concussion symptoms. Additional higher quality studies are needed to continue to study the effectiveness of aerobic exercise in post-concussion treatment of adolescents.

1a.Objective To systematically review the literature on weight management pharmaceutical use in patients who have had bariatric surgery. Methods Google Scholar, Pubmed, Cochrane, Embase, Web of Science, and Clinical Trials were searched from inception to December 31st, 2018 inclusive. Results Thirteen studies met inclusion and reported decreases in weight with the use of weight management medications in post-bariatric surgical patients. Five studies examined weight loss outcomes by the type of bariatric surgery procedure, and four of these studies observed less weight loss in patients who had undergone gastric sleeve compared to those who had roux-en-y bypass (n = 3 papers) and adjustable gastric banding (n = 1 paper) with medication use. Four studies compared the effectiveness of medications for weight management and observed slightly greater weight loss with the use of topiramate and phentermine as a monotherapy compared to other weight loss medications. Using a sub-sample of participants, authors observed less weight loss on metformin but not phentermine or topiramate for younger adults. Another post-hoc analysis in the same sample observed greater weight loss for older adults with liraglutide 1.8 mg. Side effects were reported in seven studies and were overall consistent with those previously reported in non-surgical populations. Conclusion Results of this systematic review suggest pharmacotherapy may be an effective tool as an adjunct to diet and physical activity to support weight loss in post-bariatric surgery patients. However, due to most studies lacking a control or placebo group, more rigorous research is required to determine the efficacy of this intervention.Nodular fasciitis (NF) is an uncommon and benign tumour-like fibroblastic proliferation that is difficult to distinguish from sarcoma both clinically and histologically. In addition, it is a type of lesion characterised by having a potential for spontaneous regression. NF is frequently misdiagnosed due to its rapid growth, rich cellularity, and mitotic figure. Although NF is only rarely diagnosed in children, the head and neck represent the most common locations for NF among this population. The cause of NF remains unknown, however trauma is believed to be an important triggering factor. We describe an unusual case of NF in the posterior ethmoid sinus in a six-year-old boy with no history of trauma. The NF was incidentally noted on a computed tomography scan after the patient complained of a squint. The diagnosis of NF was also supported by histopathology and specific immunohistological staining. A surgical biopsy was performed, and no recurrence was observed after one year.Histopathologically adult extracardiac rhabdomyoma is a benign tumour of mature striated muscle. It is a slow- growing tumour with predilection to occur in head and neck region. They appear mainly as a solitary lesion, and about 15% of them can be multicentric. A 56-year-old man presented to us with the floor of mouth swelling persisted for one year and the right neck swelling for three years mimicking a plunging ranula. Radiological imaging revealed enhancing mass at the floor of mouth and submandibular region. The mass represented a nonvascular benign tumour. Subsequently, the patient underwent excision of the mass via transcervical and transoral method. Histopathological examination revealed adult type of extracardiac rhabdomyoma. Adult type of extracardiac rhabdomyoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis for the head and neck masses. A complete excision will reduce the risk of recurrence.Takotsubo syndrome is a rare disease and remained ambiguous with its etiology. The disease manifests in various clinical characteristics and even mimicking acute coronary syndrome. We are reporting a case of an elderly lady who manifested by unsteady gaits and recurrent falls. Subacute infarct of the right corona radiata was observed on the brain CT. In addition, coronary angiography and ventriculogram were performed because of dynamic ECG changes and elevated troponin I levels. The angiogram was normal while ventriculogram showed apical ballooning. She was diagnosed and treated as Takotsubo syndrome.Congenital esophageal stenosis (CES) is a rare congenital disorder which may be isolated or associated with esophageal atresia (EA). It courses with esophageal outflow tract obstruction. Esophageal epiphrenic diverticulae are esophageal outpouchings above diaphragm which develop because of an underlying esophageal motor disorder. We present an infant who had CES associated with EA detected during the course of routine follow-up. However, an epiphrenic diverticulum (ED) developed during the course of treatment which was detected by further investigations. A surgical excision was performed with a successful outcome. An ED developed secondary to CES has not been previously reported.
