Item upgrading allows players to increase an item's gear score up to 700 and add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory before heading to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading due to their distinctive stats. (For example an excellently rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't really change after an upgrade and therefore aren't worth the cost.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats like damage to attack, crit chance PvE and PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. A lot of weapons also come with a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a unit. This bonus can sometimes exceed the damage that an upgrade alone can cause.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is contingent on its rarity as well as its current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue rise until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons will also reroll the stats of the base. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative consequences. For items that only see use in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can render them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.

Armor also has an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it may roll back to a lower number.

The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will get when upgraded in addition to their respective values. This means that a weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will be hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.

A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button, which is accompanied by arrows that circle in the menu for items. The item will be rerolled and change its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's levels or connect to the status of your account.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make all the difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which can make traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the greater defense you have on your character, the more health you will gain from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game and in order to unlock each fountain, you have to complete an additional quest involving the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor is different. It is possible to use anything from three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, as an example, can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in frigid conditions with a lot of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded to +20 defense so that you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.

Potions

Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. Also, putting a potion on a full cauldron, it drains the liquid and replenishes the bottle.

Finally, there are lingering potions, which are made with dragon breath and splash potions. Similarly, a lingering potions can be enhanced by adding redstone. The potion table is now organized more closely to the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as the potion of leaping and the decomposition potion, as well as turtle master potions.

Trinkets

Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to buying a brand new trinket. A player can upgrade a trinket with as little 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same base level as the previous trinket but it also comes with an additional 1% bonus upgrade.

Once the old Trinkets are not usable they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase both their power and value over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.

Players should upgrade their most important items first. This means that the most-important slot items for each class are first upgraded before their secondary gear and other equipment that they won't be replacing in the near future (such as rings or cloaks). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when deciding the items to upgrade. For example when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should be focusing on upgrading their helm, chest, shoulders, and belt.

Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher ilvl once they no longer have value, and the new trinket will receive an additional 1% upgrade bonus. However, a re-upgrade can ruin the previous trinket in the event that it is not saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still less expensive than buying the new one.
