World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to boost the gear score of an item to 700 and also add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you decide to take them to the Kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like an ideally broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while others like weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. Additionally some weapons come with an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a unit. This bonus can sometimes be greater than the damage that a weapon upgrade can do on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it is required to use an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons also reroll the stats of the base. While this is usually beneficial but it can also have negative consequences as well. Upgrades can render items impossible to use, unless you are exceptionally lucky.
Armor items can also be upgraded to increase their stats. In the case of a helm or chest, it will boost its base defense while gloves and belts will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may roll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats that it will get when upgraded, along with their relative values. This means that a change from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving 3% of attack damage. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will be hit for 3 times less often, since it is an absolute statistic.
Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button within the item menu with the circling arrows. This will roll the item and alter its stats however, it will not reset the weapon's level nor tie it to the account status.
Armor
A few upgrades to your armor can make a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive boosts to poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, making traversing tough areas a breeze. The more defense your character has the more value you can get from every point of health, so it's important to improve your armor as often as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a unique side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and mastered the fountain in question and then you can talk to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. In general, you'll need at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For example the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep pace with a decent-sized group of adversaries in most cold conditions, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, granting you enough protection to survive the full-on assault with a few of your friends.
You can't upgrade armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or spell power. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear to fight the final boss and the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also gain advantages to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have some improvements to the helmets and chest armor that let you stealthy battle some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed give the user the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five types of potions, each having a specific set of effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
Potion upgrades require a certain amount XP. This can be earned by crafting them on a table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest. The cost of upgrading varies based on the type of potion as well as the item's Rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potions, right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from item upgrades . This opens an GUI where you can select the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they will produce when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total amount of XP you have.
When a poton is upgraded in quality, it will not deteriorate in the event that you take it out again or break the bottle within the container it is kept. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change its name.
Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the way potions are used. For example, splash potions now have a duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds shown on the item hover display). The table for potion is constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. Similarly, using a potion on a full cauldron drains the potion and replenishes the bottle.
In addition, there are lingering potions that are made with dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone can also be added to potions that are lingering to increase their effect. The potion table has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions are also added, like the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket is a tiny and cheap ornament or piece of jewelry. It may be a reference to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose, but is not particularly significant, such as a tiny thimble. In certain cultures, a trinket can be used to show affection or friendship between family members.
Trinkets can be upgraded by players as well as weapons, armor, and potions. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their status.
The upgrade vendors can be found in major cities and in the capital of each zone, and in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to purchasing a new trinket. A player can upgrade their trinket for as little 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the previous trinket but will also have an additional 1% bonus upgrade.
Once the old Trinkets are not usable they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded between players, making them an alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most essential items first. This means that the best-in slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear and finally other pieces of equipment they won't replace in the near future (such as a ring or an cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade, players should also take into account the preferred statistics of their class. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players then they should consider upgrading their chest, helm, and shoulders.
Once they have become useless, trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket has an additional bonus of 1. A re-upgrade, however, will destroy the trinket unless it can be salvaged using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than buying new ones.
