PDAC remains a tumor entity with poor prognosis and a 5-year survival rate below 10%. Recent research has revealed invasive biomarkers, such as distinct molecular subtypes, predictive for therapy response and patient survival. Non-invasive prediction of individual patient outcome however remains an unresolved task.
Discrete cellularity regions of PDAC resection specimen (
= 43) were analyzed by routine histopathological work up. Regional tumor cellularity and CT-derived Hounsfield Units (HU,
= 66) as well as iodine concentrations were regionally matched. One-way ANOVA and pairwise t-tests were performed to assess the relationship between different cellularity level in conventional, virtual monoenergetic 40 keV (monoE 40 keV) and iodine map reconstructions.
A statistically significant negative correlation between regional tumor cellularity in histopathology and CT-derived HU from corresponding image regions was identified. Radiological differentiation was best possible in monoE 40 keV CT images. However, HU values differed significantly in conventional reconstructions as well, indicating the possibility of a broad clinical application of this finding.

In this study we establish a novel method for CT-based prediction of tumor cellularity for in-vivo tumor characterization in PDAC patients.This paper proposes an original model of a polarimetric current sensor, in which the measuring coil was made of a single mode telecommunication optical fiber ITU-T G.652, G.653, G.655, and G.657. This sensor was subjected to the commercialization process, which was carried out by a company combining the functionality of a technology transfer center with the capabilities of the Startit Fund Sp. z o.o. The published results included the analysis of the implementation readiness, the analysis of the market potential, the valuation of the industrial property rights of the invention and indicated further directions of scientific research on the sensor, which include the frequency analysis of measurement signals. This prompted the conduct of relevant scientific research. In this paper, the idea of measurement of current using polarimetric current sensor with optical fiber coil has been briefly characterized. It shows the definition and basic properties of the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). It discusses the technique of determining the value of each harmonic of signal at the input and output of polarimetric current sensor. The value of measurement errors and total harmonic distortion (THD) have been calculated. The general conclusions for disturbances in the processing realized in polarimetric current sensor have been formulated. In addition, the impact of the molar concentration of the dopant GeO2 in the core of the single mode telecommunication optical fibers and the impact of the number of turns of the measuring coil on the distortion accompanying the process of processing have been determined. Therefore, it can be concluded that the key result obtained during the research is the confirmation of the fact that single mode telecommunication optical fibers can be used to build the measuring coil of a polarimetric sensor used for measuring alternating currents. This means that the considered sensor, when measuring this type of currents, does not introduce additional distortions and distortions of their waveforms.High-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) remains the most common and deadly subtype of ovarian cancer. It is characterized by its late diagnosis and frequent relapse despite standardized treatment with cytoreductive surgery and platinum-based chemotherapy. The past decade has seen significant advances in the clinical management and molecular understanding of HGSC following the publication of the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) researchers and the introduction of targeted therapies with anti-angiogenic drugs and poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors in specific subgroups of patients. We provide a comprehensive review of HGSC, focusing on the most important molecular advances aimed at providing a better understanding of the disease and its response to treatment. We emphasize the role that proteomic technologies are now playing in these two aspects of the disease, through the identification of proteins and their post-translational modifications in ovarian cancer tumors. Finally, we highlight how the integration of proteomics with genomics, exemplified by the work performed by the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC), can guide the development of new biomarkers and therapeutic targets.Augmented reality (AR) mobile game, Pokémon GO, leverages gamification and location tracking technology to encourage players to walk in different places to catch Pokémon characters in real-world settings. The systematic review sought to explore the impact Pokémon GO has on players' physical activity (PA), and psychological and social outcomes. Six research databases (PubMed, SPORTDiscus, PsycInfo, Web of Science, Science Direct, and Scopus) were used. Study inclusion criteria were (1) quantitative research published in English; (2) examined the relationships between or impact of Pokémon GO on PA, psychological, and/or social outcomes; and (3) included participants played or exposed to Pokémon GO. Thirty-six studies were included with a total sample of 38,724 participants. Players had significantly greater PA than non-players in terms of daily steps and number of days spent in moderate PA. Pokémon GO game also improved players' social interactions and their mood/affects. Selective attention and concentration improved in adolescents and memory improved in young adults after playing the game. Findings suggest playing Pokémon GO could promote meaningful improvements in walking behavior, as well as psychological and social well-being. More multidimensional research with randomized controlled trial design is needed to identify factors that influence adoption and sustainability of Pokémon GO playing.The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of different load carriage modes on coordinative patterns in the lower extremities during walking. Twenty-five university students walked on a treadmill at their preferred pace under three different load conditions symmetric load (5% of body mass in messenger bags on each shoulder hanging vertically and against the hips), asymmetric load 1 (10% of body mass in a messenger bag on one shoulder hanging vertically against the ipsilateral hip), and asymmetric load 2 (10% of body mass in a messenger bag on one shoulder with the bag draped across the trunk to the contralateral hip). Altered thigh-shank and shank-foot couplings were found for the loaded side during the stance of gait when comparing the asymmetric 1 and 2 to the symmetric load. In addition, thigh-thigh coupling was changed during gait when comparing the asymmetric load 2 and symmetric load. However, we did not find any significant differences in intralimb and interlimb couplings between the two different asymmetric load conditions. The results suggest potential benefits when carrying symmetrical loads in order to decrease abnormal limb coordination in daily activities. Thus, it may be advisable to distribute load more symmetrically to avoid abnormal gait.The zebrafish is considered one of the most versatile experimental animal models. The transparency of the embryos, the small size, the rapid development and the homology with higher vertebrates have made the zebrafish a valuable model also for drug screening. Its use is closely related for the determination of bioactivity, toxicity and off-target side effects of novel drug candidates, which also allows a thorough evaluation of new targets; thus, it may represent a suitable model for drug screening and the optimization of novel candidates. Flavonoids are polyphenolic compounds widely present in fruits, vegetables and cereals. Polyphenols are important for both plants and humans, considering their involvement in defense mechanisms, particularly against oxidative stress. They protect plants from biotic and abiotic stressors and prevent or treat oxidative-based human diseases. For these reasons, polyphenols are used as nutraceuticals, functional foods and supplements by the pharmaceutical industry. Therefore, the most relevant findings on zebrafish as a useful experimental model to study oxidative stress-linked disorders, focusing on the biological activities of flavonoids, are here summarized and reviewed.Vitamin D3 has numerous beneficial effects, such as musculoskeletal, immunomodulatory, and neuroprotective. However, its instability is the main obstacle to formulating quality products. Despite increased attention and growing use, data on vitamin D3 stability is scarce because data from individual studies is inconclusive and mostly qualitative. Therefore, we have systematically investigated the influence of various factors (temperature, light, oxygen, pH, concentration, and metal ions) on its stability in aqueous media using a stability-indicating HPLC-UV method. First-order kinetics fitted its degradation under all tested conditions except light and oxygen. Manogepix concentration In both cases, the established models in chemical kinetics were inappropriate and upgraded with the Weibull model. Metal ions and acidic conditions had the main destabilizing effect on vitamin D3 in aqueous media, but these solutions were successfully stabilized after the addition of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), ascorbic acid, and citric acid, individually and in combination. EDTA showed the most significant stabilizing effect. Synergism among antioxidants was not observed. Our findings on vitamin D3 instability in aqueous media also correlated with its instability in commercial products. Vitamin D3 aqueous products require proper stabilization, thereby signifying the importance and contribution of the obtained results to the formulation of stable and quality products.Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is curable when diagnosed at an early stage, but when disease is non-confined it is the urologic cancer with worst prognosis. Antiangiogenic treatment and immune checkpoint inhibition therapy constitute a very promising combined therapy for advanced and metastatic disease. Many exploratory studies have identified epigenetic markers based on DNA methylation, histone modification, and ncRNA expression that epigenetically regulate gene expression in ccRCC. Additionally, epigenetic modifiers genes have been proposed as promising biomarkers for ccRCC. We review and discuss the current understanding of how epigenetic changes determine the main molecular pathways of ccRCC initiation and progression, and also its clinical implications. Despite the extensive research performed, candidate epigenetic biomarkers are not used in clinical practice for several reasons. However, the accumulated body of evidence of developing epigenetically-based biomarkers will likely allow the identification of ccRCC at a higher risk of progression.
