World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The item upgrade lets players increase an item's gear rating up 700 points, and then give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the Kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For instance an excellently rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons don't change much after an upgrade and therefore aren't worth it.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats like the chance to crit, attack damage, PvE and PvP damage. They also have a flat bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. A lot of weapons also have a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a group. This bonus could be greater than the damage that an upgrade alone can cause.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and level. For example, an +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a gun will increase until it requires a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. This is generally a positive factor, but it could also have negative effects. For items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance) upgrading them could render them useless unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.
Items of armor can also be upgraded to boost their performance. This will increase the base defense of a helm or chest as well as belts and gloves. These will boost their required strength and agility. Armor also offers a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it may reroll to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain when upgrading, as well as the relative values of those stats. This means that a change from a sword with 8 damage to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining 3% of attack damage. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button in the item menu with the circling arrows. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats, but not reset the weapon's level or tie it to the account status.
Armor
A few tweaks to your armor can make huge differences in your capacity to withstand. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE improvements in the resistance to curses, poisons fire, magic, and other. This makes it easier to get through difficult terrains. In general, the more defense you can offer your character, the more health you'll gain from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four in total, and each requires you to complete a special side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees required to complete each level will differ. You'll require anything from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which allows you to keep up in frigid conditions with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded to +20 defense to ensure you're able to withstand a rout with your comrades.
You can't upgrade armor like weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or spell power. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear for the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also unlock some advantages to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. You'll typically want to keep these upgrades to the weapon that you'll use to beat the game. For example, the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have a few upgrades to the helmets and chest armor to allow you to sneak around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, provide a temporary effect. There are five different types of potions, each with a specific set of effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, enhancing their level of effect. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP, which can be earned by making them on a table or in an Alchemist's chest. However, the cost of upgrading is dependent on the kind of potion you wish to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI where you can select the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total amount of XP you have.
Once a potion has been upgraded, it won't degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to change its name.
There were a few updates to the mechanics of potions in version 1.7.2. Splash potions for instance, now have a duration 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display of the item. The potion table is constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It is now able to be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. The same applies to using a potion in a cauldron that is full. This will deplete the potion, and refill the bottle.
In addition, there are lingering potions, which are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can be added to lingering potions to extend their effect. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added such as potion of leaping, decomposition potion, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is an ornament that is small and inexpensive or piece jewelry. It can be a reference to an object or ornament that serves a purpose but is not particularly important, such as a tiny thimble. In some cultures a trinket is a way to express affection or friendship between family members.
Players can upgrade trinkets as well as weapons, armor, and potions. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Trinkets like other items that can be upgraded can be swapped at will without losing stats.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to buying a brand new trinket. One can upgrade a trinket with as little 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the old trinket, but it also comes with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded once the old ones are not needed and allows players to increase their power and worth over time. They can be traded between players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
In general players should upgrade their most important items first. This means that the most-important slot items for each class are first upgraded, followed by their secondary gear and finally other pieces of equipment they won't be replacing anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when deciding the items to upgrade. For instance If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tankers, they should be focusing on upgrading their helm, chest shoulders, belt, and chest.
After they've become unusable trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket has an additional 1% bonus. However, upgrade item -upgrade will cause the trinket to be destroyed until it is salvaged using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than purchasing an entirely new trinket.
