From October 2017 to October 2018, a qualitative exploratory study was carried out based on six case studies recovered from previous research. Medical records were analyzed and semi-structured interviews were conducted with the professionals involved. Among the principal results, we found that the definition of erratic clinical trajectories formulated was not very descriptive of the course of some cases, leading us to propose a new concept, that of the segment (el tramo). This concept accounts for the moment in which the clinical trajectory is sustained, even if that entails switching to a different health service. With respect to objectives and therapeutic strategies, we found a clear difficulty on the part of professionals to name and describe them. Lastly, we found alarmingly little systematization of in-hospital referrals among mental health treatment teams, compared to clinical medical consultations and referrals to other health care providers.This paper presents a linguistic and interpretative analysis of the use of conceptual metaphors in the field of mental health, taking as a field of observation the use of Twitter in the first edition of Mad Pride Day in Spain, held on May 20, 2018. The objective is to give a first-person account of the attitudes expressed by activists. The results show a questioning of the coercive logics produced by psychiatric care, a problematization of the hegemonic model as a whole, a criticism of the oppression implied by stigma, communication problems with professionals in the field of mental health, as well as demands for greater dialogue with them. A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted that included a sample of 10 schools in 2013 and 10 different schools in 2018. A survey of school lunch programs and 24-hour nutrition reminders was carried out with 341 children. The nutritional value of school lunch programs decreased over the study period, particularly among schools in contexts of greater social vulnerability. Significant reductions in average calcium and energy intake were also observed. Indicators of chronic malnutrition, overweight, and excess calcium and vitamin A and C intakes worsened among children attending school lunch programs. Regarding the association between school lunch program attendance and low height for age/risk of low height for age, the odds ratio was not statistically significant. We argue for the necessity of promoting policies that seek urgent improvements in child nutritional indicators from a rights-based perspective.This article analyzes the psychiatric medicalization of women in three Brazilian women's prisons, from the fields of mental health, the anthropology of confinement, and gender studies. A qualitative study employing ethnographic methods was carried out from October 2006 to February 2007, which included participant observation, informal conversations, semi-structured interviews, and life histories. Understood as a state device of power, psychiatric medicalization processes are marked by three itineraries the mass criminalization of women, pathologization of women's crimes, and psychiatric pharmaceuticalization (especially through the administration of psychoactive drugs). These processes thus establish a vicious cycle that perpetuates or produces the disorders that psychiatry seeks to heal and enables the continuity of drug use (illicit-licit-illicit) and its ties to the illegal drug market, while highlighting how gender - in its intersections with other categories of differentiation - influences the production of mental illnesses, which must be treated as a public health problem that extends beyond the walls of women's prisons.In Argentina, the presence of diabetes and other chronic diseases among indigenous populations has not yet been sufficiently studied. This article is the result of an ethnographic study of the sociocultural and gender determinants that are involved in diabetes care and prevention processes among the Tapiete people in the province of Salta. The research combined participant observation and interviews both with adult men and women diagnosed with diabetes and with nurses and doctors at a primary care center in Misión Los Tapietes and at a hospital in Tartagal between August and September of 2019. The growing presence of diabetes has been observed in the community, along with a lack of articulation of social and health interventions with native practices of health-disease-care, as well as problems in communicating diagnosis and treatment options, intensified by difficulties regarding access to the healthcare system. The article examines the complexity of the epidemiological transition, meanings of chronic disease for men and women, the traumatic emergence of diabetes, and difficulties in exercising the right to health among indigenous populations.
