World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The item upgrade lets players increase an item's gear rating up to 700 points and add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory before heading to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading due to their unique stats. (For instance, a perfectly roll breakpoint armor is used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade and aren't worth the effort.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. Some weapons also come with a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a group. In some instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon can sustain by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the gun will increase until it requires a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgrades to weapons also reroll the stats of their base. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative effects. Upgrades can render items unusable, unless you are extremely lucky.
Armor items can also be upgraded to increase their stats. This will increase the base defense of a helm or chest as well as belts and gloves. These will boost their required strength and agility. Armor also offers the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it may change its roll to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain when upgraded and their respective values. This means that an upgrade from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving an attack damage of 3. However the 3% does not mean that it will be hit for 3 times less often as it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button that has circling arrows in the item menu. This will reroll an item and change its statistics, but not reset the weapon's levels or tie it to the account status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make a huge differences in your ability to endure. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which makes traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the greater defense you have for your character, the greater health you'll gain from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a specific side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each level will differ. In general, you're looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. For example the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep up with a decent-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold conditions and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, granting you enough protection to withstand the full-on assault with a few of your friends.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll need to focus on upgrading it for physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still wear by the end of the story, like the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. Generally speaking, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have a few upgrades to your helmets and chest armor that allow you to stealth around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by the player, provide a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five kinds of potions, each with specific effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, increasing their effectiveness. Alternatively, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP, which can be earned by making them using a craft table or in an chest of the Alchemist. However, the upgrade price changes depending on what type of potion you'd like to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level as well as its rarity.
To upgrade a potions simply right-click on it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI where you can choose the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will produce when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a time and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP total.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it's stored in. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few changes to the way potions are used. Splash potions, for example, now have a duration 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display for the item. The table of potion constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It can be utilized in both Survival and Bedrock. Unlike the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions are not able to be combined in cauldrons. Similarly, using a potion on a full cauldron, it drains the liquid and refills the bottle.
Lastly, there are now lingering potions, which are made with splash and dragon breath potions. In the same way, a lingering potion effect can be extended by adding redstone to it. The potion table is now arranged more like the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as potion of leaping, decomposition potion, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket can be a small, inexpensive ornament or piece jewelry. It can be a reference to an object or decoration that serves a purpose, but isn't particularly significant like a trinket. In some cultures, a trinket is used to signify friendship or affection, especially between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Unlike other item upgrades trinkets, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their status.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone and in some cases in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to purchasing a new trinket. It is possible to upgrade a player for less than 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the previous trinket however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Once the old Trinkets are no longer useful they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase both their power and value over time. They can be traded between players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most essential items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, followed by their secondaries, and finally other gear items that will not be replaced in the near future (for instance rings or cloaks). When deciding on which items to upgrade, players should also consider their class's preferred statistics. For example If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tankers, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they are no longer useful, and the new trinket will receive an additional 1% upgrade bonus. However, a re-upgrade is likely to ruin the previous trinket, unless it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than purchasing a new one.
