Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade equipment due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to armor and weapon items. They improve the stats of the item they are connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon will absorb is contingent on the extent of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be more heavy.

There are a variety of armor upgrade available in the game. Each has a different impact. For instance, some upgrades will give the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require charges for use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are constantly updated or never expire depending on the upgrade.


The cheapest method of upgrading armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the environment and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however it is obtainable from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can give a significant boost in stats, and are well worth the investment.

A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will greatly increase its defense capabilities but the wearer must be aware that putting on weight can drastically decrease its speed and agility. Therefore, it is not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces above +9, since the added defense is usually not worth the additional weight and power cost of the upgrades needed.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of weapon upgrades require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by finishing side quests, killing a certain number of bosses or monsters, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price of a set number of Bars. You can still do this however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. You should consider buying equipment with minimal upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a better likelihood of granting you most prestigious tier of advantages and benefits.

To improve their skills faster, most players will prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will increase its utility when paired with biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. They can be created through a process called jewelry crafting, where you combine a gem with various ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the level of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The quality of a gem can be improved upon by the Jeweler, with stages that range from Crude to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ according to the tier that the jewel is at when it's inserted into jewelry, weapons or gear.

The Jeweler can craft the highest levels of gems apart from the rare and legendary ones that you must be at certain levels to gain. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without destroying the original. However it is only possible to replace one jewel in an item of equipment once.

It is normal to use more gems for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than metal, so repeated friction with pivots doesn't damage them as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be taken out from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as aegis or traits cannot be swapped, and can only be found through an upgrade extractor or salvaging using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to provide your hero with many small, but valuable, advantages. You can find them in the starter area as loot or as personal story rewards. They are also available from vendors and by doing road interaction. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket that a player can unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but valuable boost in speed of movement and evasion. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar manner to the way a player can acquire weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows the hero to be more effective when not active, and can also help to compensate for the absence of a strong team or any slots from the talent tree which would normally be filled with hero's ideal statistics.

A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item that is being upgraded. This is true especially if you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It is more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat than two less important ones.

In the beginning of the game junglers will usually want to upgrade their trinket into a red one, while top and mid players typically choose the pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). item upgrade will have a significant impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

Apart from the items listed above, players can find other trinkets throughout the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story, for instance completing a chapter's main quest or destroying a boss.
