The upgrade of an item can be used to improve the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.
Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item is upgraded, its basic stats increase in value. This is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the variety of perks that have to be modified to upgrade an item.
The level of an item is a popular measurement of power and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at a lower level. Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment, players can compare the item level. It's a good indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it's capable of causing. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when examining the inventory of a seller.
On your PC, you can see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be located by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are several theories on how the item level calculation is made. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in the sockets boost the value of the item. This can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real item level.
However, this is not the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the region the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, such as by adding an amount to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major part of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification which are then enhanced by the player's level.
The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded once, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at higher costs.
Another method of altering the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes could do things like give the item additional damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding an exclusive name to the item.
Currently, linked internet site can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using the arrows that circle. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other rerolling methods.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat in that range unless they are a unique item, or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another thing that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. But as with base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is especially beneficial for early game runs, because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, armor, and shields can be created or spawned using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.
Additionally there are certain items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available at the store or crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade fails.
When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..
The success of an upgrade is also affected by the luck of the item. All items have a success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
