943). A significant decline in SMD was observed across the first 3 wk of ICU admission (P < .001). Overall, patients received a mean 24 ± 6 kcal energy/kg and 1.1 ± 0.4 g protein/kg per study day and 83% of energy and protein requirements according to dietitian estimates. No association between SMA or SMD changes and nutrition delivery were found.
Critically ill patients experience marked losses of SMA over the first month of critical illness, attenuated after wk 5 to 7. Energy and protein delivery were not associated with degree of muscle loss.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the agreement between bioelectrical impedance spectroscopy (BIS) and dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) for assessment of body composition in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
We performed cross-sectional and prospective analyses by DXA and BIS in whole body (BISWB) and segmental (BISSEG) protocols in CKD non-dialysis-dependent (n=81), hemodialysis (n=83), peritoneal dialysis (n=24), and renal transplantation (n=80) patients. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Bland-Altman plots were evaluated. Linear regression analysis was performed for bias assessment and development of equations. Receiver operating characteristics curve was constructed for diagnosis of inadequate error tolerance (DXA - BIS >±2kg).
The agreement with DXA was greater for BISWB than BISSEG; for fat mass (FM; ICC men=0.894; women=0.931) than fat-free mass (FFM; ICC men=0.566; women=0.525), with greater bias for FFM as muscle increases and for FM in body fat extremes. The ath caution in overhydration patients with ECW/ICW ≥ 0.7250. The newly developed equations are indicated for greater precision.Four oil spill events over the Indian Ocean including Chennai, Sharjah, Al Khiran and Mubarak Village are analyzed using Sentinel-1 satellite data. General National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Operational Modeling Environment (GNOME) model is utilized for oil spills trajectory production, whereas oil spills weathering processes are modeled using Automated Data Inquiry for Oil Spill (ADIOS). Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) based oil spill detection technique provided reliable results at the wind speed between 3 to 9 m/s for all events. Maximum oil spill movement (33 km) from the source point is observed in the Al Khiran, whereas evaporation rate of crude (degraded) oil is observed as high (low). The Near Real Time (NRT) detection of oil spill using SAR imagery needs high computational power, however, provides better results. This study concludes that SAR based oil spill detection is a cost-effective technique and can be utilized for mapping of oil spills.Canine babesiosis due to Babesia gibsoni (B. gibsoni) displays severe clinical manifestations. Recurrence of babesiosis after anti-babesial treatment is observable in over 10 % of the patients. The present study ascertains the risk factors and cumulative incidence of recurrence of canine babesiosis. For a sample of 145 dogs diagnosed with acute babesiosis, the following parameters were assessed over a period of 16 weeks haematological parameters, status of anaemia, platelet count, total WBC count, haemoglobin concentration and RBC count, concurrent haemoparasitism, and secondary immune mediated haemolytic anaemia (IMHA). Patient demographics such as age, breed, sex were also recorded. The potential risk factors were statistically evaluated by the cumulative incidence function and the Kaplan-Meier method. The recurrent infections were observed in 11.8 % of the study sample. The following factors were found to associate with increased risk of recurrence Rottweiler breed (CIR 21.8 % ± 6.9 %; p less then 0.05), secondary IMHA (CIR 28.7 % ± 11.3 %; p less then 0.05), RBC counts less then 2 × 106/μl on the day of diagnosis (CIR 16 % ± 4.6 %; p less then 0.05), and persistent anaemia over 20 days post treatment (CIR 29.14 ± 7.9 %; p less then 0.001). Dogs with concurrent haemoparasitic infections were predicted to have a fatal outcome in the survival analysis (disease related mortalities 25 % ± 13 %; p less then 0.001). According to the findings, veterinarians need to pay attention to Rottweiler breed, dogs with secondary IMHA, concurrent haemoparasitism, low RBC counts on diagnosis and those with persistent anaemia to reduce the risk of relapse.Previous studies suggested that egocentric and allocentric spatial representations are supported by neural networks in the occipito-parietal (dorsal) and occipito-temporal (ventral) streams, respectively. The present study aimed to explore the integrity of ego- and allo-centric spatial representations in a patient (GP) who presented bilateral occipito-parietal damage consistent with the picture of a Bálint-like syndrome. GP and healthy controls were asked to provide memory-based spatial judgments on triads of objects after a short (1.5sec) or long (5sec) delay. The results showed that GP's performance was selectively impaired in the Ego/1.5sec delay condition. As a whole, our findings suggest that GP's spared ventral stream could generate short- and long-term allocentric representations. Furthermore, the stored perceptual representation processed within the ventral stream might have been used to generate long-term egocentric representation. Conversely, the generation of short-term egocentric representation appeared to be selectively undermined by the damage of the dorsal stream. The anticipation of upcoming events is a key-feature of cognition. Previous investigations on anticipatory visuospatial attention mainly adopted transient and-more rarely-sustained tasks, whose main difference consists in the presence of transient or sustained cue stimuli and different involvement of top-down or bottom-up forms of attention. In particular, while top-down control has been suggested to drive sustained attention, it is not clear whether both endogenous and exogenous controls are recruited in transient attention task, or whether the cue-evoked attention may be interpreted as a mainly bottom-up guided process. To solve this issue, the present study focused on the preparatory brain activity of participants performing a sustained and a transient attention task. To this aim, the focus was on pre-stimulus event-related potential (ERP) components, i.e., the prefrontal negativity (pN) and the visual negativity (vN), associated with cognitive and sensorial preparation, emerging from prefrontal and visual areas, respectively.
