13 Things About Item Upgrader You May Not Have Known
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Upgrades to gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all the upgraded benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.

It can also be used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is limited to a lower level). The average level of an item is listed on the character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item can help players compare the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a measure of the item's damage and its quality. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

On PC, you are able to see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full description of the item, as well as its value. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is determined by a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats really are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This can lead to a calculated item's ilvl that is typically very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

It's not the only thing that affects the value of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may change its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant part of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat mods which are then boosted by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items additional damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to differentiate them by naming them.

At present, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are an exclusive item, or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. Similar to the base equipment, this would have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in early game runs as opposed to later ones, because most players value greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading which increases with each level and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) for a further +40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any skill that causes damage by 5%. These items are available in the shop or created using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are expensive and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their items if it does not work.

The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail can't be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item can influence the success of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be masked by them. If item upgrading wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
