Upgrades to items allow players to increase the item level of items that can be equipped, such as weapons, armor, and trinkets above a certain threshold. You can upgrade item s at any NPC that accepts the appropriate currency.

Costs

Upgrades can boost the physical power of gear as well as its spell power and health (for rings and armor) or add a bonus effect to it when it is in your inventory. You can obtain upgrade elements through crafting or buy them from vendors. You can also loot them or drop them from other players or get them as a reward. Before you make a decision it is important to consider the costs involved in upgrading an item. Spend your gold on rare items and not on items of the standard or magic tier. Upgrades to these items can waste precious resources, and you'll soon discover that rare equipment is superior to them.

It's best to upgrade your equipment as soon as you can, because upgrades will become more costly in time. If you can't afford the upgrade costs it's best to wait. This will allow you to increase your chances of success in the game.
